Trading in Australia

Recommended Posts

Hi there..

I just recently moved from the US to Australia. I was trading the YM and ES but am not particularly liking my new hours. Anyone have any suggestions for instruments I can switch to?

Thanks!

Kelly

Don't forget CFD's and also options as well. Futures markets on the SFE are not as liquid as the CME so that will take some adjustment.

If you trade the Nikkei via the SGX you will get a lot more liquidity but also more volatility. The HSI is also fantastic.

When trading the SPI be wary of the movement in commodity prices in particular as iron ore, copper, gold and silver prices effect many of our large mining companies which tend to influence the markets.

I live in western australia and trade Oil and the DAX. In particular the DAX suits my time frame. In winter, now, opens 2pm W.A. time and in the summer at 3pm. Oil usually moves around the same time. If you have found something better I would appreciate a reply. Lance

The SPI is a bit like the DOW in that 80% of it is made up of the top twenty stocks or so, and those twenty are dominated by about 5-6 stocks and so is not necessarily the best measure of the market, but it can be profitable once you get the hang of it. Becareful of the SYCOM night sessions after 4.30pm - they can get very very thin
