#GBPUSD #Brexit
The GBP/USD was continuing to find buyers late in the day on Friday, with investors reacting to some UK media reports that said Boris Johnson had secured enough backing to support his deal. However, what matters is the actual votes in the ‘Super Saturday’ sitting.

#Labour is strongly advising its #MPs to oppose the deal, and most, perhaps all, are likely to do so. 10 ‘no’ votes appear all but inevitable from MPs of Ireland’s DUP party that has also vowed to oppose the deal. So, the fate of Boris Johnson’s plan hangs partly on Tory pro-Brexit MPs who have repeatedly voted down previous deals
The #PM is busily making pleading calls to MPs ‘across the Commons’ as the weekend approaches, says Downing Street. There’s really no telling how persuasive he will be, till the result of the vote is known. It’s a recipe for investors to execute only the most necessary moves in advance, before a possible ‘manic Monday’ in Saturday’s wake
#MarketsReaction
Should the deal get the majority required in Parliament for the #UK to leave the #EU in an orderly fashion, we could expect sterling to rally and the #FTSE to jump higher in a knee-jerk reaction, similar to what we saw on Thursday’s announcement of the Brexit deal. However, the stronger pound could eventually weigh on the #FTSE given the index’s high percentage of multinationals earning abroad which will be hit by the less favorable exchange rate.
Should Boris Johnson’s selling skills fail him, and the deal does not pass through #Parliament we can expect the pound and the FTSE to sell off sharply, the reverse of Thursday’s reaction, with the FTSE then potentially rebounding as it responds to sterling’s decline.

#ECB
It will be #MarioDraghi’s last policy meeting as the head of the #ECB, and having just re-introduced #QE at the last meeting he will likely go out with a whimper. The euro has appreciated since the ECB’s last meeting, partly because of Brexit optimism and also due to a weakening dollar. Also, raised hopes over a US-China trade resolution, which could boost Chinese demand for Eurozone exports, has also supported the single currency. Furthermore, several ECB policymakers have criticized Draghi’s renewed bond-buying program and called for a change of strategy when Christine Lagarde takes over next month. The probability of further policy loosening has therefore fallen.

#forex #forexnews #Brexit
#GBPUSD is trading at 1.2867, having breached key support on Tuesday, courtesy of Brexit delay.
The pound fell below the 50-hour moving average, confirming a bearish reversal on short duration charts. The key MA had consistently reversed pullbacks throughout the rally from 1.22 to 1.30 and may work as stiff resistance henceforth.

The GBP was offered as #PrimeMinister #Johnson's #BrexitBill won parliamentary support, but the government’s timetable of just 3 days debate on the bill was rejected.

With the parliamentary defeat, the probability of Britain leaving the European Union (#EU) before the Oct. 31 deadline has dropped sharply.

Further, a source in Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s office said on Tuesday that a new election would be the only way to move on from Britain’s Brexit crisis if the European Union agrees to a delay until January.

On a daily chart, the uptrend in GBP/USD appears to have stalled. Signs of indecision loom as a #Bearish Harami candlestick pattern risks paving the way for a reversal. Prices are eyeing near-term support which is a range between 1.2773 and 1.2798. A close under this barrier could open the door to testing former highs from September. Otherwise, clearing resistance at 1.3001 prolongs the uptrend.
Expectation for GBP to “retest the 1.3010/15 level” was incorrect as GBP rose briefly to 1.3000 before plummeting to 1.2862 during NY hours. Upward pressure has dissipated and the short-term risk is for a deeper pullback. That said, any weakness is viewed as a lower trading range of 1.2810/1.2920 and a sustained decline below 1.2810 appears unlikely for now.

