I have not visited the chatroom in a long time but in a thread I started about chat services, hlm mentioned there was discussion about going to a new service (separate from TL). I suggest you contact him directly.

Too bad you can't get any real info here since it's obvious those in the chatroom saw this thread.

I think it's like anything, we always need some "power users" to be involved to make it interesting -- more than likely people come and go without saying anything or contributing. So the Chat likely counts on a few key players to do a lot of the commentary/discussion and that starts to bring people out and involved. Maybe someone can have the idea to hold a chat on a specific topic, market, real-time calls, etc... and we can have some posts on here promoting it to generate some interest and participation.

You really think we would leave Bil out in the dark? C'mon brownsfan... you know we're better than that!

And then maybe we could quit sending emails about puretick.com. :) No offense intended, of course. I understand there are bills to pay.

I didn't realize this was hush-hush and no public information would be given out to the rest of those here.

:roll eyes:

Is there a secret knock to get into this new off-site chatroom?

Hey... anyone that came to the chat room was immediately alerted of what happened. No secret knock required. P.S. What is your skype username?

Excellent idea Steven - you should probably take the lead to get interest your chatroom going again! I'm confident that real-time calls that make money would most definitely get the interest of TL and get the chatroom going once again. Those interested can interact w/ you as well as seeing your trading in a live setting.

A broken record man...What is the obsession with real time calls? We never have any issues with that. We're all in the room trading and talking about why we took a trade or what we're looking for in another. Then when trading gets slow, we B.S. about health, airplanes, and television. We're not selling shit and we don't want people to believe us. Ever since DbPhoenix didn't release his P&L, you've have this weird fetish with traders releasing their results. Let it go man. In any case, DbPhoenix came to the forum and released a ton of good information that only helped this forum (and I imagine drove a lot of traffic... wink wink... business men).

FWIW, here is my P&L for the week. Now everyone come watch me trade! I'll make real time calls for all of you. Then again maybe I won't, because it's fairly distracting to have to type my entries into a chat... or even talk about them aloud... And then again, I'll remember I'm not trying to capture a following or selling a book, so I don't care what people think. The idea of this forum is to help people... not to force them to become transparent. Information...traders helping traders. I guess this boils down to: what the hell is your problem?

**Disclaimer: Results may be fabricated and this may be fake entirely. You'll never know. ;) What is the point of posting a P&L after the fact. If your bank account grows, proving yourself to other traders on a forum is probably the least of your worries.**

wjrusnak thanks for the understanding on the emails - keeps the lights on and everything else about the site free.

Good work keeping it positive on the week with your trades. I'll attach mine for last two weeks just so people don't think I'm throwing darts at a board to pick my trades (ok, sometimes) but I had a really good week last week, this week was so-so, I made one big error yesterday that knocked me down a notch. Still, always looking forward to Monday to get back in the game.

I would say I agree that everyone has a lot to offer at all experience levels and it doesn't always require full transparency, as long as the intent is to contribute, share and learn I think we're all going to be better traders as a result.

Before your rant, did you happen to see what Steven, the new TL admin posted... NOT ME.

Not my idea this time, but nice try.

Suggestion was simple - if TL admin wants to bring his chatroom up from the dead and he would like to see real-time calls being made, then why not start that up himself?

See the idea/correlation?

Nice to see that you are overly concerned with my posts though.

I think we're actually all on the same page so hopefully we can avoid making it personal. We probably just all have different ideas what people want in chat, or what would make it appealing.

I don't know how often I can be in chat, but I'll at least try to make an effort to make some contribution in there.

For everyone else it's obviously voluntary. In the past I have been part of some chat rooms, many times less for the actual analysis and more just for the camaraderie since trading can be an isolating profession and sometimes it's nice to have "virtual" drinking buddies in a particularly bad day.

At any rate, I'm open to anything to making TL a great place to spend time.

That's pretty much what has happened. There were very few new people in chat, and most of the rest of us have been involved with chat for a year or more. The needs of the group shifted, and we're all at least acquainted with each other's styles.

Everyone who was involved at all in chat was notified of the change, and the we are not some secret closed off group. There's absolutely nothing against TL or anyone here. Also, it seems the new plans are excellent for those looking to learn off pros, or watch over someone's shoulder.

That's absolutely pathetic. I always thought everyone in the chatroom made at least $500k a day.

We've had one for years. Vendors and shills were never a big issue.

No vendor would have wanted to hang around for long after seeing the rubbish we used to post.

Rubbish? Really? My time there was anything but….! Adding two additional markets to my daily trade possibilities put a damper on my participation early last year (or there about), or else I probably would have still been active.

