Now here is the nicer version of the bands

Enjoy

yes, very nice Sparrow very good looking indicator... had been testing ccit3 and works ok as well...

So now I will get inspired and prepare the final template for this...

The nice edge we get on NT apart of this nice variations on the vma`s is the tick charts... can make timing very competitive... also nice for scalping on some volatile pairs like eur/jpy...

Thanks for this contributions Sparrow ¡¡ cheers Walter.

Sparrow

will you please elaborate in the form:

signal vmar_2(ema_periods, adx_periods, stoch_periods);

and

rainbow base vmar_2(ema_periods, adx_periods, stoch_periods);

Unicorn.

Maybe I did not phrase my question clearly.

Please explain the quantities that the question marks refer to.

by the way,

;)"nice chart, what are the parameters of the adx_periods, the stoch_periods and the ema_periods?" ;) hehehe

cheers

Unicorn.

Difficult one except for the FantailVMA1: ADX:5, EMA:3, MA:2, Stoch:5

Usually the parameters are arragended alphabetically so i'd go with:

ADX:5, BandIncrement: 4, BandEMAMin:2, BandEMAMax:100, EMA:5, MA:2, Stoch:5

When I'm debugging I am usually not in the best mood, so take it easy on me.

Would have been easier to ask Walter.

Great job Sparrow ¡¡

now the rainbow doesnt plot anything... maybe I am not using the correct inputs to it... no hurry on that Sparrow as I am also creating a rainbow out of the bands indicator... thanks so much for this ¡¡ cheers Walter.

Could be that the rainbow has a bug, if so could you please go to the main control of NT

->Tools->Output Window

On the chart open the indicator list.

If you get a lot of stuff on the window, please send it to me.

If it's just a configuration thing, here's how it work, in the Plot's section of the indicator there are values like this:

Band01

Band01Color

Band02

.

.

.

.

.

It draws a band when at least a value in band01 and band02 is present, and band2 must be higher than band1.

Btw you can disable the price markers in the indicator configuration, if you're using lines to print the rainbow.

Maybe my explanation isn't necessary, posted it just in case.

You could also try to change the FillType to Line, which will less likely produce an error.

Looks familiar walter, great that it works :D.

I hope the calculations are correct, which is the more important part.

Removing the price markers will make the chart even a bit better, easily done as described before.

Cheers

Cheers Walter, much appreciated, Nice work Sparrow and Unicorn

Just an observation, the candle formations are much clearer on the 11 tick compared to the 1 min chart.

well 11 tick is really a great edge for scalping.... on this chart its similar too the 55t on currency futures like Unicorns chart...

my ultimate wish eventually would be to have adxvma6 from Pyenner coded into NT... as I believe it has been the greatest masterpiece Bruce has developed so far... I imagine that line on a 11T chart here would be simply awesome...

Now what I see here its a scalpers haven... will probably need to start a new thread for what I see here... I dont want to mix aproaches... but its just great...

clean cristal clear charts... cheers Walter.

Here's also my first attempt of the sniper fx cci, i dunno if it is correct, hope someone can verify it. I used someone else's T3, dunno how well the results match up.

Sparrow

The MT4 version of sniper malfunctions on live ticks.

Sniper ran into the 8 array limit that MT4 imposes so he used variables for e1 to e6 (I think thats it) when he should have used arrays e1 etc.

Without arrays it does bar by bar okay but does not handle life ticks.

I think he used a repaint loop to correct the bar data. The live tick problem showed up when I removed the repaint step.

I think if you use arrays for e1 etc as for normal emas, it should fix the live tick problem and remove the need to repaint the most recent bar.

I still need to get past the 8 array limit before I can fix it in MT4.

Good luck

Tough nut to crack Bruce,

the NT code uses 7, funny the fxst3cci doesn't use EMAs on the es.

On NT some things are incredibly easy to do, you won't be burdened by many restriction. The language is more complex but also more powerful.

And sometimes I could just hit my head against the next wall:crap:, because something doesn't perform as expected, it's not all a piece of cake.

Hope you'll have a great idea and that code will work like a charm :D.

Cheers

Hi Sparrow... there is one little glitch on the rainbow indi and also happens with the bands one, that may require eventually some consideration... when I load template again.. he doesnt remember the colors... kind of fancy glitch.. lines dont get ploted until you asign a color and fills look all gray...

sorry about that... apart from that glitch, everything is ok... cheers Walter.

Hi guys (and the rare woman ),

Sorry, I wasn't aware of the problem, even coded an indicator some time ago that that has the same bug. Using colors in NT without lines/bars is very uncommon and it really takes some effort to get the colors saved.

Fortunately a guy at NT already did this before, otherwise it would have taken me days.

Hope everything is fine now, happy researching/trading.

CCI_T3_1.mq4

This is a version of Sniper using arrays for e1 to e6 instead of variables.

It confirms that arrays should have been used for the emas although the difference will only show up on live ticks.

This left the MT4 version without enough arrays to show the histogram lines, so what you get instead is a rainbow sequence of lines showing how the cci input signal gets progressively smoothed and delayed by the emas.