Next 1-3 weeks:
#GBP tried to break clearly above 1.3000 for the second straight day yesterday (22 Oct) but slumped after touching 1.3000. For now, there is no change to our view from Monday (21 Oct, spot at 1.2880) wherein “GBP has to ‘punch’ above 1.3000 and register a NY closing above this level in order to indicate that the current rally has enough ‘ammunitions’ to extend to 1.3050, possibly as high as 1.3150”. While there is no change to our view, severely overbought conditions suggest GBP could ill afford to dither below 1.3000 or the risk of a short-term top would increase rapidly. From here, unless GBP cracks and stays above 1.3000 within these 1 to 2 days, a break of 1.2770 (no change in ‘strong support’ level) would indicate that the positive phase that started more than a week ago (see annotations in the chart below) has run its course. Looking ahead, a breach of 1.2770 would suggest that GBP is ready to ‘take a breather’ after the steep rally over the past couple of weeks.

The fate of the dollar could be decided by the upcoming #Fed policy decision. While the market is fully pricing in a third consecutive #RateCut, the odds for another cut in December have dropped to 40%.  The Fed is likely to cut rates but possibly signal they will wait-and-see the impact of recent batch of cuts.  #Powell has highlighted Greenspan’s mid-cycle adjustment in the 1990s and we could see that remain the game plan.
The #TradeWar should see incremental updates, but we may not see a major move until we get to the Trump-Xi meeting at the APEC summit next month. The #USD has weakened significantly in the early part of October and we could see this recent rebound be short-lived if the deep pessimism for the global outlook eases, and the dollar to remain very vulnerable.

#Oil prices have been rising towards the back end of the week aided by a surprise inventory drawdown on Wednesday. Oil has been gradually rising since testing its summer lows. Remains vulnerable to global growth worries and further attacks in the middle east.

#Gold has been creeping off its lows but is still struggling to gather any upward momentum. A softer dollar has aided the resilience in the yellow metal but it continues to linger around $1,500. Gold volatility has been relatively muted but the risk environment remains fragile.

The #UK remains in limbo as the country waits to hear whether its extension will be accepted and how long it will be. #BorisJohnson has proposed to Labour that in exchange for an election on 12 December, he will extend the timetable for the #BrexitBill until 6 November. Labour expected to respond on Monday once extension from EU becomes clear. It’s unclear when the #EU will respond as there’s apparently a dispute around whether to offer the full three months or just a couple of weeks, reportedly favoured by France. It’s extremely unlikely it will be rejected altogether but the currency remains volatile.
Weak economic data out of #China has a serious knock-on effect for most of Asia, who rely heavily on exports to China. It’s also likely to filter down to slower global growth.
Quarterly #CPI data on Wednesday could be a market mover, but it’s not the #RBA’s major focus at the moment. Prices have been trending lower since Q2 last year. Weak CPI data could give the RBA more wiggle space for rate cuts, which would be #AUD negative.

So I've been 18 for about 4 months, since I turned 18 I started up an account, and basically thought I was doing amazing because of beginners luck, put in some of my savings and managed to do well, some days I would make £200, one day I even made £900, after time I lost my profits and made a loss as well. I've realised I need to spend the time analysing the market and making technical judgments. I'm trying to read more and spend a lot of my time looking at the charts. is there any advice people can give me. and is making 5% a week a realistic goal to set myself? before anyone assumes that im looking for a get rich quick scheme, im certainly not, I see every loss ive made as a lesson and ensure that I learn from each mistake I make.
any advice about indicators, strategies, how to analyse the market, or even analysing earning reports would help me.

Firebird is an indicator to identify the price spikes in the market. Firebird indicator first calculates a 10-period moving average, then shifts this moving average a certain percentage above and below the 10-period moving average. The shifted averages are drawn on chart as the red and green line. When price touches these lines, price spike is identified. Usually after a price spike, the trend reverses for some time. The indicator can be used to take advantage of this price behaviors. In daily chart usually the 10 period MA is shifted by 2 percent to form the price bands. On lower time frames like Hourly, Four Hour a smaller percentage price shift is used like 0.5% . The important consideration here is most of the price bars must be contained within the upper and lower bands.
When price reaches above the upper red band, a sell position is opened. When price reaches the lower green band, buy position is opened. Trades can be managed with proper stop loss and take profit. In the picture, Firebird indicator is attached to daily chart of EUR/USD with 2% shift on MA. Note that almost all price bars are within the price bands. And when price extends beyond these bands, price trend reverses and comes back into the bands.

