There is no doubt that $800 is at (or maybe below) that fine line, especially with ES.

Perhaps, since you are only trading one lot, you could use the YM @ $5/tick as your initial instrument until you come up with an approach that suits you.

Best Wishes,

Thales

I am keeping a master spreadsheet, which is tracking the cumulative results of all those who are and have participated. I will continue to keep the master spreadsheet, and I will post its results at the end of week 20.

For race record purposes, I have put in $930 to date and my total losses are $821.77 (including broker fees). My current balance is 108.23. I am not sure how important it is to post statement images proving I am out currently of the race...lol.

I had set aside $1800 at the start of the race, but as I said before I am not putting more money in until I get back in town in the second week of June.

I think that given the small starting stakes and the relatively few participants that it is unlikely that the cumulative losses accrue above a five figure level.

I would guess that the positive balances will be slightly less than the cumulative negative balances unless someone gets on a nice streak. It will be interesting to see.

I forgot about YM! Yeah, that will probably be better than TF, at least until I can get the account up to a decent amount...

Thanks!

No problem, amswak. Once you are ready officially to re-enter, I will re-list you in the summary. Once you re-enter, I will start you right where you left off. I just thought that since you said you wanted to sim trade some strategies, it would be better to remove you from the active roster so as to not perhaps influence you into a premature return.

If do you wish for me to continue to include in the current active roster, just let me know, and I will re-list you immediately. For the record, I don't consider you out of The Race unless you say you are out for good, as you made your intentions perfectly and publically clear here in the thread. If you think it would be better to keep you listed as active, I will readily do so. If you prefer me to keep it as I have it for now, then rest assured that when you're ready to return, we'll be ready for you. And I do hope you get the million (along with everyone else in The Race).

Best Wishes,

Thales

lol, and then, once someone wins, we can all use it as our baseline for how large of an account you should really have to make it to a million dollars. oooh, then if we make a slick name for it and call it a trading rule, we can write a book and make another million! I can see it as a best seller on Amazon now: "The Thales Number: How to Make a Million Trading" I will be waiting for my royalty check to come in the mail for my part....:D

Hi Folks,

Here is the week four update. I have removed those who have not provided any update nor a PM with closing equity.

I have also decided that we ought to acknowledge the current leader, and going forward, the leader will be shown with a green "leader jersey" and special font. This week saw the third lead change of The Race. Congratulations to fxcowboy, the current leader!

I wish everyone a great week.

Best Wishes,

Thales

You could also simply sort the list for easy visual ranking..

I found that the day really tested my patience ito sticking to my plan. I nevertheless managed to do that and am happy with the result.

My statement makes it look like I did a lot of trading today but in reality I just closed out a few small trades from last week. I took 4 trades today and have a few short runners on in the EURUSD and EURJPY.

Cheers,

fxT

EDIT: closed out the balance of my trades. Will post an updated statement tomorrow. Just too tired now.

Hey Guys,

Sorry but I did not post a statement today, and hope to at some point on Wednesday afternoon. For Monday and today. I did trade though, lost some yesterday, and won some today. This travelling sucks and limiting my ability to post my statements. It should all end on Wednesday though.

I just ran across a promotion from CMS Forex: Open an account (with none of your own money) and they'll deposit $50US in it.

Thales, I think you have a great thing going here (and I'll enter soon), but wouldn't it be the coolest to imagine a contest where everyone starts with literally nothing and races to some real goal?

Regards.

dwt

PS. I'm in no way affiliated with CMS...

Gents,

I have seen enough and am moving to another system that works better in this type of market. I will be back this evening, so I will post all missing statements upon my return. Onward and upward.

Thanks for noticing guys. This is probably my best day ever in percentage terms. There was plenty of movement today in EUR/USD, and that helped a lot.

Best regards,

FX_Cowboy

Agree with the others - that is some really nice trading!

Cheers,

fxT

    • Date: 2nd April 2025.   Market on Edge: Tariff Announcement and Volatility Ahead!   The US economic and employment data continues to deteriorate with the job vacancies figures dropping to a 5-month low. In addition to this, the IMS Manufacturing PMI also fell below expectations. However, both the US Dollar and Gold declined simultaneously following the release of the two figures, an uncommon occurrence in the market. Traders expect a key factor to be today’s ‘liberation day’ where the US will impose tariffs on imports. USDJPY - Traders Await Tariff Confirmation! Traders looking to determine how the USDJPY will look today will find it difficult to determine until the US confirms its tariff plan. Today is the day when Trump previously stated he would finalize and announce his tariff plan. The administration has not yet released the policy, but investors expect it to be the most expansionary in a century. President Trump is due to speak at 20:00 GMT. On HFM's Calendar the speech is stated as "US Liberation Day Tariff Announcement". Currently, analysts are expecting Trump’s Tariff Plan to impose tariffs on the EU, chips and pharmaceuticals later today as well as reciprocal tariffs. Economists have a good idea of how these tariffs may take effect, but reciprocal tariffs are still unspecified. In addition to this, 25% tariffs on the car industry will start tomorrow. The tariffs on the foreign cars industry are a factor which will particularly impact Japan. Although, traders should note that this is what is expected and is not yet finalised. Last week, President Trump stated that he would implement retaliatory tariffs but allow exemptions for certain US trade partners. Treasury Secretary Mr Bessent and National Economic Council Director Mr Hassett suggested that the restrictions would primarily target 15 countries responsible for the bulk of the US trade deficit. However, yesterday, Trump contradicted these statements, asserting that additional duties would be imposed on any country that has implemented similar measures against US products. The day’s volatility will depend on which route the US administration takes. The harshness of the policy will influence both the Japanese Yen as well as the US Dollar.   USDJPY 5-Minute Chart   US Economic and Employment Data The JOLT Job Vacancies figure fell below expectations and is lower than the previous month’s figure. The JOLT Job Vacancies read 7.57 million whereas the average of the past 6 months is 7.78 million. The ISM Manufacturing Index also fell below the key level of 50.00 and was 5 points lower than what analysts were expecting. The data is negative for the US Dollar, particularly as the latest release applies more pressure on the Federal Reserve to cut interest rates. However, this is unlikely to happen if the trade policy ignites higher and stickier inflation. In the Bank of Japan’s Governor's latest speech, Mr Ueda said that the tariffs are likely to trigger higher inflation. USDJPY Technical Analysis Currently, the Japanese Yen Index is the worst performing of the day while the US Dollar Index is more or less unchanged. However, this is something traders will continue to monitor as the EU session starts. In the 2-hour timeframe, the USDJPY is trading at the neutral level below the 75-bar EMA and 100-bar SMA. The RSI and MACD is also at the neutral level meaning traders should be open to price movements in either direction. On the smaller timeframes, such as the 5-minute timeframe, there is a slight bias towards a bullish outcome. However, this is only likely if the latest bearish swing does not drop below the 200-Bar SMA.     The key resistant level can be seen at 150.262 and the support level at 149.115. Breakout levels are at 149.988 and 149.674. Key Takeaway Points: Job vacancies hit a five-month low, and the ISM Manufacturing PMI missed expectations, adding pressure on the Federal Reserve regarding interest rate decisions. Traders await confirmation on Trump’s tariff policy, which is expected to impact the EU, chips, pharmaceuticals, and foreign car industries. The severity of the tariffs will influence both the JPY and the USD, with traders waiting for final policy details. The Japanese Yen Index is the worst index of the day while the US Dollar Index is unchanged. Always trade with strict risk management.
