Anyone else see that at all???? :helloooo:

I took my loss and am doing more productive things with my time... kind of disgusted with this market, sorry to say. I know it's my problem, but it's just all such a farce that I don't even want to look at it until next week.

Did you know that Yellen, the vp chair of FOMC (I think that's her title) said yesterday evening said that ZIRP may well likely continue through end of 2015? I know it doesn't matter, but these super smart morons baffle me.

This is what we all wanted to do today! (j/k)

Edit: Although the original picture probably was a more accurate dipiction than I had originally intended, once I realised where the mouse had been positioned and what it looked like, censorship was required!

Okay, well I hope nobody got too badly hurt today and hopefully some made some good $! If you did do badly, don't beat yourself up over it too much. Tomorrow is another day. Trade well and the market will reward you- well possibly and over a big enough sample ;)

See you all tomorrow! :missy:

Hi Negotiator,

It was interesting to see how activity on this forum dried up yesterday. Guess several people (including me!) were caught off guard... It was an interesting day... learned (again!) a lot...

Regards,

k

Noting that although it's April, it's still Friday 13th if you're into that superstitious lark.

More importantly, JPM and WFC are due to report today @ 7 & 8 am EST respectively.

Watch those financials!!!

N, I've been looking for a reliable earnings calendar that gives an accurate time of the release. May I ask what you're using here?

Well China GDP came out low contrary to the rumour and overnight ES did sell off. 77's from yesterday which are the current overnight low is where there is a vacuum of volume. Next below that is around 73.50 and much below that, yesterday at least offers little support. Most of the volume overnight is below the thurs close and if we get there again, this could be a critical area, before the 92.50 area I mentioned yesterday. NFP SOC, Balance VPOC, naked day VPOC all acting to draw price potentially.

Apart from China, after close Google and early today JPM and WFC all beat earnings estimates. US CPI came in pretty much in line a short while ago and then we have Michigan Conf @ 9:55ET. Fed's Dudley and Bernanke speaking later.

Imho there are reasons to go down, but in all possibly more to go up. How, where and when are different matters though.

Having a much better day so far -- hopefully I can snap the losing streak at 3 days. I'm short from prior to Michigan, and got first scale here at 73.75, see yesterday's profile for obvious reason why on this area. After last few days feels good to be on the right side again. Anywhere in yesterday's lower balance may find buyers if this level currently fails to hold, specifically I'm targeting 67.

lol yes that is a danger isn't it? I did what I would normally do and scaled where I was supposed to, and will see if it will give me more. I don't think it should really trade back into yesterday's upper balance, so my stop is 77.75, a tick above BE on the remainder of the position.

The main goal of this thread is to show what Power Trades is and how it works in different markets. We will show some patterns on the ES and NQ futures, as well as discuss possible improvements to this functionality.
      What is Power Trades?
Ok, first we will consider what the Power Trades is and how it finds zones.
Power Trades shows the zones with the execution of a large number of orders in a very short time, which will affect the price change with a high probability.
Here are a few examples of how it looks like

      How it finds zones?
There is a continuous process of placing, changing and executing orders in the market. All this affects the price change and the expectations of traders regarding the future price.
When a large order appears at a certain level, the price is more likely to come to this order and it will be executed because the market is always looking for levels with liquidity. This already applies to the order flow and the mechanics of orders matching, so we will omit the principles on which the orders are matched.
It is only important to understand that "abnormal events" occur in the market at certain times. Execution of a significant volume of orders in a very short time is one of such events.
The Power Trades Scanner has several important settings that directly affect the results:

Total Volume — the minimum value of the volume that should be traded during the specified time interval
Time Interval, sec — the time over which the Total Volume should be traded
Basis Volume Interval, sec — this parameter shows how much % took the traded volume in the total volume for the specified time.
Zone Height, ticks — this parameter will show only those zones where the height is less than or equal to the specified value (in ticks).
Level2 level count — the number of levels that are involved in the calculation of Imbalance and the Level 2 Ratio column in the table of results.
Filter by Delta,% — the parameter will show zones that have a delta value greater than or equal to that specified in the setting. The value must be specified by the module, so the table will show both positive and negative delta values. We recommend paying attention to the zones with the delta above 50% (taking into account the specifics of each trading instrument).
For example, let's set the Total Volume of 2000 contracts and Time Interval in 3 seconds on the E-mini SP500 futures. This means that the scan will be based on the available history and will show on the chart only those zones that have such a volume for the specified time.

Additionally, it is worth to set a delta value to filter out the zones with one-side trades. The more delta value, the high probability that the price will reverse.

So, as a starting point about this scanner, I think this information will be enough

      Hi everyone,
This is my maiden analysis using volume profile - so please don't hesitate to share your feedback.
As per the attached analysis, I think that SPY is primed for a short - for many reasons
      - Multiple strong rejection of long positions exist at Resistance R1 and R2 : seems like sellers defending their positions
      - Very strong short volume seen at R2 : further signifying sellers who are ready at that level
However, once the price reaches Support S1, there seems to be a strong buying sentiment which has rejected previous shorts. You can see trading ranges & pullbacks to S1 where buyers and sellers seem to agree on a price range, often leading to a buyer dominance.
      What do you think?

    • Date: 12th November 2024. Market Buzz: Trump Trade Impact! “Trump trade” has boosted the US Dollar and US stocks, but Trump’s policies may have less favorable effects on global assets. Trump’s plan to raise tariffs is expected to negatively impact economies worldwide, especially exporters like China. Asia & European Sessions:   Bitcoin Surge! Bitcoin broke $90K, driven by Trump trade once again. Bitcoin is up roughly 110% in 2024, helped by robust demand for dedicated US ETFs, interest rate cuts by the Federal Reserve and Trump’s cryptofriendly agenda. Crypto market capitalization has exceeded its pandemic-era peak, reaching $3.1 trillion. Traders are betting on Bitcoin reaching $100,000 by year-end, according to data from the Deribit exchange. Open interest — or outstanding contracts — for CME Group Inc. futures for Bitcoin and second-ranked Ether (ETHUSD) scaled records on Monday, a sign of growing engagement by US institutional investors. Asian shares dropped, alongside European and US equity futures, as traders evaluated the implications of President-elect Donald Trump’s policy agenda and potential cabinet choices. The MSCI Asia Pacific Index fell for a third consecutive day, driven by rising Treasury yields amid concerns that Trump’s proposed tax cuts could increase inflation. There are also reports that Trump is considering two individuals for prominent roles in his administration with track records of criticizing China. DAX and FTSE100 are down -1.1% and -0.5% respectively, after a pickup in German HICP inflation and higher than expected UK wage growth dampened easing expectations. Investors await the US CPI report for insights into the Fed’s easing path, as Trump’s inflationary policies may lead to fewer rate cuts. Financial Markets Performance:   The USDIndex continues to rise and is currently at 105.75. It hit a 1-year high. EURUSD drifts to 1.0620 and GBPUSD is in a sell off, currently at 1.2800. Oil prices fell after their biggest 2-week decline, amid a weak demand outlook from China, a stronger US Dollar, and concerns over a potential oversupply. Crude oil has traded within a narrow range since mid-last month, influenced by Middle East tensions, the US election, and OPEC+ output decisions. Gold remains under pressure and is currently at just $2604.36 per ounce. It hit a one-month low, down 5% since Trump’s election victory, as a strong dollar and US equity rotation pressured the metal. Gold’s decline was also technical, breaking below the 50-day moving average, causing funds to cover long positions. Despite recent drops, gold remains up 25% for the year, supported by central bank purchases and geopolitical risks. Always trade with strict risk management.
