  1. I guess the reason I find it intimidating is because I know there are much better traders I'm up against. But it is easier for me to trade, and I'm doing much better because my setups are occurring more often.
  2. ES seems much more scalper friendly, price movement is a lot faster obviously. I'm still a bit intimidated, but I'm doing pretty well. How is everyone else doing?
  3. I'm going to paper trade the ES the rest of the day. My system has been working very well for the YM and I want to try the ES, I'll see how my system does and how price action differs and is similar on both.
  4. Brownsfan, I couldn't seem to edit the image and delete the circles so here is just a current screenshot and I pointed out where my trade was (but didn't block any candles). Thanks.
  5. Brownsfan maybe you can help me with this trade. I went short at the breakout on the pivot for +17. Not a bad trade at all but looking back I think I see a doji just before hand, would that have been an indicator to get on the move earlier? What about the candle just before it? I also see that hammer at the top of the chart, was that a bearish signal as well? As you can see I circled it in green, thanks!
  6. I've noticed I do this just before I get a break in my life. For example back in February I felt like this just before I started using real money, now I'm about to get my series 7. It's almost as if I hit the brakes before making the move. I'm not afraid to trade when I wake up in the morning, I'm just too tired to move. I did the same thing my last year of high school maybe it is depression I don't know. Going on a year long trip sounds like a great idea, but I don't have the kind of money to do that lol My parents wouldn't approve of it either, they view it as if I'm not in school then I should be doing something productive with my life. I'm not very passionate about my job at Nordstrom, I like the people I work with but I have no motivation going in every morning. I'd much rather be at home trading, but I don't seem to do much of that either. I'm either a very hard, dedicated worker that doesn't stop or I just sit around and watch the world go by. There doesn't seem to be a happy medium, and it all goes in phases. I'm going to Texas Saturday to visit my sister for a week. I really think that will help get my mind off of everything. A lot of it simply comes down to self discipline. I need it to go to bed at night, not 3 am like I usually do. I need it to push myself out of bed and not think about how comfortable my bed is. I need it to want to be successful, I have to remind myself that great things don't come easy. A trading life won't be handed to me, I have to work for it. Tonight I get home at 10, and I will make sure I'm in bed by 11 so I can get up at 5:30 tomorrow and write my trading plan. If I write the plan tonight then I will get distracted like usual and I won't go to bed until 3. If I don't follow through with this plan I am only hurting myself, so I have to ask myself how serious I really am about everything.
  7. I found an old blog that I wrote back in February when I still worked at Best Buy. For some reason it really kicked me in the butt to get going and I started working really hard with my trading. Now here I am, in the same position. Everything seems to be slowing down, everything will get down tomorrow, and I never seem to act. I sleep in all the time, get work done late, and I have little motivation. Yet reading the quotes I found in my blog I find myself wondering why I'm not doing anything. I can't be successful without doing anything. I have a ton of respect for those of you who get on every morning and trade, I need to find a way where I can discipline myself to do the same. These is the last part of my blog, tell me what you all think about it.
  8. You know, Cramer has been around for a long time and he knows a lot of big people and he knows who moves the big money. Jim Cramer doesn't own any stocks for himself, only his charitable trust. The fact that he blows up like that makes me wonder how right he may be. Sure he is emotional, but he has a lot of inside connections that none of us have. He probably lost money, but the amount of money he manages in his charitable trust doesn't even compare to his hedge fund. But whatever, if you don't like him and want to look down on him that's fine. But I have to agree with him that there is a huge problem on the horizon.
  9. Yes, the loan is in my name, the title is in my name, and the insurance is all in my name.
  10. 2004 C230 I almost got a 2004 C320 4matic, but it didn't handle nearly as well as the 230. The 230 is RWD and it's lighter, so that was the one for me. It only had 24k miles when I got it 3 months ago, now it has about 29 lol
  11. I read a quote on ET that said - "If you don't understand the global economy you don't understand the economy" The way everything is going I think this is very true, we can't pay attention to only the US anymore. So I think a forum dedicated to stuff like that would be extremely beneficial, especially in the coming years. Also, if you can find strong correlations that no one else sees that could give you a huge edge. In the book Pit Bull Marty talks about the correlation he found between I believe T-Bills and the ES, and he made a killing on it.
