ftt - failure to traverse.

fp3 - failure to point 3.

ftr - failure to resume.

Thank you!

Is "point 3" based on your own terminology/proprietary strategy or does it refer to a publicly available method? I haven't heard about it yet.

PS: Sorry, that I ask so many questions... :)

So yesterday was indeed an "outlier" but from an auction perspective it was no different. It balanced a little, broke down, found buyers and eventually looked back up a bit. I wasn't expecting the break to be as it turned out to be but hey, what can you do? My philosphy is that you make a hell of a lot more by taking lots of smaller profitable trades than by hitting the odd jackpot! Not everyone's cup of tea, I know.

Either way it looked to me like liquidation and this certainly would tie in with the sluggish nature on its highs. These breaks need to happen from time to time in order to clean the weak hands out and attract new longer term buying. Not that I'm saying it'll rally or not sell off. It could dump again. Who knows. But overnight is a clue that it at least wants to explore back up with the high currently at 1369.50 and sitting at 66.75. If it opens here, it'd be above that 63 area I mentioned yesterday when talking of the chances of 47 before close and in the singles from the most agressive part of yesterday's move down.

Looking at the longer term profile I will be interested in what happens if we can get to 1370.75 and then 73.25-75.25.

Here's the chart:-

Wednesday Morning: Today looks initially like it will be a mixed bag... "possibly" will bang heads on both sides.. Personally I will potentially wait for the Ib to come in and then wait to see what develops..after a day like yesterday the market might need a vacation...Today? Potential Normal or Neutral???

I am going to trade 2/3 of package in anticipation of short targets and rotations...of course I am clueless but that is my initial thinking until things develop.. :2c:

Good Trading everyone..

BTW: N. Agree. 73.25 - 73.50 is an interesting number for a test...

Currently I have all Green across the instrument pannel - not sure if ot matters..

Cash has closed down for 5 straight days -- this has not happened since before Thanksgiving last year. That should give you an idea of how strong this market has been.. :) Earlier this year, after 3 down closes, the market responded bullishly. Will be interesting to see if this is reasonable enough of a pullback to attract more buyers.

bought 66.75 .. one thing's for sure, activity high...

plan was to scale one near ON high but could not get it filled fast enough. So, will hold one now for 71.50 or perhaps ON high again if it looks weak up there

Well I didn't post this before because it's just one of those that you need to watch. Given the vicinity to the 70.75 I am watching for, the occurence of this "setup" meant I had it on a "tight leash". So my stop was activity based and so any move higher would've got me out. There's always the chance to re-enter. The reason I am posting this now is because I used my discretion to take the position out ahead of the 65's. My initial entry location wasn't as I'd hoped and the move into the singles from yesterday(63.25-67.25) wasn't as I'd hoped it would be. But it's better than a kick in the head(even if the open is holding)!

I reversed to long just now at 67.50. I think I should still be long from 65.75, and that this short was not a wise move. Why else would we trade back up into balance after trading below? So, I'm long, and if I get shaken out, this will be the most whipped around I've been in a while.

I am flat... enough until IB is in for me...

"Chances are the way to play this "might" have been to try to get the long for the initial targets /i posted earlier up to CLVN 73.25 and then look to reverse up there..this is kind of no-mans land here. I do think the long against the 50% ret of yest range was the play.. ACH.. :2c:

I will give it one tick to work, but my upper targets are 71.50, just below Friday's low after NFP, and 73.00, top of a balance from yesterday.

Looking at the chart I just posted, it looks to me like the VA/VPOC lines on the profile are messed up again. Anyone else getting this?

N: Mine look ok..but I still have the memory problem with IRT...

BTW: Just FYI for everyone... I had a driver update for my video/displays... I downloaded it and all hell broke loose.. Monitors wouldn't stay on eventhough they were enabled... I could get them on but on a restart they wouldn't startup... kind of a problem with a multi-screen setup... Fortunately I do a weekly auto backup so I could restore to a previous week and saved the day... Dem Bums....

Normally I would not look to buy ahead of this break into new territory, normally I'd be looking to short based on this profile, but I think the action calls for a different course.

That being said, she sure is struggling to get up at the moment...

I'm out of my long here, and probably just at the wrong time, but I gave it plenty of time and room to work, and I'll just have to get back in if it's still a good long. I know it's vwap and 50%, but I'm not going to let a +3 pointer turn into a loser.

Very often when I scale too early I think "I should have held longer," but I often scale for a reason, and should have done so here at 70... I'd still be long and have banked +3.