If NT has only 7 arrays then it looks like some of the later emas might be omitted, freeing up enough arrays to allow use of histo bars, same goes for an MT4 version, but is a more leading version of Sniper needed as it will also have more noise?

Judge from the rainbow lines...

Black line is the regular Sniper output.

Red line is e1 input, yellow is e2 etc thru to black.

If Sniper is going to get ported to other platforms, it might be worth going for arrays to guarantee stability on ticks, but reducing the number of arrays so that the common platforms can all still do histo bars.

Bruce, Congrats on solving the tough problems with the Sniper CCI.

I might have not phrased my NT stuff clearly, NT has an unlimited amount of arrays.

I did a 1:1 translation of Bruce's code of the ADXVMA to NT.

Things could be simplified using more NT indicators, Bruce should be much better at that.

Hope I got it right, have fun.

Cheers

Looks like I didn't get it right...

Got the line sequence mixed up somehow.

So I will pull the attachment and have another go.

Back to the drawing board...

CCI_T3_2.mq4

This time..

I am trying to avoid having MT4 diseases passed on to other platforms.

Sniper ran out of arrays so he cheated and used variables for the T3 ema's.

Result was that it malfunctions on live ticks, so he used a repaint step to correct the bars, but not the ticks.

If Sniper is going to be ported to other platforms then it has to use arrays for the emas. But then MT4 is unable to do arrays plus histo bars.

One option is to do without histo bars on MT4.

This is the other option, drop e6 which is the slowest of the ema's.

Result is a bit more leading than sniper and a bit more noise.

But if b=0.4 is used (default is 0.618) then you get something close to sniper but with no MT4 foulups to be passed on to other platforms.

It also won't be exactly T3 anymore... so you don't exactly win.

Whatever goes down, I hope other platforms will stick to using arrays so that the tick problem does not spread beyond MT4.

Another option would be to leave the MT4 version of sniper as it is, with tick problems, but just make sure that other platforms do it properly with arrays.

So, this version has arrays, but with e6 deleted in order to have histo bars.

If other people see other options then now might be a time to sort it out.

Whatever

Cheers all.

If you are thinking of moving over to Ninja Trader, the language looks very similar to MT4, so it might not be as much of this :bang head:

Cheers

Blu-Ray

Blu I have a foot in both camps now and you know

I like MT4 a lot but the diy indicator stuff seriously sucks and lack of English documentation is a major part of the problem.

There are some seriously good looking MT4 things coming out of Russia, like fast fourier transforms but again, no english versions,:doh:

I seem to be the only twit trying to program in MT4.

I'm not a whiz bang programmer, just a hacker, slow poke whatever.

I could surely have used some company from someone who knew something about MT4. But I don't even know how many people even want to stick with MT4.

I do want to look at volume and volume based charts.

So that means either NT or excel. Bought excel to do analysis, havn't used it yet. Just got NT demo going, I think:confused: At least it has better documentation than MT4 at first glance.

I don't think Sparrow will need help from me, I'm too slow.

So, maybe I can take a holiday anyway.

I would be happy to see the bulk of the development being done on NT or whatever fills the need.

I lost a week chasing around for an answer to the array shortage, googling programs to see how to do subroutines etc basic stuff but where is it documented? Cant be repeating overheads like that. If it can't be done in MT4 in a realistic "competitive" fashion, then I'm inclined to vote with my feet and move to NT or excel.

Cheers.

    • @sxiqxx, Well done on making your first post a promising strategy. @everyone, post up if you want this coded into an EA. Although I switched to TradeStation, I still have an active MT5 demo with MetaEditor. I can code it without referencing object oriented programming which should be retroactively compatible with MT4. Let me know...

This makes your performance 100% with little to no effort.   RESPONSE 2: Feel free to piss off your boss but stay nonviolent. When the side effects of his viagra and testosterone boosters cause him to physically assault you, you have the legal upper hand. This can result in a boatload of trading capital.   RESPONSE 3: Feel free to have intimate relations with your boss if she finds you attractive. Rest assured that mum's the word because once again, you have the legal upper hand. This can also result in a boatload of trading capital.   RESPONSE 4: Don't be fake friends with any enemies... unless you need information from them. Being fake friends with everyone will cause you to become an empty shell of a person with no direction in life.   REPONSE 5: Get your boss to become reliant on your performance (really, just the performance of your subordinates), and then plan an "overheard" conversation wherein you fake an interview with another potential employer. You'll probably get a pay increase or a promotion.   RESPONSE 6: If you can give your 75% percent to a project, give 50% and rely on your legal upper hand(s). • There are a lot of trading strategies like elliot waves, wyckoff etc so we need to apply those who best suited to our need and are understandable too.
    • Scalping can be good during the high volatile markets however the new traders should be careful while entering and exiting the markets too quickly since they can make losses as well. If the broker support news trading we can make most out of the scalping in my opinion.
    • In my opinion these candlestick charts are more easier to understand as compared with the other charts.
