MACD Divergence TrendLine

Recommended Posts

to keep things in order,

you should post your code in the stochastic-divergence thread

I'd be interested in the ability to add a moving average or linear moving average to define trend, and only show divergences in the direction of the trend.

Greatly cuts down on the signals... but increases the probability of continuation.

Hi Snowbird

Would U mind 2 make a rough of your idea and post it ?

Two images

1st shows MacD divergences per the indicator in this thread

2nd shows MacD divergences filtered using TAMs moving trend (linear regression mov avg?)

basically divergences would only be shown in the direction of the moving average.

Hi snowbird

Smart idea 2 take position only in the direction of the trend

Try this

or post the code of your trend indicator

condition98 = whatever 2 define the way of the trend U want ; // in your ex it should B Trend Dn
condition99 = The opposite of condition 98;

if condition98 then begin
Code divergence up
end;

if condition99 then begin
Code divergence dn
end;

AAA/TAMS or anyone else knowledgeable... how would I got about adding an alert feature to this indicator?

press the [F1] key

and look up the ALERT keyword in the dictionary.

I'm not sure how to translate that to this specific code. I used other indicators with alerts already coded in as reference but it doesn't appear to work.

Got any other suggestions?

Hi AAA and thanks for sharing your indicators. I imported your indicator in Multicharts and plotted in to a 1-Minute chart. Maybe I use it in a bad way but, as you can see in the attached image, I found two divergences not displayed by the indicator. See the red lines inside the two red rectangles. Do I have to use it in a different type of char? (i.e. 5 min chart)

I'd like to use it even in a tick chart but it doesn't look good. Do you have any idea? Thanks anyway for your job.

Hi Tams. I'm not a "divergence guru" and I still have to learn a lot about this. But in my divergences I see a little market reverse, not big but almost similar to those related to the blue lines which are automatically displayed by the indicator. I used it with default values:

FastLength: 12

SlowLength: 26

Length: 20

LeftStrength: 3

RightStrength: 3

Anyway, does anybody use this indicator with the same values cited above? Or has made some changes to the code?

Cheers

looks like the indicator is more intelligent than your "eye ball"...

I would not call those "little market reverse". May retrace, but definitely not reverse.

as far as the code's algorithm is concerned, it has "rejected" those incidences as "divergences".

Ciao clochardo

I found two divergences not displayed by the indicator

Algo is similar in both indic

So we should have same divergences

Have U tweaked both with same values ?

Is anyone else have found this prblem ?

Do I have to use it in a different type of char? (i.e. 5 min chart)

it should work in all resolution

I'd like to use it even in a tick chart but it doesn't look good.

What do U mean ?

Like divergences everywhere ?

I'm not a "divergence guru" and I still have to learn a lot about this.

Hope these charts helps U 2 B a future "Divergence Guru" ;=)
