RSofHouston Education Service, Any Good?

Recommended Posts

Hello TL Members,

Does anyone out there have any experience with this trading education service? They obviously put out good marketing material, but I would like to hear from fellow traders if this is a worthwhile service or another rip off service? I can tell you I have tried Traders International and Ablesys and they both suck, stay away from these two educational (or trading tool services). I am surprised with the number of traders on this forum that we don't have one thread where everyone posts their experiences with the 1000's of educational providers out there. Maybe this can be the thread? Post what you have tried and if it was good, bad, or neutral.

Funny enough I just got this email from them...

Welcome back to OnlineTrader Central, the Virtual Conference site brought to you through hotComm technology.Traders from every discipline now can visit with the leading software companies, investment resources, trading guru’s, and other traders right from the comfort of their computer. OTC integrates hotComm interactive technologies from 1stWorks with a simple web page interface that makes navigating a large Convention Center, with up to 100 exhibitor booths, presentation rooms and the “Traders Lounge”, an effortless trip.

This Tuesday, March 3, 2009, at 11:00 AM ET, we will feature Ron Schoemmell & Valdi Thorkelsson, the founders of R.S. of Houston:

During the webinar Ron Schoemmell & Valdi Thorkelsson, the founders of R.S. of Houston Workshop, will show you HOW and WHY price patterns consistently provide some of the most reliable, easy to identify, high-probability trading opportunities. They will also share details of one of their favorite patterns and demonstrate numerous chart examples. Participants in the webinar will learn to identify this pattern as it sets up at the hard-right edge of their screen and be equipped to start trading it immediately upon completion of the webinar.

This easily identified pattern is one of the six patterns that comprise the highly acclaimed R.S. of Houston Trading Methodology and has frequently been associated with major market tops and bottoms. It works for all markets, in all timeframes and frequently precedes significant moves on the daily charts.

In addition to being a powerful pattern for swing-traders it is also quite useful in intra-day trading as demonstrated by several recent chart examples of this set-up, in timeframes ranging from 5 to 60 min. in the E-mini S&P's, E-mini Russell2000, mini-Dow and other markets, that will be presented during the webinar

Info on Presenters:

The principals of R.S. of Houston Workshop have accumulated 35+ years combined experience in trading and have been teaching traders their proprietary strategies for trading stock index futures for over 13 years. Their workshops are consistently sold out in locations across the U.S. and internationally. Their methods are applicable to any market in any timeframe and in recent years they have started expanding their coverage to several more markets, incl. T-Bonds, Crude Oil, Grains and Softs

RSofHouston Workshop offers FREE trading lessons for registrants at their website: http://www.rsofhouston.com

Hello, well I attended the RSofHouston webinar today. At first they played their usual intro slideshow that I have seen before. Then they explained one of their price action setups and this was pretty good. My thought, from this you can start to see if their method has a fit to your trading personality. My only problem was then they showed 20 different old 20/20 hindsight charts showing how well this setup has worked in the past. Of course they showed a few failed setups too. My problem, in this modern internet marketing world, why don't they have a day of real time trading at the hard right edge where they can call out their setups in real time. Nobody expects them to all work, but at least you can then see that they do have a method and they can make real time calls. Most importantly a trader can see if the method has a personality fit. Their course is expensive, but what do I know, they are obviously still selling people on their courses even with these crappy webinars. I am still surprised that more traders have not come out to comment on this trader education company.

Hello,

The reason being many services have gone through legal firms to threaten me with lawsuits over bad reviews. Hence it is just not worth my time and resources to publish such details on the forum. No way I would risk losing this site over a few posts.

Also why bother with the continuous search for the holy grail through such services? Everything you ought to know about trading is available pretty much for free whether on TL or other sites. The holy grail is YOU. Until you master that no service in the world is going to help you to become a profitable trader.

Anyhow the fact that these services are worried so much about their reputation and would go out of the way to try to bring TL down says something dont you think?

You could learn all of the patterns for free on this website .

Also try this link: http://www.trading-naked.com/Setups.htm

Don't waste your money on these guys, one is based in Houston and the other somewhere in Iceland I believe, total rubbish, all the patterns are easy to read and explain in hindsight, it is a very different ball game trying to trade them in real time. You are much better of reading price action via price and vol first and there is enough info here to get you going and then get on to patterns via candlestick chart pattern threads etc.

All available here and without charge.

Hope this helps

Perhaps you would do better pursuing a good stock trading software, such as Omnitrader, Telechart (Worden), or MetaStock. StockCharts.com is a really good site with a lot of free information, free charts, and has a chart school that'll give you a lot of information.

But as Mr. James Lee pointed out in an earlier post, there is no holy grail. Try to remember that whatever you learn about trendlines, support and resistance, Fib's,etc.etc., the Specialists and Market Makers, (the Composite Operator) knows too, and they can and will, use this information to their advantage to take out stops, chase out weak holders, and increase their inventories at lower prices in order to sell to the "greedy" when they believe the market can have a sustained rally. Some of the sharpest minds in the world are traders. Try to learn how to trade with them.

Good luck.

I can tell you they are a pain in the ass- not sure how I ever even got on their mailing list- but I have gotten their DVD twice. I won't say I know so much about their "system" but the folks on the DVD seem happy.

As has been said- if it works, it does. But I think the cost on that thing was out of this world- like $5K or something. I have plenty of better uses of $5K than some trading companies idea of "the grail"

Want to save some $:

1. Learn to read Price Action

2. Learn everything you can about Support and Resistance.

3. Take your time and endure the pain- no one succeeds in this industry without sheer grit and perseverence.

I just saved you $5,000 bucks!

Aaron

I did say I had not taken the course. I have learned more from people on this very board, by being humble, courteous and willing to learn.. and it didn't cost me $4K!
