Do you know that 50 contracts controls about $3 million. A 1% move, which can easily happen in less than a couple hours given today's volatility, means a $30,000 swing in your account.Would someone please explain what this means? I'm not quite sure I understand and it seems very important...

Great! Thank you Sparrow.

You need to set a value for the bands, it won't display anything with the default values. Can someone tell me where to set the values for the bands in NinjaTrader and what to set them to? Thanks...Armand
-
Now here is the nicer version of the bandsEnjoy
I am trying to install this in NinjaTrader. So far I am extracting the zip file into the: My Documents\NinjaTrader 6\bin\Custom\Indicator folder. Then I go into the control center and click on Tool> Edit NinjaScript > Indicator. I can select and have the code open up. Then I hit an f5 to compile and have it added as an indicator.
My problem is I still can't get this to display (VMARainbow, fantail, etc.). Would someone please let me know what I'm doing wrong. Do I need to add all the indicators that are in this zip file. Some have "@ signs" and some don't. Does that matter? I know i'm close...just not quite there..
Thanks...Armand

Hope it helps
Can anyone enter the tradestation forums or do you have to be a tradestation subscriber? I don't see a way to register (but I am not a tradestation subscriber).
Thanks,

Minetoo -- PM me with details and I will look into it.Infinity_Tom
Hi Infinity_Tom,
Do you know if there is some minimum number of trades that are required to avoid an inactivity fee. If so, what number of trades would that be.
Thanks,
Armand
-
I absolutely LOVE Infinity. I usually get filled on a 50 contract ES trade in 1 second, sometimes 2 at the most. And Tom will take very good care of you!Hi Disco Scottie,
Does Infinity require some minimum number of trades before some kind of fees kick in? Also, how much is a round trip ES contract?
Thanks,
Armand

My thoughts on CHEAP services-If you are looking for a cheap solid service Infinity is great. I have never had a problem with their execution and their charting software is only $26/mo. Even during FOMC announcements I have had a flawless feed. (Futures only though)
Hi Hlm,
Thanks for your post about Infinity. I noticed that they charge a $35.00 per month charge for inactivity. Do they require some minimum level of trades before some other fees kick in? Or is it $26 per month plus commissions only?
Thanks,
Armand

I thought I would share a video today of some posible divergence trades with BOP... notice timing when getting inside the rainbow works like a charm... I will take some rest this days... be back next week... cheers Walter. Thanks Walter...another great video. This counter trend trade using BOP on ES looks very promising. Which version of the rainbow on MT4 did you use? I would like to track some ES trades using these indicators...10 ticks a day seems very doable. Enjoy your well deserved time off...Armand

And here some videos recaping some of todays trades... hope it brings more light... cheers Walter.Walter, awesome, awesome videos. The more charts and videos the clearer things get. Thanks for all the time you put into sharing this with us. Armand

I attach video of this trades... they actually are False Break M`s with a nice view of the BOP divergence for some more confidence... as all counter trend trades, if momentum is there you will get stopped... so on very strong momentum conditions this trades should be avoided... cheers Walter.
Thanks Walter..that video really cleared up the BOP...great job! I want to add this indicator. Does the BOP only need the setting of 14? Thanks...Armand
-
And a video here... must confess, very confortable chart... cheers Walter.Thank you, Walter...once again the video is very helpful...Armand

One thing I had been looking today is how you can time entries and exits with the green/black lines of our nice clean chart...on some situations it will call fore some tight stops, but look how nice large exit keeped you inside all the way down...
so, cant be more simple uhu ?? cheers Walter.
Walter...are you looking for the cross of the green and black lines right after they pass above or below the magenta? Or is it after any vmar icon? Or both?
thanks...Armand
-
Thats good Jim, keep that up ¡¡ here you have an explanation on how to upload charts http://www.traderslaboratory.com/forums/f30/how-to-post-a-chart-properly-805.html will love to see yours on ES...I attach a video about coil breaks followed by icon-flip formations... cheers Walter.
Great videos Walter...very helpful. Thanks...Armand

Armand,1. Place the .xml (template) here: My Documents/Ninjatrader6/templates/chart
2. Open NT. Go to File>Utilities>Import NinjaScript
and import the 3 .zip files (MAS3, VMABand, VMARainbow). Don't unzip them.
Then when you load the template, all the settings Walter set will be there.
Cheers,
Bert
Thank you, Bert. I'll give that a try.