The main goal of this thread is to show what Power Trades is and how it works in different markets. We will show some patterns on the ES and NQ futures, as well as discuss possible improvements to this functionality.
      What is Power Trades?
Ok, first we will consider what the Power Trades is and how it finds zones.
Power Trades shows the zones with the execution of a large number of orders in a very short time, which will affect the price change with a high probability.
Here are a few examples of how it looks like

      How it finds zones?
There is a continuous process of placing, changing and executing orders in the market. All this affects the price change and the expectations of traders regarding the future price.
When a large order appears at a certain level, the price is more likely to come to this order and it will be executed because the market is always looking for levels with liquidity. This already applies to the order flow and the mechanics of orders matching, so we will omit the principles on which the orders are matched.
It is only important to understand that "abnormal events" occur in the market at certain times. Execution of a significant volume of orders in a very short time is one of such events.
The Power Trades Scanner has several important settings that directly affect the results:

Total Volume — the minimum value of the volume that should be traded during the specified time interval
Time Interval, sec — the time over which the Total Volume should be traded
Basis Volume Interval, sec — this parameter shows how much % took the traded volume in the total volume for the specified time.
Zone Height, ticks — this parameter will show only those zones where the height is less than or equal to the specified value (in ticks).
Level2 level count — the number of levels that are involved in the calculation of Imbalance and the Level 2 Ratio column in the table of results.
Filter by Delta,% — the parameter will show zones that have a delta value greater than or equal to that specified in the setting. The value must be specified by the module, so the table will show both positive and negative delta values. We recommend paying attention to the zones with the delta above 50% (taking into account the specifics of each trading instrument).
For example, let's set the Total Volume of 2000 contracts and Time Interval in 3 seconds on the E-mini SP500 futures. This means that the scan will be based on the available history and will show on the chart only those zones that have such a volume for the specified time.

Additionally, it is worth to set a delta value to filter out the zones with one-side trades. The more delta value, the high probability that the price will reverse.

So, as a starting point about this scanner, I think this information will be enough

      Hi everyone,
This is my maiden analysis using volume profile - so please don't hesitate to share your feedback.
As per the attached analysis, I think that SPY is primed for a short - for many reasons
      - Multiple strong rejection of long positions exist at Resistance R1 and R2 : seems like sellers defending their positions
      - Very strong short volume seen at R2 : further signifying sellers who are ready at that level
However, once the price reaches Support S1, there seems to be a strong buying sentiment which has rejected previous shorts. You can see trading ranges & pullbacks to S1 where buyers and sellers seem to agree on a price range, often leading to a buyer dominance.
      What do you think?

