Hint: It's yellow.

And finally, its still about money/trade management.

My problem are mainly stops,

but maybe I have already overcome this issue.

Anyway, somehow its seems to me,

that if you are not able to trade one line (lagging or not?!)

more lines may be more difficult.

Excuse me, and best wishes for your thread.

This indicator itself, seems to be a good one.

Regards,

Hal

Hey Tams-

The jpegs above seem to referennce the Juriks AMA which was replaced and greatly improved by the JMA.

Additionally, the inputs for the "*BP AMA", which I assume you refer to as Juriks, do not match the AMA input selections from Jurik.

Could you post the code, please? Then I could verify its accuracy.

Thanks!

Is your intent to support this thread and its discussion of code for Jurik indicators?

The periods of the MA's on the JPEG vary from 3 to 10. Not a valid comparison at all.

depends on what you want to compare,

fixed period of MA "A" vs MA "B" ?

or see how a specific MA can approximate its price movements

and to see its ability to smooth out the noise and filter out the false signals?

you can use a fixed period as a starting point of comparison,

but it really does not lend much value to a smoothing end result,

because each MA goes through different iterations in its calculations.

I don't have the codes for the Jurik indicators.

Various versions of clones are available here:

We use the JMA for most all our data smoothing work, we have found none better.

While I feel that Mark is a bit weak when it comes to market and trading concepts, he works hard to keep his indicators up to date and to the best of my knowledge has always been fair with his customers and very giving of his time.

He promises new and "fantastic," (his words) functions to come. I for one am skeptical of these new "fantasitc" functions as Mark's entire body of work is lacking of both original work and market understanding.

Mark is very protective of his work and very tech savvy and my guess is that it will be very difficult to reverse engineer his indicators and their dlls.

Urma uses the correct term when he describes Mark Jurik's work as smoothing.

He's applying mathematical/electrical engineering techniques to the problem of smoothing data with the lowest lag and least overshoot. This is an interesting thing to do but its questionable if most will extract much profit from a faster smoother (mas are the common form of smoothers but it is unlikely that a JMA is strictly speaking and average). Better value will be achieved by spending time on understanding market structure and market action.

While, what you say is correct about the moving average itself, Mark Jurik has combined the JMA with other common indicators like RSI, CCI , ADX and Stochastics to produce smoothed versions that are responsive. What is the experience of those that have used these indicators called RSX, CCX, DMX and VEL?

Here is one of my trade entry set-up charts where I do use some Jurik indicators for reference entry criteria as I look at Price / Cumulative Delta / Smoothed CD in the three panes shown.

So far I am pleased with the Jurik indicators for my use to reference points for trade entry criteria while tracking both Price and Cumulative Delta.

I have known Mark for more than a decade.

His site is Jurik Research and posted on that site is his phone of 719-686-0074.

He has always been very giving of his time. As I mentioned before we have found no better utility to smooth data than his JMA.

The JMA can be also used to build such indicators as RSI, MACD, Stochastic, etc., that are much smoother and with less lag.

cheers

I have also had favorable contacts with Mark since the early 90's

and his JAMA function has been a mainstay (with a specific, not general, purpose) in my systems work for a long time now.

Its main value to me is that it gets flat quicker and more accurately than ANY of the other averages out there.

Posted this elsewhere - the HULL ma is often a little bit quicker in the turns, can track closer in some condiitons, but can have also have more overrun than JMA

re "have used these indicators called RSX, CCX, DMX and VEL"

In my limited experience, all his stuff except the adaptive MA is basically worthless... but that's only for MY needs... someone else may find creative and profitable uses for them...most 'smoothing' is an act of denial... learn to work with the jagged edge

Thanks Zdo, Could you please post some pictures of how you use the indicaqtors with say an eMini, or Stock or currency pair chart? There are several templates provided with the indicators that combine indicators and smooth them out as well. I was looking for ideas how to use them for timing entries and exits.

Yes, I was looking at Fulcrum's pictures from this page and noticed how smoothing plus the use of Heiken Ashi removed the edges - which does make staying in easy. But with the edges went support and resistance opportunities.

Resting inventory support & resitance for the "where" to take a trade from is already determined through Cumulative Delta volume distribution tracking....the scalp indicator set-up is used for "at the moment" final trade entry determination.

I wanted to post some of the indicators in relation to price action on a similar time frame on the same trading instrument. I hope this post helps people understand these indicators. I also had a chance to speak to Mark Jurik and he is willing to provide his input on the forum.
