300M AUM is the breakeven. citi prime put out a paper. gone are the days of 2 and 20.

What city are you in? Opening your own fund these days has a lot of barriers. I've helped launch a couple and would advise against going alone. One of the platforms (ie blackrock , guggenheim) might be a better approach for now and you can always launch one when you've ramped up.
