Hello all, hope to learn from you folks. I have been trading the ER2 for about eight years, profitably for about seven years. :) I am always looking for new things to try out to squeeze more money from the ER2. I will be scanning the boards for information on free system-testing tools such as Metatrader.

Regards,

Just curious - why 'squeeze more out of the ER2?' If you've been profitable for 7 years, why wouldn't you continue to do what you've been doing, just with more contracts? My most difficult challenge with trading has been consistency. The number one impediment to my consistency has been discipline or 'changing lines' at the bank, i.e. switching strategies. You have all I ever wanted consistency and a great track record. Looking forward to your reply - Uli

Well, nothing financial is constant, except change. That extends to methods of trading. My methods have changed many times since I began trading the ER2, mostly due to liquidity issues. So, I am always looking for something new to try and backtest, for when the time comes that my current method no longer brings in the results I am used to. As long as it maintains the capital increase average that I want, I won't switch. But when (not if) it loses momentum, I will look into those methods on my shelf that I picked up out of curiosity.

Compounding contracts is one ticket to success, but you must be profitable over time FIRST. I do not subscribe to the notion that a trader should leverage himself to the hilt in order to maximize potential, because the good days are great but the bad days are hell. Imagine losing $20,000 in one trade, when a few months before, $20,000 was more than your account balance, or even your net worth. The mental drawdown that goes with the financial drawdown is just too much for all but the most chapped wills. I prefer a straighter line increase in capital with managed losses instead of wild-and-reckless, riding the market for all-she's-worth. I don't like stress. Doubling my account every six months, net of commissions and taxes, is what I fully expect from a strategy or set of strategies. Losing half of it the week after, whether or not I stand to double it again in another six months, is not my idea of sustainable trading. Guarding over multiple heart attacks is no way to retire young, which is my plan indeed.

Hope this helps. :)

Hello. No, I've never heard of him. I haven't ever really associated with local traders.