And here I atach the indis and template for NT...(so far)... cheers Walter.I'm having a slight problem. I've loaded the Chimp futures scalps template in My Documents/Ninjatrader6/templates/chart. And all the indicators are in My Documents/Ninjatrader6/templates/Indicator. The template loads...I see the oscillator and price (I'm in simulation mode) but no indicators. No MAS3, VMABand, or VMARainbow. When I right click on the chart and click on indicators none of these VMA indicators are listed there. I guess I've put them in the wrong place...just not sure where that is suppose to be. Any suggestions? Thx...Armand

I bet I am not the only one interested for index futures scalping;
Please do open a new thread on this topic.
Your hull(9) and sma(hull,9),4) is excellent.:thumbs up::thumbs up::thumbs up:
I wonder what else is brewing...
cheers.
Unicorn
I would like to see this for index futures scalping too (only because I'm already set up for that...haven't worked with forex). But I'm ready to try either one. Its been great watching this research unfold....thx to all...Armand

Just to show how the rainbows could look like here's my suggestionWish all a nice weekend as well, good team work guys
Very nice way to display the rainbow!

what a team we got here ¡¡ now we also have Sparrow who started to program our indis for Ninjatrader platform ¡¡ The chimp is so happy that he is dancing ¡¡
cheers The Chimp.
Just an FYI...the Ninjatrader platform has a great dom (The same one I use with TransActFutures). It lets you place bracket orders, target and stops all with one click. You can also drag and drop your targets and stops. Great control. Thanks Sparrow....Armand
-
ok Unicorn I really aprecciate that ¡¡ I will ask Bruce if he can code this version as you did for mt4...Also Sparrow, you may want to check on Unicorn`s code...
Thanks a lot ¡¡ cheers Walter.
Thanks Walter...great videos. I look forward to testing these out in MT4. Thanks Unicorn for providing the charts...Armand

SundownerI'm the sort of bone head that always has to make sense of things in my own dumn way and probably the hard way.
Yeah shouldn't have complicated things by adding 1hr charts.
Yeah adding some more lines can help make sense of things.
On 1min chart maybe also try adding adxvma6_12bar, but set it to 10 bars and maybe line thickness=2 so you can see it easier. Might give another view of where some HEs are.
Whatever helps...
PYenner...now keep in mind I can barely get my indicators loaded. But looking at your second pix with second copy of 6_16 running in red on 1hr chart, set to 16 bars. Red line crosses under Blue line - Short. Red line crosses over Blue line - Long. Would have made for a very nice day!
But for now...I'm still studying the 5 minute settingups.
Thanks for all your contribution...Armand
-
so for the EUR/Jpy traders... I probably will be one... I add Indis and template for the 1 min timing chart... cheers Walter.
I hadn't switched over from the fantail on MT4 because I thought I would wait to see where the research takes us. So after these posts I thought it would be a good time to install the new indicator and template (ADXVMA6Test3.mq4 & chimp 1 min chart for eur-jpy.tpl). I followed the instructions from other posts on how to install them...but for some reason my charts show up very different...wrong colors, no oscillator, missing vma line on the one minute chart, etc. I know I've put the template and indicator in the right place because they show up under insert > indicators and charts > templates. But something is getting messed up somewhere. "If" someone has the patience and time to explain what I am doing wrong...I would greatly appreciate it...Thanks Armand
-
Armand... the oscillator has a very periferical function on the entire equation... I will do a video just about that sometime today... cheers Walter. Thanks Walter!
-
ArmandThe oscillator is quite wild and tends to get me in trouble when the blue line is flat, the thing that moves the most seems to get my attention.
For my own sanity I now tend to wait for the blue line to trend before I get excited.
I think the short fast movements during consolidation get ahead of 5min indicators and they become contradictory. Concepts like overbought or lazy are some use with the oscillator but it helps if there is trend which tends to give longer (time) cycles which suit 5min indicators better, then they are more in step with the action.
Unfortunately we seem to have had a lot of flat blue line recently which has not helped at all.
Regards Bruce.
Thanks PYenner...very helpful!
Trading ES Futures and Taxes...
in Futures
Posted
I'm wondering if anyone trading ES futures does their own taxes. This is the first year that I have traded live and was wondering about taxes. I have not ruled out going to a tax professional, however, before I do I would like to see what others have done. I think I understand 1256 contracts and the 60/40 rule, but I am not sure if things like mark to market and wash sales, etc. apply. I never hold a position over night. The rest of my taxes are not complicated...I'm just not sure how to handle the future trading part...Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Armand.