  12. My friend from Texas is in town and we have been hitting a lot of mountain passes in our cars. Yesterday we decided to tackle Pikes Peak, plus it's a cool place to go. Well, I was running late leaving my house and he got lost trying to find the mall where we were planning on meeting up. By the time we got to Colorado Springs the clouds were rolling in and I knew it would probably rain, but I had no idea what I was going to drive into. Heading up highway 24 to Pikes Peak highway was a blast, it's a very tight road and if you know how to "see the line" then you can go very fast. Of course, growing up around here I know how to drive these roads very well so my friend had to put forth some effort trying to keep up. We got to Pikes Peak highway and hauled ass on the paved part, the occasional tourist was smart enough to pull over and let us pass except for one jerk from Kansas. He just got in our way and did 10-15, we had been doing 50-70 Once we got to the dirt part we slowed way down (obviously) and enjoyed the scenery. About halfway up (it turns to pavement for the tight hairpins then goes to dirt again) we drove through one of the clouds. We had very little visibility but it wasn't scary, just low visibility. We stopped a few times for photo ops and kept driving up to the top where we ate lunch and looked at the cool clouds we had just drove through. On the way down was when it got really scary, it started raining hard and I thought no big deal. We got to the hairpins and it started hailing really hard. My car does not do well on ice at all, somehow my friends Corvette was fine but my Mercedes definitely was not. It was basically a "controlled" slide the whole way down for me. Nothing like the road covered in ice, tight hairpins with sheer drop-offs that lead to death, and my car having no traction. Of all the driving I do that was by the far the scariest one ever. I love to drive, if there was one thing I could do besides trading it would be to drive on a well designed road course. Anyways, here are some pics. The shots of the hail is right after the bad part (I couldn't stop before and get out since it was hailing way too hard). Just imagine all that hail, except you couldn't see any road whatsoever and thats what we had just gone through. It was fun though, and I can't wait to go back up.
  13. How would timing an entry on a gravestone doji differ from say a shooting star? Thanks for the thread brownsfan, I appreciate all the info.
  14. Looks very interesting, do you have a link to the book about LTCM? I would love to read a book about that.
  15. Nice video, shows that you should always stick to your system and never get greedy. At least you saw the mistake and learned from it, good job!
  16. This is probably going to be a dumb post, but I am new to candlestick analysis so bear with me. Basically in this "tin's bearish candle" price action first went up, then there was an absence of buyers and the sellers were able to take over and push price lower. Hence why you'd go short the next candle, because obviously buyers were non-existent and sellers were plentiful? Now if it was a doji, how would you interpret it on this chart?
  17. Today my friend and I drove up to Rocky Mountain National park. Drove up a long mountain pass in his Corvette Z06. I'm not going to lie, getting up there and breathing the cool mountain air and seeing the beautiful scenery made me forget about all my troubles. Not to mention driving that car was a blast, and I'm not a big fan of domestics. My family is seriously considering building a cabin up in the mountains with some land. But the catch would be no tv, internet, etc. My mom has a very stressful job so it would be nice for her, and be a reward to head up there after a week of trading. I think that would be an awesome way to manage some of the stress.
  18. Alright, TRIN finished above 3 so there should be a nice bounce come Monday morning. Hope you all did okay today!
  19. Abe on that trade, you should have waited for the breakout on the short side then gone short. I've found that works extremely well. You see those 4 candles all making lows at the same point, you could have setup a short once that was broken and you would have had a 30pt gain instead of a 3 pt loss. Just an idea.
  20. Damnit WHY did I let that trade go with a 30pt gain? Right now I would be looking at a 100+ pt gain.... Oh well.
  21. I'm seeing strong resistance at the 8 EMA, which is what I play off of. For some reason when I plug in the 200sma on the daily chart it comes up around 12800 lol Am I doing something wrong?
  22. Alright guys I gotta head out, a friend is in town with his Corvette Z06 and we are about to head up into the mountains
  23. Alright, I'm finally proud of myself for catching a long term play. I finally got my e-signal up and running again and I set up the charts a little bit differently. I now have a small 15 minute (sorry the chart says 5 I wasn't paying attention). I noticed a wedge on the chart and took a scalp at the breakout and another position to hold slightly longer incase the breakout proved effective. o Entry – 13455 o Exit scalp – 13445 o P&L – 10 YM o Exit 2nd contract – 13425 o P&L – 30 YM I got out because of the -1000 tick. I should have turned around and gone long and caught another easy 10 pts but I didn't. Now looking at the chart, I should have held on till the close of the 15 min candle - it would have been a much more profitable trade. Oh well, I made the trade and it worked.
  24. Are you also having this problem?? All my time intervals are gone. I logged off the other day and saved everything as usual, then tonight all my time intervals are gone. As you can imagine, this is EXTREMELY annoying. I tried e-mailing eSignal and their site was down (kept getting a 404 page not found error). I tried doing the live rep support and that froze up. I know I can make my own intervals... but it's just not the same. This is going to drive me nuts!
  25. I know I am making a sin today, I am taking several trades without first figuring out my stops and targets. I am just seeing setup after setup unfold and taking them then relying on the tape/candle movement to determine my entries and exits. Some are 6pt trades and others are 20+ trades.
