Mini Options really haven't taken off the way they had hoped, the Premiums are just too small and commissions usually eat up a lot of the trade...

Leverage is based on the Option you trade, not the underlying. An out of the money Option offers more leverage (however with a lower probability of profit). An in the money option offers less leverage (with a higher probability of profit)
