Automated Trading with Esignal

Recommended Posts

Hi all!

I have recently decided to use esignal and i have some questions. and i need a suggestion on which broker to choose.

1. Can you please suggest me of the broker/s that has the fastest and most reliable execution of trading orders with esignal?

I am trading on the CME futures and using automated trading with esignal.

2. I understood that the connection between esignal and the broker in automated trading is made by a plug-in.

my question is: while making a market order(using automated trading), is it possible that there will be a delay from the moment esignal gave the order until the broker sent the order to the CME?

if there is a delay, how long can it be? is there a way to trade automatically with esignal without a delay?

3. Are there any bugs that can happen because of this "plug-in"? like: is it possible that the broker will send the order to the CME on a different price than what i wanted in the esignal charts?

THANKS A LOT IN ADVANCE

brokers are like girl friends... different people see beauty in different girls...

things to consider:

1. where are you?

this is the internet age with little boundaries, but still,

some good brokers might not be available in your country.

2. who are the major brokers in your area?

ie. what are your selection? what are your choices.

3. what do you need?

eg.

some brokers are good with technology, but short on human contact.

others might cost more in commission, but you get to talk to a real person when you call.

2. I understood that the connection between esignal and the broker in automated trading is made by a plug-in.

the delay will be in milliseconds.

the biggest delays are caused by:

1. the router in your home

2. the last mile (google if you are not familiar with this term)

3. your ISP's server

3. Are there any bugs that can happen because of this "plug-in"? like: is it possible that the broker will send the order to the CME on a different price than what i wanted in the esignal charts?

THANKS A LOT IN ADVANCE

anything can happen... but not a different price.

the computer can crash,

the software can hang,

but computers and softwares are stupid,

it will only do what you tell it to do.

hope the above helps.

good luck

From my understanding eSignal does not have automated trading as yet, though they have been saying that they are working on it for quite some time now.The eSignal plugin will at best, allow you to make off the charts trading. Not fully automated trading.

The real issue, methinks, is that the eSignal programming language EFS has to be modified considerably, if it has to become an automated trading platform. That seems to be taking time.

But there are workarounds. Like you can EFS write into a text file which is directly inputted into a trading interface. If your trading strategy operates in the high frequency range meaning if milliseconds matter for you, then it may not be the best approach.
