Last time I went skiiing was several years ago and I sprained my neck lol But I was very good at it. I suck at boarding, but I haven't gone up to the mountains in 2 or more years.

I had to pay $1 to view an S&P 500 chart :hmmmm:

I really want to learn more of an art form than anything, but be able to use it as self defense if needed. Does that make better sense? I don't like looking for fights, I hate being in that situation. But for example, if I was I'd like to know I stand a chance of defending myself if needed. But I'd rather learn the art form than anything.

Yeah, I saw it and I know I should have taken it. But I knew the risk of taking the trade was more than I could allow for the account. If the Fed had not cut rates the market would have fallen just as much, just as fast. I just can't deal with that kind risk/reward in such a small timeframe. Had the account been bigger, then absolutely.

I don't know why that makes me laugh so hard :rofl: I was watching the tape at all the little guys making the bullish engulfing pattern. Normally I would have taken the trade, but seeing as the Fed was about to make it's decision and I didn't see any bigger tape action I stepped aside. Now I'm pissed I did :o

So far going into tomorrows FOMC meeting I still see a ton of disagreement between the bulls and the bears. On the ES and NQ we had a doji Friday followed by some confirmation today. But I'm really not sure if I'm missing something, maybe Brownsfan or someone else can point out something I may be missing? The weekly charts look noisy too.

Hey guys, I thought after a good discussion in the physical conditioning thread this might be cool too. I have been wanting to learn a form of martial arts for some time but never really did anything. Last night I got the inspiration to try Judo, looked at some vidoes and watched a show on the History channel and it looked fun, yet something that would be physically demanding as well. Today I talked with my manager who has taken several forms of martial arts and he told me to take Jujitsu instead mainly because it is better for self defense. I'd be willing to try that. Do any of you guys practice any of that or had any experiences?

Oh okay, thanks. TS should really make that feature

Again, not a whole lot of action going on. We are trading in a range and theres a lot of action around the mean. Looks like there could be a spinning top on the YM. So what does that tell us? We might see the market drop a few hundred points then pop back up. Should see some confirmation this week as to where the market will head- I hope :crap: Again though, if you can trade another commodity market right now then I would and wait for a better setup to occur here. I just don't see a lot happening for swing trades.

I used to watch John Carters videos and he was able to use a "pen" to freely draw things on his charts. I don't have that tool, how do I get it? I thought about asking TS, but I figured some of you would know and could get back to me before TS customer service does.

This could be a great thread for traders. Personally I get 4-6 hours of sleep a night and it's been that way for 6 or 7 years. When I get 8 or more hours I wake up with a headache and I feel bad all day. Walter, this may be of interest to you. http://www.sfn.org/index.cfm?pagename=brainBriefings_sleep_deficits

How important is physical conditioning to you?

Thanks, I played soccer for too long and never learned how to play at 50%. I've always been extremely competitive, so when I play I go 100% regardless. I guess I should lift more weights along with training myself to be more fit if I plan on doing this regularly (which I do). -
I like the dog, he's pretty cool and it's nice to have a calm one around. He would have been sent to the pound to be put to sleep, so I'm thankful my mom picked him up when she did.

I played a hard game of basketball today, and I haven't played a team sport in at least 2 years. Now my leg - mostly my kneecap - is absolutely killing me. I put some ice on it, and now it just feels swollen and it hurts to put any pressure on it. Any idea what I did? And how to fix it? If it helps, I have extra long ligaments so I used to get a lot of shin splints. Not sure if that would play into my leg though. -
So at the old age of 19 (20 next month) I'm still living at home. For some reason I thought buying myself a Mercedes-Benz was cooler than my own apartment. Well a few months ago my mom came home with a dog, totally random. No big deal, I like dogs and my old dog died back in January (She was 17, I had her since I was 5). Moving forward to 4 weeks ago, ANOTHER dog shows up and again my mom just runs out and buys the dog without consulting anyone. After being slightly irritated I got over it and now I like the dog. Today comes around, and I got home rather early since I decided not to go to the CU vs FSU game in Boulder. I played a hard game of Basketball at the CU recreation center then drove home and immediately flopped on the couch, turned on the 65" tv and waited patiently for the Nebraska vs USC game. Right about the end of the 1st quarter I heard the garage door open, but it took a while for everyone to come inside - I really didn't think anything of it. I heard the door open and turned around to say hi, only to see this white dog come into the house. I was a little shocked, and thought maybe they found him on the street and took him home while they found the owner. I was wrong, she went out again and bought a 3rd dog. Now there are 4 animals in my house, and it's getting slightly annoying. I like dogs, but I don't want three of them. She might as well go out and start up a kennel if she's so obsessed with puppies. I like the dog a lot though, he's smart and doesn't take shit from the jackass dog we have. He reminds me a lot of my first dog, not very into playing around but will always hold his own.

What if I ate breakfast? Or would it just be better to run at night? -
CL closed above resistance again and you can see it pretty clearly on the weekly chart. I'd still wait for a small pullback before jumping in.

I want to get back into running. My goal is to wake up around 5:30 am and run a little bit, get home and shower then start trading. Of course I'm used to going to bed at 5:30 am rather than waking up then.. but we'll see. Does anyone recommend any type of shoes for this? I know I sell shoes, but they are high heels -
Yeah I got the e-mail, sorry I haven't responded yet I was actually planning on doing that tonight lol Now for all of those candles you pointed out, where would you have entered the trade? The close, the close of the confirmation? I can see an engulfing candle can cause a lot of emotion if you're not in the trade, meaning you'd want to jump in just to have it retrace and turn it into a hammer. But then theres the engulfing candles that immediately retrace the next candle. I guess that's just the risk you take?

The other side to todays action could be all of the shorts needing to cover - then possibly go short again. I think that would be an assumption from the CFTC report dogpile posted. But again, I'm not sure.
-
Looking at the dow I still see resistance at the 50 SMA. I would be cautious of going long now even after todays candle just because of the last 3 times we closed around the 50 SMA the next day produced large down days. I guess I'm just not experienced enough to trade this kind of market just yet. I really think seeing a weekly close will clear up a lot of things.

I guess I should have better explained the range bound stuff that screws me up. For example here we are stuck between 2-3 ES points. Granted there is money to be made and I should have shortened my time frame to see better setups. I just find I get chopped up in these situations. But I definitely argue that in a trend day and you go the wrong way you're out.
-
It's this sort of action (range bound choppiness) that occurs during the day and causes my biggest losses. So I definitely wouldn't trade it on a daily chart.

I fully intend on buying a BMW M car either the M3 or M5. When I buy it, I will get the European delivery and pick it up in Germany.

I really wish there was something I could add here, but there really isn't. The YM, and ES just aren't in a swing trading position right now. But I think if we watch closely and keep up with our analysis we will be in good shape when the breakout occurs.
