  1. There was some resistance and and the 1250VBC printed a doji.
  2. I'm not sure if I will go with OEC for real trading. My computer locked up twice so far using their demo, and it seems they are a relatively new company with not many clients and I may want to go with a time tested company for real trading. But for paper trading it looks like a good platform if it does not lock up too much. $24.95 is around what I pay for Interactive Brokers and Sierra Chart. I could cancel IB and Sierra to cover that cost. But the thing I like about IB, please correct me if I'm wrong, is that they have relatively low margin interest rate. I was not able to find another broker with such low rates for small money accounts. Although I plan to day trade, I would like to one day also do swing trading and long term trading. It seems that Interactive Brokers is a good broker for that.
  3. Hello. World markets are mixed. Dow is currently a bit down in premarket. Good trading.
  4. The person I emailed said: "After the trial expires the demo software is $24.95 a month if you have a real money account or not."
  5. My trading summary for today: 8 setups. 11 roundtrips. -15 net points. Realized paper loss of $121.86.
  6. Even if you're a real money account customer they charge $24.95 for the demo?
  7. Trade 8: Contract 1: -11. Contract 2: -11.
  8. Trade 7: 2 contracts. Contract 1: +7. Contract 2: 0.
  9. The charting has many positives. It is better than Sierra IMO. I like how they mark each candle where you entered and exit a trade with an arrow. That gives me a general picture of my activity when I look at the chart and it makes it very easy to find my trades when I'm annotating it on SnagIt. But the pivots do not seem to agree with the pivots from http://www.tradesignals.com/pivots/. The chart trading is excellent. Now I can easily enter a trade and place a stop order, and easily adjust the stop from the chart. That is much better than how I traded before. I tried DOM for the first time but was having trouble adjusting to it. I would like to find a method to enter a trade with 2 contracts, and then scale out one contract after 10 points. That is done from the DOM I think but I need some time to learn it. The software seems good. I'm still adjusting to it. My first impression about OEC is that they have good technology, and they designed a very good trading platform, considering that there are no platform fees. And unlike Tradestation, OEC offers paper trading.
  10. Good time to be trailing. What was your trail limit?
  11. It was at 9:03CT. It looked good on the long term chart and 1250 VBC when I entered, but afterwards I looked at the 1 minute chart it was not very good. My thinking was: I was looking at the 1250VBC and the 5min. The market took a big dive earlier. So that was a bearish sign. So I was looking to buy after the pullback after confirmation. I received my confirmation from Sierra Chart 1250VBC which is running on my other computer. If I remember correctly there were 2 red candles so I saw that as the end of the pullback. Trying out a new platform I was not able to get a stop order in time. Then the market went up, more than I expected, and then I exited with a market order when it came closer to my entry.
  12. Trade 1: -8. Looked like a lower high after a lower low.
  13. Hello. Hope you all had a good weekend. Major markets around the world are up. Good trading.
  14. Thanks Nvesta. I looked at IB's bracket order a while ago and was not able to get it to work properly. Currently I setup an order row and right click on it and select auto stop, then type in the stop amount, and then execute the order, which is usually a market order. I feel the process takes too long and sometimes I'm not able to get in when I want. But I should adjust the default stop level to the standard 10 points that I usually use to help speed up the process. I'm interested in bracket order if it allows partial fills. For example, if I want to trade 2 contracts, can I set a bracket order to sell one contract at +10 and keep the other contract indefinitely?
  15. Hey Brownsfan. I use Sierra Chart for now. It was a step up from the Interactive Brokers charting. I'm not very impressed with Sierra Chart. I have one chartbook with 4 charts in it. As far as I know it doesn't allow me to view the charts in different windows. I'm forced to view all the charts from the same window and to flip through them I have to press F4 to go back a chart and F9 to go forward a chart. I'm also not impressed with their contract symbol entry system. For example, with Interactive Brokers to get a quote of YM all I have to do is type YM and it gives me several choices, one of them is Futures, and when I chose that it has choices of contracts. With Sierra Chart it is not automatic like that. When I first started Sierra Chart it was a bit of a hassle to figure out their contract symbol system. And I don't think Sierra Chart offers chart trading. For example, it doesn't allow me to quickly adjust stops by moving a stop line on the chart. There is an order entry window, but I'm looking for a platform that allows me to trade directly from the chart and quickly adjust stops by simply moving a stop line on a chart rather then manually type in the number. Also, on my Sierra Chart I was not able to place vertical grid lines. It is in the menu as an option but when I click on it it doesn not work. The horizontal grid lines work.
  16. Thanks Tin. Higher highs and higher lows is one of my trading setups.
  17. I'm learning patience, discipline, and money management.