How to reduce eroding Forex slippages? Slippage is more likely to occur in times of higher volatility (perhaps due to market events) and it makes a market order at a specific price impossible to execute. Such times are when large orders are executed, when market orders are used and when there is not enough interest at the desired price level to keep the expected trade price.

Slippage is neither negative or positive movements, it is simply the difference between the expected purchase price and actual executed price. Since the corresponding securities are bought and sold at the most favorable price available, an order can result differently. In this situation, most forex dealers will execute the trade at the next best price.  In forex world, the market prices changes fast and the slippage happens in times of delay between the order placed and its completion.

Slippage is the difference between the expected filled price of a trade and the actual price filled. In other words, when your trade is executed at a worse price than requested, so it is “slipping” from the original order price. It happens between the time that a trader enters the trade and the time the trade is made. It can happen to everyone in any given trading market; stock, currency, or commodity.

This may be caused by an ineffective broker, increased liquidity and fast market. The forex market is very liquid and there are limited amounts of slippage.

    • Date: 23rd January 2025.   How Low Can Oil Prices Fall After Renewed Downward Pressure?   Since Donald Trump became President of the US, Crude Oil prices have fallen 3.70% retracing back from the 27-week high. Analysts still believe the price of oil per barrel will fall under the Trump presidency, as per previous statements. President Trump himself previously stated he wants oil priced closer to $45 per barrel. However, how long can oil prices fall and how quickly? What’s Driving Oil Prices Lower?     Investors are closely watching the next steps of U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration. Yesterday, Trump announced plans to impose a 10% tariff on all Chinese exports, scaling back from the 100% tariff he promised during his campaign. This news has reassured investors, but experts caution that this move could be just the beginning. Over time, the U.S. may increase pressure on its top economic rival, potentially slowing the Chinese economy and reducing its energy demand. China is currently the largest importer of Crude Oil followed by the US, India and Japan. Therefore, a poorer economic outlook for China can pressure oil prices in 2025. The performance of the Chinese economy will also depend on the 10% tariffs and if these will indeed rise over time. The US President is also attempting to create an imbalance between supply and demand in order to pressure prices lower. On the President's first day he launched significant changes to the US’s energy policy, reversing restrictions on coastal oil field development imposed by the former President. Trump also advocated for boosting oil production at existing fields and declared a national energy emergency, aiming to attract investment in the mining sector and bolster the US oil reserves. If Trump is successfully able to considerably increase supply, the price of Crude Oil is likely to come under pressure. Only if demand equally improves will supply-demand imbalances be avoided. Meanwhile, a sharp drop in oil prices is being mitigated by poor weather conditions along the Gulf Coast, which could disrupt production in key high oil-producing countries. Although, this is not likely to continue in the medium to long term. The Middle East and high-producing countries in recent years have aimed to keep oil prices between $70-$80 per barrel. Therefore, traders will also monitor if these countries will look to structure countermeasures to reduce the downward pressure. For example, by reducing production levels. How Low can Crude Oil Prices Fall? The average price of oil over the past 5 years is $70 per barrel, $5 (-5.60%) lower than the current price. However, the average price of this period takes into consideration the oil crisis from 2022 where prices rose above $100. More realistic support levels can be seen at $62 per barrel. The price has found support at this level in 2021, 2023 and 2024.     