I have downloaded the marketprofile.eld indicator that some of you have posted here. It does not seem to have changed my chart. Can someone give some help here?

Is it something that only updates when the market is open? If so, that is the problem because it is the weekend.

If someone could post a screen shot or some simple instructions, I would be most appreciative.

Thanks

Welcome to the forum. Please link the URL to the MP indicator you are using from this forum; not sure which one you are referring to.

If you are using the TPO_Pro5 from the TS forum, try a 15 min chart with about 20 trading days of data (see attached for @ES) and use compress setting of 4 so that the letters are not all squeezed together (also try a fix courier font on TS chart). The indicator does not depend on bid/ask or other transient data.

If you using the MP indicator by Antonio (Ant), that is code protected and has expired a while ago (perhaps one year) and no longer display anything on your chart.

There is no support on any of these indicators, it is just a matter of trial and error.

Here are some notes from the TS forum on the TPO_Pro5 indicator

{ Regular Session by using @ER2.D you should eliminate the off-hour MP's. Also, you have to use a

non-proportional font like Courier to have the letter spacings show up properly, or a letter "I" takes

up less horizontal space than a letter "M" and throws-off the histogram. You can do this by right-clicking

on some of the letters, "No" to format Analysis technique. Then choose a fixed-width font and check Default.

Then reload the chart with Ctrl-R. Unfortunately, ALL text on ALL your charts will now use the fix-space font

when the charts reload - TS can't have some one way, and others another way...

I went 10 days back on data, as little as 5 will work. Try changing the Compression and Length inputs to 3,

or a lower number than the default depending on you screen resolution .

According to Robls99 in another post:

The current function for Session time have been changed to:

SessionStartTime(SessionType, SessionNum)

SessionEndTime(SessionType, SessionNum)

where: SessionType is a numeric value: 0 = Auto Detect, 1 = Regular Session

Session Num specifies the specific session that should be returned.

See the TradeStation User Guide (Help tab) for further info.

Can we change the code to a way that we can auto detect session? I tried changing the input to

SessionStartTime(0, 1) and still doesnt work. What can i do?

you can look here . For 07/26/07 you see the dates

http://www.charthub.com/images/2007/07/27/ym_rth_mp

By definition, the POC is the longest line of TPO's closest to the center of the range.

The value area is where "70% of or thye day's business is conducted." (per Dalton's Mind over Markets).

The value area is approximately 1 standard deviation of the total price movement. Some use a volume value

area, TPO value area or both. The POC or point of control is the price where most of the TPOs exist.

Initiating trades at the POC may be less likely to succeed. You often find random movement at the POC

on a normal day type. At the POC, price is at the middle of the of the "bell curve" and could go in

either direction.

ok figured it out. my value area percentage was wrong. When i made it 70% it is fine now

OK. After reading you post and others, I can not get my market profile to match anyones numbers.

I have loaded the symbol @ES 15m regular session. It seems that the MP wants to break up the day into 2 parts. Yours does not seem to be that way. Also when I check the numbers against a couple of sources, the numbers are not correct.

Here is what mine looks like.

Thanks,

Thrunner,Can you please PM or post a link to the .eld file ?thanks!
Hi Mr. Paul, Various members have posted links to eld lately to a Market Profile indicator. I believe they are all based on the TS forum MP indicator TPO_Pro5b because they all look about the same and that is the one I showed above and the one BigEd is trying out. Here is the other recent link I believe by gnassh : http://www.traderslaboratory.com/forums/f6/mp-trading-with-market-profile-3135.html#post27703

I personally don't use MP, but I keep it around just to see what other traders may be looking at and acting upon.

BigEd, you can try a @ES.D chart instead to avoid the after session activation of the MP indicator. I am not awared of too many MP traders using it for trading outside of RTH (regular trading hr) You can also check your numbers here:

http://www.mypivots.com/forum/topic.asp?whichpage=0.7&TOPIC_ID=2531⫀ They are free and usually accurate. If your numbers come within a few ticks of what they got, I think that is pretty accurate for MP, considering not everybody is using the same data feed.

Here is the file that I got working. It is from TS fourums. It seems to be the one that Thrunner is talking about. If anyone has an updated one, I would also be interested.

BigEd, I got it working on the ESZ08.D contract. However, have been trying to get it to work on the ESZ08 contract but do not know how to do it? Do you have an idea?

Basically, I need it to produce the market profile for the 24 hour period and not just the pit session.

Hi,

thx for posting this indicator.

I am wondering if there is a version out, that shows the value area only.

Looks like that whole market profile eld needs lot of resources.

Thx,

Goody

I use the TPO_PRO5b and it works just fine. I use mine on a 30 minute chart and I am pretty sure you can only use it with symbol @ES.D . I suppose u could type out the month and year but its not necessary. The important issue is, it need to be set on market hours only.

Does anyone know of a ELD for TS that shows the continuous plotting of the VL, VH and POC with just the horizantal lines and no letters?

Hi Brad

I used the TPO Pro5. ob eld . The one I used is for TS 8.3 or 8.4 and will not work on the TS 2000i (I think thats the name). Also, the version I use will only work on a 30 minute chart (not sure why). If you look on the TS forum it is there and has been for some time. Hope that helps.

The error message you are getting might be related to the RANGE of the security you are plotting...it might be hard coded .. also try it on daily REGULAR session, not globex. See if it works for you.

Does anyone know how to get this indicator to work for FOREX?

It does a great job with emini futures, but I get an error message if I try to use it for spot currencies. Anyone has any clue on what changes should be made to the ELD?

Thanks in advance for anyone who can help.

Your most likely getting an array bound error ... if so

Change the compress input in this manor, increas that input by 1 until the profile is ploted.

note: by doing that your telling the indicator to combine X ticks as one tick.

where x = the number of the compress input your using.

Or

your using TS costum sessions charts... if so the code as is will not work with costum sessions charts.

Take care
