Applying Joe Ross Trading Methods

Recommended Posts

you must have the patience of Job. I don't think i could stand that...so many days and no trades..i made 6 today..5 winners and 1 loser..all positive traders equation...all at least 1:1 rr and one that was 10:1 rr. It is hard for me to see how mr ross's setup did not appear at all today in the type of PA we had today. Did you happen to miss some?

Patua,

One of the most difficult things about trading these setups is their lack of frequency and the required patience to wait for them. However, the success rate is quite high (I am about 80% but Joe is about 90% correct).

I reviewed the charts and it does not appear that I missed anything but if anyone is familiar with these setups, please provide some insight.

I do like your frequency. It appears that you have found a good method for trading. I am still striving to become a better and more profitable trader.

Thank you.

Hi Handle,

I did a bit of a search .

There is lots of info on Joe Ross Methods on TL, so I not going to repeat it.

When you went on your course, did you learn the AMBUSH method.?

kind regards

bobc

bobc,

I did not learn the AMBUSH method. It is not something that Joe Ross teaches in his private mentorship. Do you have any information on it?

Thank you.

Tony

well in the end what counts is if you make money and are satisfied. you seem to do first and seem to portray the second so that is good.

handle...i scalp quite often too ..like today...

4 trades in ES, 3 winners 1 loser, net.. 3.75 points per contract after comm leaves a little over $167 per contract.

6 scalps on NQ 5 winners 1 BE. Net per contract after comm 209.94

on these slow grinding days money can be made using different tactics depending on context.

are you trading all three ross patterns you learned or just one of them? looks like you are satisfied with one trade per day or did the pattern just show up once per day?

you don't get bored? are you watching the chart all day or just a few minutes at certains times of the day?

Patuca,

I am using 3 of the 5 setups that Joe Ross taught me. I may be missing some setups. If anyone has mentored with Joe Ross and can offer some suggestions, I would be very grateful.

I am learning Volume Profile from Awais and Ziad at OpenTrader but I am having difficulty reading context in the ES. Seems random and more of a game of probabilities. Most of the time it feels like I am catching falling knives or standing in front of a train. Very different than what Joe taught me.

What do you use to trade the ES? Seems like a lot of activity and decent results.

Thank you.

Tony

Hi Handle

The Traders Trick Entry

At last a genuine Joe Ross method.

regards

bobc

Hi bobc,

Yes a Trader's Trick Entry. A freebie method from Mr. Ross.

All the other trades I have posted here are also genuine Joe Ross methods...they just cost me to find out.

Thank you,

Tony

zdo,

I take rh's but with very strict parameters. The timeframe I am looking at may not have any setups which is why I will post a no trade day.

Thank you.

re: "very strict parameters"

are those "strict" rules yours or his ?

Thanks.

doesn't matter...strict rules the market does not heed...we cannot..must not...dare not...make rules for the market....we must obey the market...not the market obey us...the market is fickle and does not know our rules (except where our SL are located...so they can be gunned with confidence)...the market can change on a dime...we must change on a dime...when we are are out of flow and swimming hard against the current..

re: "very strict parameters"

zdo,

I am using the methods taught to me and use the Trader's Trick Entry (TTE) for Rh's. I have them set as strict as possible so I am taking the setups with the highest probability of winning. That also means that I miss some winners. But I also avoid more losers.

If there are any setups that you think I am missing, please post them and I will explain why I did not take them. Could be that I filtered out a good setup and didn't realize it.

Thank you.

Patuca,

It is true that the market does not heed to our rules. But I do believe that we need to heed to our rules. And if our rules are not working, then we should change them in a non-emotional state to better reflect the realities of the market.

I believe that trading without a plan, that has a set of written rules, made outside the trading emotion is critical to success.

Thank you.
