Can you tell us what is interesting about this, Torero?

Please be descriptive as to why you like this service.

What do you find about it that might be of use to the average trader?

Thanks,

Question for the tech guys out there - would it be possible to replicate this service (text based portion) by just using a RSS feeder or something along those lines?

I don't pay attention to the random news during the day like others, but I've recently thought about creating a RSS feeder and using that for a similar idea like what Tor posted here.

My best guess FS is that some traders want/need to see any and all news and this software condenses it all into one piece. I tested this particular one out well over a year ago and the audio part drove me nuts b/c there was dead silence a lot of the time. I guess if you just used it around big news releases and could use it to your advantage, it might work in that situation. But for daily use, all day, I would get bored with it.

Surely that depends on exactly WHAT is coming out of it. When it was active, what sort of info were you hearing? I have no particular desire to try and get the NFP number a second quicker than I could get it on my bloomberg, I am more interested in quality information.

Feedback appreciatded.

What about Open E Cry? Their OEC Trader should have one built-in to the latest iteration of their software.

If you are interested in a free real time news service, and trade during us hours, this is what I use.

http://www.newsstrike.com/

I, have been using them for about two months, they provide all the economic news for the us along with stock news, market updates and rumors, up to the minute. You download, teamspeak, and provide them with name and phone number ( never once called me?). Don't ask me how it's provided for free, but I will continue to use them as I am interested in news for entertainment and I occasionally like to know whats going on over the broader market.

Take care

I've never used the service but was about to download when I realized it's a subscription service. So I have no comment on it. In general, immediate release of news with their numbers might be useful for forex traders since the numbers have some influence on which way the market might move or not even move. I think there is a slight difference between trading news on stocks/futures vs forex. Currencies seem to move in the original direction of its break on the news more often than stocks or futures (my observation only so don't use that against me).

The news might be a surprise or not that may affect the currencies. I, for one, once in a while trade news but only after the dust has settled.

Just a word to the wise, if you are trialling TTN, be sure to follow the directions for cancellation to the letter, or they will charge your account without question.