Some economists, such as Tom Kloza, suggest that Crude Oil could potentially drop to $40 per barrel. This would occur if OPEC nations decide to reverse previous production cuts. However, most economists believe it's more realistic to expect Crude oil prices to drop between $54 to $62 per barrel in the medium to long term. Other organizations, such as the US Energy Information Administration believe oil will only drop to $74 per barrel in 2025 and $66 per barrel. According to the EIA, their predictions, which are higher than most, are due to strong economic activity. In terms of indications and technical analysis, most point towards a downward trend. The price of Crude Oil is currently trading below most trendlines and the Volume-Weighted Average Price. In addition to this, Oscillators such as the RSI and MACD also indicate sellers are controlling the price movement. However, Crude Oil Traders should note this outlook may change if the price gains bullish momentum above $76.38. Key Takeaways: President Trump aims to bring Crude Oil prices back down closer to $40 per barrel. Trump is driving a supply-demand imbalance to lower prices, starting with reversing oil field restrictions. Economist Tom Kloza suggests Crude Oil could drop to $40 per barrel if OPEC reverses previous production cuts. Most economists believe oil prices will fall to between $54 to $62. The average price of Crude Oil over the past 5 years is $70 per barrel.   Always trade with strict risk management. • Date: 22nd January 2025.   Netflix Earnings Surge Driving the NASDAQ to Monthly Highs!   The NASDAQ increases in value for a fourth consecutive day, gaining momentum after Netflix stocks rise more than 15%. Earnings reports are gaining speed for the technology sector, but why has Netflix stocks seen such a high and sudden rise in demand? Netflix Stocks Increase 15% Supporting the NASDAQ! Netflix stocks have been one of the best-performing stocks within the NASDAQ, rising more than 79% in 12 months. However, even for Netflix, a 15% rise in less than 24 hours is considered substantial. The quarterly earnings report was made public by Netflix after the market closed on Tuesday. The earnings report confirmed the following: Netflix beat their earnings per share expectations - $4.27 reported vs $4.21 expectations. Netflix’s revenue surpasses the previous quarter - $10.25 billion this quarter vs $9.82 billion in the previous quarter. The online streaming company confirms projects to expand into live sport and event streaming will proceed. In addition to this, the company’s forward guidance for 2025 remains positive. Netflix is the 10th most influential company for the NASDAQ meaning the positive earnings data and bullish price movement supports the overall price of the NASDAQ. In addition to this, the positive earnings improve the sentiment towards the entire US technology sector. Investors will now turn their attention to the quarterly earnings report for Intuitive Surgical. Intuitive Surgical stocks on Tuesday rose 1.94%. How is the Economy And Politics Affecting the NASDAQ?     The US stock market is witnessing an upward correction after struggling in the last weeks of 2024. The bullish price movement is a result of a sharp decline in bond yields, the new US administration and earnings season. Investors remain relieved that bond yields have fallen back down from the 5.00% level. If bond yields continue to decline further, particularly below 4.50%, the move would be deemed as positive for the US stock market. President Trump took office on Monday and so far the pro-US rhetoric from the President, Vice President and Secretary of State continues to support the stock market. So far, the main concern is how upcoming tariffs can negatively affect inflation and growth. However, some economists advise tariffs will become the “norm” and may have a lesser effect compared to 2018. However, this is something traders will continue to evaluate and monitor. The VIX this morning fell 0.83% lower and trades more than 5.70% lower over a 7-days. The lower VIX indicates a higher risk appetite towards the stock market. If the VIX continues to decline a strong buy indication may materialize. On the most influential stocks for the NASDAQ, 82% rose in value on Tuesday. However, Apple stocks, the most impactful stock, fell 3.19% due to poor sell data. If Apple stocks continue to decline, the NASDAQ’s upward trend may come under strain. In the meantime, investors over the next week will continue to monitor upcoming earnings reports. NASDAQ - Technical Analysis The price of the index is trading significantly higher than all Moving Averages on a 2-hour timeframe and relatively high on oscillators. These factors indicate that buyers are controlling the order book. However, price action also confirms the latest impulse wave measures 3.43% which is normally the point at which the index retraces. This is something that investors may also consider. The retracement potentially also may be triggered by Netflix buyers quickly selling to cash in profit after the sudden 15% bullish surge. If a retracement does indeed form, price action and the 75-period EMA indicates that the pullback may drop as low as $21,391.30.     Key Takeaways: The NASDAQ increases in value for a fourth consecutive day, but price action signals a possible retracement before continuing its bullish trend. Netflix stocks increase more than 15% due to strong earnings data. Netflix beat earnings and revenue expectations by 1.39% and confirmed projects to add live sports streaming to its platforms. The VIX trades more than 5.70% lower over a 7-days and US Bond Yields remain at recent lows. On the most influential stocks for the NASDAQ, 82% rose in value on Tuesday.
