EasyLanguage Help Needed

Recommended Posts

Hi all guys :)

I started studying EasyLanguage not long ago and I'm still a newbie.

I need a little help about a part of code of the TS I'm developing.

I want the TS to open a position at the "ConditionLong" signal, and, once the first position have been opened, I want it to open other positions of the same size and in the same direction every "X" points.

I tried to code it but the TS only opens the first position but not the others...

here is the code:

If marketposition = 0 and ConditionLong Then Buy next bar At High + 1 point stop;
If marketposition > 0 then buy next bar at entryprice + X points stop;

Thank you in advance for your help ;)

Hi Tradewinds and thank you for the answer! :)

however unfortunately it doesn't work because it opens just one position...

I try to explain pratically what I need:

once the first position is entered, say at 100, I want to pyramide it and buy other position every 20 points... so 100, 120, 140, 160...and so on...till the condition to close is met.

Market Position will only return 1, 0, or -1

CurrentShares will return how many you are long or short.

MarketPosition * CurrentShares will return true position with a + or - sign.

Hi UrmaBlume and thank you for this detail!

However even changing the code I posted before this way:

If marketposition * CurrentShares = 0 and ConditionLong Then Buy next bar At High + 1 point stop;
If marketposition * CurrentShares > 0 and Close >= entryprice + X then buy next bar at High points stop;

the problem still persist.

I think I'd need something like a "lastentryprice" word in order to accomplish the code...

something like:

If marketposition = 0 and ConditionLong Then Buy next bar At High + 1 point stop;
If marketposition > 0 and Close >= [color="Red"]lastentryprice[/color] + X then buy next bar at High points stop;

I'm sure there is something like this of which I'm not yet aware of :crap:

Anybody knows how to help me please?

Hi LiuKK,

Have you checked the Pyramiding Check Box ? in the Format strategies--> Properties for All--> General--> Allow upto [ ] ???

Good Luck,

EasyTrader_I.

Hi EasyTrader_I! :) and thank you for the answer.

Yes, that box is flagged...and still doesn't work.

I really can't understand what is wrong with this code... :confused:

This is from the Easy Language help:

Returns the entry price for the specified position.

EntryPrice(Num)

Where Num is a numeric expression representing the number of positions ago (up to a maximum of ten).

Remarks

This function can only be used in the evaluation of strategies. It does not require an input, however, by using the input Num, you can obtain the specified value from a previous position, up to ten positions ago.

Example

EntryPrice(2) might return a value of 101.19 as the entry price of 2 positions ago on a chart of Microsoft stock.

Are you entering a number for how many entry orders back the entry was? You need to use the syntax:

EntryPrice(1)

Actually, the "EntryPrice" reserved word does not need the "NUM" input to be designated, BUT I think that the MarketPosition reserved word DOES need the "NUM" input to be designated:

MarketPosition(1)

Possibly the condition entryprice+X points stop is not met because the market falls after your first buy and the order never executes. Is that maybe?

Hi equatrader and thank you to try to help me :)

Unfortunately this isn’t the problem because it doesn’t opens other positions even if the price go my way and reach the entry price+X points leve and goes even much further...

This is from the Easy Language help:

Are you entering a number for how many entry orders back the entry was? You need to use the syntax:

EntryPrice(1)

Tradewinds, this is enlightening!

I just wanted to buy X points over the last entry so “entry price(1)” would be perfect!

So I changed the code this way:

If marketposition = 0 and ConditionLong Then Buy next bar At High + 1 point stop;
If marketposition > 0 then buy next bar at Entryprice(1) + X points stop;

Unfortunately the problem still persisted and the TS opened just the first position.

Then I tried to experiment another way:

I changed the pyramid filter from a constant number of points (X) to a fraction of the ATR:

var1 = AvgTrueRange( ATRLength ) * NumATRs;

If marketposition = 0 and ConditionLong Then Buy next bar At High + 1 point stop;
If marketposition > 0 then buy next bar at Entryprice(1) + var1 stop;

And, surprisingly to me, it worked! :confused:

But not the way I was looking for, because it opens positions even if the price goes down till the exit condition is met. :crap:

I want it to pyramid adding positions only if the price goes in the right direction…precisely every X ATR (or X points) from the last entry price...

var: x(0), mp(0), cs(0), np(0), step(2);

mp=marketposition;
cs=currentshares;
np=entryprice+cs*step;

if mp=0 and d=1111102 then buy next bar market;
if mp>0 then buy next bar np stop;

if cs<>cs[1] then begin
   x=text_new(d,t,np,"next="+numtostr(np,2));  text_setstyle(x,1,2);
end;

Hi onesmith, and thank you for the reply! :)

As I said in the first post I’m still a newbie in programming and, honestly, I’m not yet so skilled to understand totally the code you posted. :embarassed:

Anyway I tried it but again it wasn’t doing what I’m looking for

I write here the full code of this (“simple once coded”) trading system:

