Looks like you got it! But why did you get long at 43.00 and why were you looking for 45.00?

Yes, got out at 47. hahah I was looking at 45 cause your chart showed resistance there.

I went long, cause pre-market support was at 42 for a long time. So, I waited til market open and at first sign of push higher, i went long. 43 is the entry i got. The long was in hopes of 45 not holding.

Fair enough. Worked out pretty well for you then playing the singles fill! I would have preferred an entry closer to 41.50 overnight session support though. Either way you got paid and the entry price you took could still have been valid if you took it after the RTH low had been put in (not pre-open).

So building permits (11.6% exp 1.1%) and housing starts (15% exp 2.7%) beat convincingly. IBM (3.62 exp 3.61) and INTC (0.58 exp 0.49) beat last night. BAC beat (0.00 exp -0.06) but again not way out of line. Notably KCG (Knight Capital) missed (-6.30 exp -2.41) (kinda lol :\ ) IBKR (Interactive Broker s) did too (0.30 exp 0.35) (lol). Crude inventories due later. Spain still not requesting a bailout and Moody's happy they are still investment grade for now.

Anyway, here's a chart and we'll see if we like the upper development again today :) :-

Today we've had a worse print on Initial Jobless Claims (388k exp 365k) and we have Leading Indicators (exp 0.2%) and Philly Fed (exp 1.0) later. Big one for earnings is Google after the close.

Chart from yesterday:-

This GOOGLE earnings miss points to a MUCH lower NQ down to 2664. Not necessarily today. I don't mean its going straight there ... but there NQ is showing signs of needing to go lower to find more buying interest.

Yeah it's pretty much nailed it since coming out. I wonder if the NQ was weak the last few days in anticipation...

NQ missed gap fill by 2 ticks ... GOOG halted. Interesting. ES needs lower prices IMO .. looking for 1449 and then we'll see. Best short I could manage in NQ was 2749 which is working nicely ...

UPDATE: trade up 20 pts up and I am out ...

Google's (9.03 exp 10.66) early earnings release debacle yesterday sent NQ tumbling but ES held up pretty well in its high volume zone. GE (0.36 exp 0.37) missed today and pretty much all other earnings are out already. Existing home sales (exp -2.5% from 7.8%) is due out at 10am ET. Fed's Lacker is speaking at 12:35 ET. EU summit has agreed to put in a single Euro Banking supervisor next year. So the question for today is are we going to be stuck in the mud or is NQ going to drag us down? Given it's already moved I'd question whether it will continue weakness today based on Google alone. That's not to say I don't believe it can move lower though. Also there is the chance buyers could step in in the NQ and that could act as a catalyst for the ES to test the extremes of the current balance profile. My overall feeling is that we could well just trade around the upper development of the distribution and wait for more information next week. Watch for signs on open. Remember that Fridays have recently been 1 or 2 more days and keep your cool going into the weekend ;)

Here's a chart:-

The main goal of this thread is to show what Power Trades is and how it works in different markets. We will show some patterns on the ES and NQ futures, as well as discuss possible improvements to this functionality.
      What is Power Trades?
Ok, first we will consider what the Power Trades is and how it finds zones.
Power Trades shows the zones with the execution of a large number of orders in a very short time, which will affect the price change with a high probability.
Here are a few examples of how it looks like

      How it finds zones?
There is a continuous process of placing, changing and executing orders in the market. All this affects the price change and the expectations of traders regarding the future price.
When a large order appears at a certain level, the price is more likely to come to this order and it will be executed because the market is always looking for levels with liquidity. This already applies to the order flow and the mechanics of orders matching, so we will omit the principles on which the orders are matched.
It is only important to understand that "abnormal events" occur in the market at certain times. Execution of a significant volume of orders in a very short time is one of such events.
The Power Trades Scanner has several important settings that directly affect the results:

Total Volume — the minimum value of the volume that should be traded during the specified time interval
Time Interval, sec — the time over which the Total Volume should be traded
Basis Volume Interval, sec — this parameter shows how much % took the traded volume in the total volume for the specified time.
Zone Height, ticks — this parameter will show only those zones where the height is less than or equal to the specified value (in ticks).
Level2 level count — the number of levels that are involved in the calculation of Imbalance and the Level 2 Ratio column in the table of results.
Filter by Delta,% — the parameter will show zones that have a delta value greater than or equal to that specified in the setting. The value must be specified by the module, so the table will show both positive and negative delta values. We recommend paying attention to the zones with the delta above 50% (taking into account the specifics of each trading instrument).
For example, let's set the Total Volume of 2000 contracts and Time Interval in 3 seconds on the E-mini SP500 futures. This means that the scan will be based on the available history and will show on the chart only those zones that have such a volume for the specified time.

Additionally, it is worth to set a delta value to filter out the zones with one-side trades. The more delta value, the high probability that the price will reverse.

So, as a starting point about this scanner, I think this information will be enough

      Hi everyone,
This is my maiden analysis using volume profile - so please don't hesitate to share your feedback.
As per the attached analysis, I think that SPY is primed for a short - for many reasons
      - Multiple strong rejection of long positions exist at Resistance R1 and R2 : seems like sellers defending their positions
      - Very strong short volume seen at R2 : further signifying sellers who are ready at that level
However, once the price reaches Support S1, there seems to be a strong buying sentiment which has rejected previous shorts. You can see trading ranges & pullbacks to S1 where buyers and sellers seem to agree on a price range, often leading to a buyer dominance.
      What do you think?

    • My latest trick... After successfully live trading forex for years, switch to trading futures in the U.S. Chicago Mercantile Exchanges. Futures spreads are generally 1 or 2 ticks with no swaps, and data fees and commission fees are fixed. As a caveat, leverage changes throughout every day based on international sessions, so this is not for small accounts.
    • @analyst75, I am just dying for you to write a sequel... Why Some Young People Prefer to Live Alone.😂
    • I have to guess that a single person living alone, with no pets, with a light appetite, and in a small home stands the best chance. Less expenses = more time to get profitable. Maybe... an emotionless psychopath?😂
    • IMHO, demo contests with a cash prize tend to cause new traders to take unrealistic risks because they're literally risking nothing to win something. I wouldn't get into the habit of that.😬
    • I posit that traders should code auto-trading bots, or use a platform interface that supports building bots without coding, and then backtest everything in demo before trading at all. @aimhi, I believe that you have already posted this in another thread.🤓