    • Date: 18th December 2024.   UK Inflation Climbs: All Eyes on the Fed’s Next Move!   US Retail Sales increase by 0.7% in November surpassing expectations of +0.6%. The US Dollar Index rose in value on Tuesday after starting the day with a bearish price gap. This week the US Dollar Index trades sideways as traders await the Fed’s rate decision. The Federal Reserve will confirm their rate decision this evening with most experts expecting a 0.25% adjustment. The UK’s inflation rate increases from 2.3% to 2.6% meeting the market’s previous expectations. The GBP quickly increases in value against all currencies. Analysts expect the Bank of England to pause but expect at least 2 monetary policy members to vote for a rate cut. GBPUSD - Both The Fed and BoE Are Scheduled To Announce Their Interest Rate Decisions! The GBPUSD rose up to 0.40% in value on Tuesday before slightly retracing and closing the day with a 0.21% gain. The increase in value is primarily due to the UK’s employment data which shows signs of stability and salary growth. The Bank of England is concerned the growth in salaries will continue to provide support for inflation. As a result, the BoE will likely pause in today’s rate decision.     During this morning's Asian session, the GBP saw a sudden bullish spike after the UK made public its inflation rate. The UK’s inflation rate increased from 2.3% to 2.6% which is an 8 month high. The higher rate of inflation along with high salary growth is likely to prompt the Bank of England to keep the rate unchanged at tomorrow’s meeting and for the upcoming months thereafter. October's labor market data, which came in positive, continues to improve sentiment towards the Pound and UK. The unemployment rate held steady at 4.3%, employment rose by 173,000 instead of the expected drop of 12,000. Average wages, both with and without bonuses, grew by 5.2%, beating forecasts of 4.6% and 5.0%, respectively. On Tuesday, the GBP rose in value against the US Dollar, Swiss Franc and the Euro, but fell in value against the JPY. During this morning’s Asian session, the GBP is increasing in value against all currencies except against the Euro. However, traders will monitor if the GBP is able to maintain momentum against the US Dollar. Bank of England Supporting The GBP! As inflation in the UK over the past 3 years rose to a level substantially higher than the US and the Eurozone, the Bank of England is aiming to cut interest rates at a slower pace. The UK’s inflation peak was at 11.1%, the US inflation peak was 2% lower and the EU 0.5% lower. As a result, the GBP is maintaining its value and has been supported by this factor over the past 2 days. All experts currently believe the Bank of England will keep its base rate at 4.75% and cut rates at a slower pace than the Federal Reserve. However, investors believe that of the 9 members within the Monetary Policy Committee, 2 will vote for a rate cut. If more than 2 vote to cut rates, the Pound may come under short term pressure. Federal Reserve The Federal Reserve is due to make a decision on the Federal Fund Rate. Currently, the market believes the FOMC will vote to adjust rates by 0.25%. The CME FedWatch Tool indicates there is a 95% chance of the Federal Reserve opting to cut to 4.25-4.50% and the slightly lower bond yields also indicate a cut. However, when taking into consideration the rise in consumer and producer inflation, resilient employment sector and yesterday’s strong retail sales data, the possibility of a pause remains. The US Retail Sales increased by 0.7% in November surpassing expectations of +0.6%. The increase was the strongest in 4 months, however, Core Retail Sales only rose by 0.2%. One of the main elements which traders will be monitoring is if the Fed will indicate 2 or 3 cuts. Currently, the market is pricing in another 2 rate cuts. If the Chairman, Mr Powell, indicates the central bank could cut up to 3 times, the US Dollar is likely to come under pressure. Some traders fear that the Fed may suggest a full pause in the easing cycle or a significant slowdown in 2025. This concern has arisen because of inflation and newly elected US President Donald Trump's trade tariff policies on imports. If traders sense this hawkish tone within the Chairman’s Press Conference this evening, the US Dollar could see significant gains. Particularly as this will trigger higher bond yields which are already trading close to 6 month highs. For further information on the Federal Reserve and Bank of England’s rate decision traders can join HFM’s Live Analysis on YouTube (Today at 12:00 GMT).         GBPUSD - Technical Analysis In terms of technical analysis, the GBPUSD maintains its slightly bullish bias as per yesterday’s market analysis article. However, even though the price has risen since yesterday, the GBPUSD has yet to hit the 1.27464 level mentioned earlier. The price movement will depend strongly on the Federal Reserve’s rate decision and the guidance they provide for the upcoming 1-2 quarters. If the GBPUSD is able to maintain bullish price movement and rise again back up to the day’s high (1.27264), the exchange rate may maintain its buy indications from Moving Averages, RSI and price action.       Always trade with strict risk management.