Inputs: Price(Close), LenA(10), LenB(100), ATRLength(20), NumATRs(1) ;

var:  mp(0), var0(0), var1(0), var2(0);

mp=marketposition*currentshares;
var0 = Average(Price, LenA);
var1 = Average(Price, LenB);
var2 = AvgTrueRange( ATRLength ) * NumATRs;

Condition1 = var0>var1;
Condition2 = var0<var1;

If mp = 0 and Condition1 Then Buy next bar At High + var2 stop;

If mp > mp[1] then buy next bar at entryprice + var2 stop;

If mp > 0 and Condition2 Then sell next bar at market;

Basically I want the TS to open positions perpetually at step of an ATR fraction till the condition to close them is met... like the TS of the Richard Dennis's turtles but with a limitless number of positions.

How people can code this?

// CrossPrice is set to H of bar when FastAvg crosses above SlowAvg.

// PreviousPrice stores most recent EntryPrice.

// if mp=0 then NextPrice is CrossPrice+atr.

// if mp=1 then NextPrice is PreviousPrice+atr.

var:  fast(0), slow(0), atr(0), cs(0), crossPrice(0), previousPrice(0), nextPrice(0);

fast=average(c,10);
slow=average(c,100);
atr=AvgTrueRange(20);
cs=currentshares;

if fast>slow then begin
   if fast crosses above slow then begin
       crossPrice=H;    nextPrice=crossPrice+atr;
   end;
   if cs>0 then begin
       if cs>cs[1] then previousPrice=maxlist(open,nextPrice);
       nextPrice=previousPrice+atr;
   end else nextPrice=crossPrice+atr;
   if crossPrice>0 then buy next bar nextPrice stop;
end else sell next bar market;

Onesmith...you're great, I really don't know how to thank you enough...

the TS works perfectly now :thumbs up:

there are so many things I still don't know and your help have been really invaluable :)

    • Here’s something few are talking about: The Chinese are printing money like it's going out of style. Not that you'd hear about it in the mainstream news. But Bitcoin knows.   Bitcoin always knows.   Here’s the thing…   When the Chinese government prints money to paper over the cracks, their smart money doesn't sit around waiting to get devalued.   It usually flows into three things: Bitcoin, gold, and dollars.   After years of being beaten down, gold's having one of its best years in decades. But here's the secret -- whatever gold does, Bitcoin's going to do it bigger.   Much bigger.   Since last November, when China started their printing spree, Bitcoin's been moving in near-perfect correlation with the People's Bank of China's balance sheet. Over 80% correlation, maybe even 90%.   Again, few are talking about it.   But here's why this matters right now: This could be the beginning of a huge breakout in the crypto markets.   Bitcoin broke above its July high, and historically, that's led to new all-time highs over 90% of the time. The only times it failed? COVID and the 2022 bear market.   That's it.” – Chris Campbell   Profits from free accurate cryptos signals: https://www.predictmag.com/

    • @sxiqxx, Well done on making your first post a promising strategy. @everyone, post up if you want this coded into an EA. Although I switched to TradeStation, I still have an active MT5 demo with MetaEditor. I can code it without referencing object oriented programming which should be retroactively compatible with MT4. Let me know...
    • Please allow me to retort (in jest): RESPONSE 1 : Get a job supervising others where you're in control of performance reports and ride those others 100%. This makes your performance 100% with little to no effort.   RESPONSE 2: Feel free to piss off your boss but stay nonviolent. When the side effects of his viagra and testosterone boosters cause him to physically assault you, you have the legal upper hand. This can result in a boatload of trading capital.   RESPONSE 3: Feel free to have intimate relations with your boss if she finds you attractive. Rest assured that mum's the word because once again, you have the legal upper hand. This can also result in a boatload of trading capital.   RESPONSE 4: Don't be fake friends with any enemies... unless you need information from them. Being fake friends with everyone will cause you to become an empty shell of a person with no direction in life.   REPONSE 5: Get your boss to become reliant on your performance (really, just the performance of your subordinates), and then plan an "overheard" conversation wherein you fake an interview with another potential employer. You'll probably get a pay increase or a promotion.   RESPONSE 6: If you can give your 75% percent to a project, give 50% and rely on your legal upper hand(s). Learn to write trading algo's during your other 50%.   RESPONSE 7: Take all of the office boys out to nightclub where you merely sip soft drinks on a weeknight. Upon your return to the office in the morning, inform the security guards that all of the office boys are intoxicated. Your boss will love you for it.   RESPONSE 8: Never try to prove your client wrong or find faults in their processes, but do secretly collect their information in case you jump ship or "someone you know" decides to start his own company.   RESPONSE 9: Never stay in a firm for too long. Instead, use your ill-gotten capital to exit the rat-race and start trading.   RESPONSE 10: Trading pays more than your career. Interpersonal skills are now irrelevant. Use your technical skills for trading. Never stop learning and keep updating your technical skills.😁