    • Date: 4th April 2025.   USDJPY Falls to 25-Week Low as Safe Havens Surge and Markets Eye NFP Data.   Safe haven currencies and the traditional alternative to the US Dollar continue to increase in value while the Dollar declines. Investors traditionally opt to invest in the Japanese Yen and Swiss Franc at times of uncertainty and when they wish to avoid the Dollar. The Japanese Yen continues to be the best-performing currency of the week and of the day. Will this continue to be the case after today’s US employment figures?   USDJPY - NFP Data And Trade Negotiations The USDJPY is currently trading at a 25-week low and is witnessing one of its strongest declines this week. The exchange rate is no longer obtaining indications from the RSI that the price is oversold. The current bullish swing is obtaining indications of divergence as the price fails to form a higher high. Therefore, short-term momentum is in favour of the US Dollar, but there are still signs the Japanese Yen can regain momentum quickly.       USDJPY 1-Hour Chart     The price movement of the exchange rate in both the short and long term will depend on 3 factors. Today’s US employment data, next week’s inflation rate and most importantly the progress of negotiations between the US and trade partners. If today’s Unemployment Rate increases above 4.1%, the reading will be the highest seen so far in 2025. Currently, the market expects the Unemployment Rate to remain at 4.1% and the Non-Farm Payroll Change to add 137,000 jobs. The average NFP reading this year so far has been 194,000.   If data does not meet expectations, US investors may continue to increase exposure away from the Dollar and to other safe-haven assets. Previously investors were expecting only 2 rate cuts this year from the Federal Reserve, however, most investors now expect up to 4. If today’s employment data deteriorates, economists advise the Federal Reserve may opt to cut interest rates sooner.   Therefore, it is important to note that today’s NFP will influence the USDJPY to a large extent. Whereas in the longer-term, trade negotiations will steal the spotlight. If trade partners are able to negotiate the US Dollar can correct back upwards. Whereas, if other countries retaliate and do not negotiate the US Dollar will remain weak.   USDJPY - The Yen and the Bank of Japan The Japanese Yen is the best-performing currency in 2025 increasing by 6.70% so far. Risk indicators such as the VIX and High-Low Indexes continue to worsen which is positive for the JPY as a safe haven currency.   Yesterday Japan released March business activity data that came in weaker than expected: the Services PMI dropped from 53.7 to 50.0, while the Composite PMI fell from 52.0 to 48.9. The data is the lowest in two years. These figures could hinder further interest rate hikes by the Bank of Japan. However, most economists still expect the Bank Of Japan to hike at least once more. It's also important to note, that even if the BOJ opts for a prolonged pause, a cut is not likely.   Additionally, a 24% tariff was imposed on Japanese exports to the US yesterday. Prime Minister Mr Ishiba expressed disappointment over Japan's failure to secure a tariff exemption and pledged support measures to help domestic industries manage the impact.   Key Takeaway Points: US Dollar Weakens, Safe Havens Rise: The Japanese Yen and Swiss Franc continue to gain as investors shift away from the US Dollar. USDJPY Under Pressure: USDJPY trades at a 25-week low, with short-term momentum favouring the Dollar but long-term trends pointing to potential Yen strength. NFP and Unemployment Crucial: Today’s Non-Farm Payrolls and unemployment figures will heavily influence short-term USDJPY. On the other hand, trade negotiations will dictate longer-term trends. Japan Faces Mixed Signals: Despite weak PMI data and new US tariffs, the Japanese Yen remains strong. Economists expect at least one more rate hike from the Bank of Japan, but no cuts are in sight. • Date: 3rd April 2025.   Gold Prices Pull Back After Record High as Traders Eye Trump’s Tariffs.   Key Takeaways:   Gold prices retreated after hitting a record high of $3,167.57 per ounce due to profit-taking. President Trump announced a 10% baseline tariff on all US imports, escalating trade tensions. Gold remains exempt from reciprocal tariffs, reinforcing its safe-haven appeal. Investors await US non-farm payroll data for further market direction. Fed rate cut bets and weaker US Treasury yields underpin gold’s bullish outlook. Gold Prices Retreat from Record Highs Amid Profit-Taking Gold prices saw a pullback on Thursday as traders opted to take profits following a historic surge. Spot gold declined 0.4% to $3,122.10 per ounce as of 0710 GMT, retreating from its fresh all-time high of $3,167.57. Meanwhile, US gold futures slipped 0.7% to $3,145.00 per ounce, reflecting broader market uncertainty over economic and geopolitical developments.   The recent rally was largely fueled by concerns over escalating trade tensions after President Donald Trump unveiled sweeping new import tariffs. The 10% baseline tariff on all goods entering the US further deepened the global trade conflict, intensifying investor demand for safe-haven assets like gold. However, as traders locked in gains from the surge, prices saw a modest retracement.   Trump’s Tariffs and Their Market Implications On Wednesday, Trump introduced a sweeping tariff policy imposing a 10% baseline duty on all imports, with significantly higher tariffs on select nations. While this move was aimed at bolstering domestic manufacturing, it sent shockwaves across global markets, fueling inflation concerns and heightening trade war fears.   Gold’s Role Amid Trade War Escalations Despite the widespread tariff measures, the White House clarified that reciprocal tariffs do not apply to gold, energy, and ‘certain minerals that are not available in the US’. This exemption suggests that central banks and institutional investors may continue favouring gold as a hedge against economic instability. One of the key factors supporting gold is the slowdown that these tariffs could cause in the US economy, which raises the likelihood of future Federal Reserve rate cuts. Gold is currently in a pure momentum trade. Market participants are on the sidelines and until we see a significant shakeout, this momentum could persist.   Impact on the US Dollar and Bond Yields Gold prices typically move inversely to the US dollar, and the latest developments have pushed the dollar to its weakest level since October 2024. Market participants are increasingly pricing in the possibility of a Fed rate cut, as the tariffs could weigh on economic growth.   Additionally, US Treasury yields have plummeted, reflecting growing recession fears. Lower bond yields reduce the opportunity cost of holding non-yielding assets like gold, making it a more attractive investment.         Technical Analysis: Key Levels to Watch Gold’s recent rally has pushed it into overbought territory, with the Relative Strength Index (RSI) above 70. This indicates a potential short-term pullback before the uptrend resumes. The immediate support level lies at $3,115, aligning with the Asian session low. A further decline could bring gold towards the $3,100 psychological level, which has previously acted as a strong support zone. Below this, the $3,076–$3,057 region represents a critical weekly support range where buyers may re-enter the market. In the event of a more significant correction, $3,000 stands as a major psychological floor.   On the upside, gold faces immediate resistance at $3,149. A break above this level could signal renewed bullish momentum, potentially leading to a retest of the record high at $3,167. If bullish momentum persists, the next target is the $3,200 psychological barrier, which could pave the way for further gains. Despite the recent pullback, the broader trend remains bullish, with dips likely to be viewed as buying opportunities.   Looking Ahead: Non-Farm Payrolls and Fed Policy Traders are closely monitoring Friday’s US non-farm payrolls (NFP) report, which could provide critical insights into the Federal Reserve’s next policy moves. A weaker-than-expected jobs report may strengthen expectations for an interest rate cut, further boosting gold prices.   Other key economic data releases, such as jobless claims and the ISM Services PMI, may also impact market sentiment in the short term. However, with rising geopolitical uncertainties, trade tensions, and a weakening US dollar, gold’s safe-haven appeal remains strong.   Conclusion: While short-term profit-taking may trigger minor corrections, gold’s long-term outlook remains bullish. As global trade tensions mount and the Federal Reserve leans toward a more accommodative stance, gold could see further gains in the months ahead.   Always trade with strict risk management.
