  1. Walter, are you in your 40s? Your sweater looks like something my Nanna would have bought me back in Elementry school and you have an old Nokia phone. I'm giving you a hard time. p.s - Those Nokia phones were GREAT! I had one and beat the crap out of it so many times it was ridiculous. The buttons ended up falling out so I had to trade it in - best phone I ever owned.
  2. Wow I feel old. In the last year I've tripled the size of my paychecks, I trade real money, and I found e-mini futures. My biggest accomplishment, I'm now single and don't have to deal with her anymore :o I still as if I haven't accomplished anything, and I still feel stuck. But I guess I should keep reminding myself of what I have accomplished? I haven't traded in 3 weeks due to my personal life basically collapsing. But now I am back, and I will start off paper trading to get back into the feel of things. I know Brownsfan doesn't like that idea, but being gone for 3 weeks is a long time and I haven't really looked at any charts or anything thats market related so I have no idea what's going on. I want to post my swing trades, and I would like to do so on a blog. Does anyone recommend anyplace where I can do this for free?
  3. Beyond Greed and Fear can't reccomend that book enough. I just started and it's primarily focused on traders, institutional managers (of all types) and investors. Basically the book goes over behavioral finance and all that psychological stuff we deal with everyday - and how the whole crowd deals with it as well. It's a far cry from an easy read, I consider myself a smart person and I plan on reading this book more than once to get the whole grasp but it is very intriguing.
  4. Looks nice a trade, good luck. Are you going to exit the whole trade when it hits the target, or will you scale out then exit on a bearish candle?
  5. I already sent James a PM asking him to delete it. I'm not worried about him finding it, or anything happening. I just don't really want to be reminded of it every time I log on to the forums.
  6. He can't open his eye and I left the hospital first. So me! :o My arm hurts now because I got a tetanus shot :crap:
  7. It was domestic violence incident, and he was holding onto my collar. I told him to let go and he wouldn't he would just pull harder. So I somehow got a huge rush of adrenaline and threw him into the wall and pinned him. That's when he hit me in the side of the face, after that I just started punching hard. Last I saw him the entire left side of his face was swollen and he couldn't open his eye. It's really sad though, because I respect that guy a lot and he's done more for me than anyone. But people change when they're drunk.
  8. I'm lucky none of the glass went into my eye. I started swing trading futures tonight too. Being the good money manager I am I made sure to close out all my positions before I went to the hospital. I almost passed out doing it too lol I came home and my gains would have been even better, so I was kind of pissed. But at least I made money!
  9. This is the first fight I ever got in. Right now I'm pretty shaken up, and I just got home from the hospital. I won't go into details of how it started and who it was with because I'd like to keep that private. But he hit me in the side of the face with a glass full of wine. I just somehow got in a position where he couldn't move and started punching him as hard as I could. I went to the hospital for stitches and his face is pretty swollen. I feel like shit now, my face hurts and my eye is blurry. The guy was a great guy too, oh well.
  10. Tomorrow we have Consumer Confidence and Existing Home Sales data coming out at 10 am ET. As far as the charts go, I think the time to go short may be now. We have an inverted hammer on the YM and consolidation around resistance which is bearish to me. I still think we can get at least a 50% retracement of the big real body created when the Feds cut rates. Same goes with the ES. But There is a doji with highs at resistance, we are also seeing lower lows, which is bearish too.
  11. I wish I was home right now to post charts. But it looks like a H&S pattern could be forming on the YM. I would definitely wait until next week though before trying to go short in this market.
  12. I know a lot about the market, how it works, setups, etc. But, I am still not the trader I want to be and I know how close I am. What is holding me back? It's quite simple... I don't spend enough time in front of my monitors trading everyday. I know once I start trading more and involving myself more and more, then I will move to the next step. It sucks when you know you're that close, but so far away.
  13. I did another workout last night, and slept another 8 hours. It felt good, because I felt more refreshed all day. What time should I be working out? Morning, mid day, night? I'm going on a hike tomorrow, so I won't workout after that since I'll be too tired.
  14. On the daily we had an evening start to take note of the other day. Today it looks like a possible hammer position. Switching over to the weekly we may have a spinning top forming. But I want to wait until the end of Friday before making any sort of decisions based off the weekly chart. I view crude as more of a position trade, so I have been debating if I should pay attention the daily anymore or if I should just focus on the monthly/weekly chart.
  15. Alright we have a great DJIA candlestick thread and the CL thread is starting to take off and they are both proving to be very good educational tools. Unfortunately there is more to trading than the YM, ES, NQ, etc. During the current economic situation I think it is very important to take a look at the whole picture including the USD, Euro, GDP, AUD, etc. After the latest interest rate drops by the Fed the dollar took a huge hit. We are hitting lows that we haven't tested in over 11 years and things IMO are going to get much worse. Today I am not including a daily or weekly chart of the USD but a monthly chart. Reason being, I think it's more potent right now. From the swing high/low from roughly 1996 to 2001/2002 our next stop would place the $DXY at 62.. quite the drop from where we are now. The Euro on the other hand looks strong on a weekly chart. If you are in a long position I see no reason to exit the trade now. We are hitting psychological resistance but I don't believe that will hold for much longer. P.S - I apologize for the bright Fib colors on the white background, I just did this analysis quickly so I could print it and didn't think about it at the time.
  16. I did a small 35 minute cardiovascular workout last night (mostly running then lifted some small weights). I haven't done anything like that in a while, it felt great but when I hit the pillows I was out and actually slept 8 hours. I think I will have to do this more often.
  17. Everything still looks bullish short term. I would be slightly concerned about a possible spinning top on the YM but I wouldn't exit our trade yet. I would on the other hand move up my stop and go running around the neighborhood naked with our near 700+ pt trade. (why the hell am I day trading if we could do this??) We hit some resistance today, but I think that's perfectly normal and I wouldn't be too surprised to see some profit taking the next two days. I will just have to wait and see what candles are produced and what the weekly chart ends up looking like. Brownsfan, if what I'm seeing on the ES isn't a possible inverted hammer, then let me know what it's called :o
  18. Here are some pictures I took this afternoon. I will post more tonight after I get photoshop elements. It was a terrible time to take pictures so everything came out really bright, so I had to adjust some things to make them come out dark then correct them in photoshop. But here are some that came out okay. This is Buddy - he's the oldest and the biggest jackass The only thing on his mind is play time. If he's not playing then he's trying to get you to play with him. He's favorite game is run away from everyone when it's bed time. Oh, and piss off the cat. And this is Buddy as a puppy. As you can see, his attitude is still the same. We have two others, Dakota (the new one) who's an American Eskimo. Same size as Buddy, but younger. He's the most mature and it takes a lot for Buddy to get him to play. Then we have the little guy, Mikey. I forget what kind he is, but he's only 7lbs and he thinks he's 70lbs. Wherever theres action, he's there and getting in someones face. When Dakota and Buddy play little Mikey will wait, then charge at both of them. I will post their pictures tonight.
  19. Vercingetorix, how did you use VSA to come to the conclusion this whole thing looks bullish? I really don't know a lot about VSA so maybe I should go look into it.
  20. Well I am a small guy, but from everything I've seen MMA seems rather... rough. lol
  21. Well unfortunately we lost a member, that's too bad but I would like to keep this thread going. On the weekly chart gold is still going higher and still showing plenty of strength. We had a great opportunity to go long a few weeks ago and show no reason to exit the trade yet. I still have my target of $86 - but I do expect a dip or two before it gets there.
  22. Hey guys, heres my version of the current YM situation We did have a long signal to buy a few days ago that has yielded great results if you took the trade :crap: One thing I would like to bring to mind is our close at resistance. I am looking for a close above this level so I can bring a bullish attitude into next week. Overall I believe the market will continue to head lower, but I will go with the flow and do what the chart tells me to do. Brownsfan I have a few questions for you. The Euro, USD, and YM all posted similar patterns before today. I have seen these patterns in books before but I forget their name and what they resemble and the psychology behind it. I will post the USD and Euro charts in here as well as start a new currency thread since I think that will be very important factor heading into the end of the year.
  23. I am way too familiar with skiing, so I always try to go down with my body facing the base of the mountain. I like snowboarding though because when you fall you can fall on your ass  But anyways, back to martial arts. It's easy to find Judo classes up here, not so much Jujitsu classes. I guess I should just open up the phone book.
