Fundamentals and seasonal tendencies might be of some help too. I can't really recommend any books since my focus is very short term so I have little use for such methods. Think Jack Schwager covers some of it but his book is already pretty old, might still be worthwhile though.

I checked my account statement today and to my surprise I found out that I had a trade on. So I thought wtf is going on here and tried to find out what is happeninig. Looks like I forgot to cancel a stop and was filled one day ago! Luck was on my side this time, closed the position at +100 pips . I'm trading very small right now so it wouldn't have threatened my account even if the trade was without a stop, but would have beaten myself up about it, which is the right thing to do.

Hi James, thanks for the info, I was not thinking of using this pattern as a setup rather as an early signal for the market slowing down or reversing combined with price action and s/r. It's by far less work than constantly looking at the level II screen which gives me a headache and takes a lot of attention. However I haven't studied it over a longer period of time. Cheers

I watched Excellent Cadavers which is a documentary about Italy's war against the mafia over the decades. It's very interesting and shows the connections between the mob and politics. Recommend it if you like that kind of movies.

Hi, I've been wondering if interpreting bid/ask spread can be used in short term trading. I think that market makers drop the bid or increase the ask if they want to bring their books back into balance. This can completely halt a move or at least decrease momentum until the locals have unloaded some of their excess inventory. If the market will continue in the same direction afterwards depends on how determined buyers/sellers are. Is someone else using this in their trading or is there an error in my theory? Cheers

Same as you mister ed for the same reasons. I shut down the browser as often as I can because of the memory usage.

They reverted to zip for now so I'd just drop it and I can let you know if there are any new developments.
-
As far as I can tell they dropped the ntns extension and it was nothing but a renamed zip file anyway. NinjaTraderSmall.zip

I've only seen one guy on ET knocking off his own charting/trading software so far. While NT is solid it lacks the features I'd really like to have multi timeframe/instrument indicators/charts. NeoTicker has all those things. One thing I also hate is that if you pull up the indicators menu all the indicators which depend on live ticks will reset. Apart form these short comings I love NT, it is more flexible programming wise than any other platform I know. Which might make it very difficult to develop indicators for non programmers. Degrees mean nothing in geek world .

Enhancing Trader Performance by Brett N. Steenbarger
Sparrow replied to darthtrader's topic in Books
I agree, this book is outstanding and a lot better than most other trading books. Definitely worth your money and time! -
1) depends on what you put into your computer 2) depends on the efficiency of your PSU I've got a Seasonic, quiet and efficient and I think also not too expensive. Edit: But the one you've been recommend seems like a good choice as well.

It's a "micro" desktop, although it is still larger than what I had in mind when I bought it. The board is a microATX, a smaller case probably would have been even more of a pain to assemble. I've also got a mini ITX but not using it anymore, just too sloooow and noisy(small fans). Erm kinda off topic .

Thanks for the info mcichocki. The only thing that draws a lot of power in my rigg is the graphics card. Got a PSU with high efficiency, mobile CPU(dothan) and notebook HD in there. I hope I don't exceed 200, I maybe not even 100, but no idea since I never measured it.

My broker doesn't supply historical data, that's why I'm leaving my computer on. I hope it doesn't consume a lot of power, I've got good components in there because I built it to be silent that should help a little.

I suppose instead of printing TPO's with letters they are displaying either the volume or the time(secs/minutes) price spent at a certain level. Ensign would have to pay royalties to CBOT if they implemented a TPO based MP, since market profile is copyrighted by CBOT.

Rogue Trader is a great movie for traders, definitely worth watching, thanks for the tip. I've also got to see Rounders which was a lot more fun. Here's a with scenes from a lot of different gambling movies.

Too bad Neoticker gets such bad reviews, I had high hopes for the platform since some of its features sound terrific. Just can hope now that NT will add some cool features soon .

Are you suggesting that you are a criminal ? Just kidding man . My favorite gangster movie must be Heat, that one was really great, also liked Gangs of New York and The Goodfellas a lot. Yep, 3:10 Yuma got better reviews at Rottentomatoes though. The western genre isn't very active so there aren't many recent movies to compare it to. Unforgiven was pretty good too btw. From the movies I have recently seen my favorite is , it's a documentary but really terrific.

Maybe this can help? Basically says that you should run it in XP compatibility mode.
-
It was pretty ok as a movie but it's far from being my favorite western. Somehow I lost interest in the middle of it and imo the ending sucked, don't understand at all why Wade did he did, but maybe just because of losing focus. Open Range was tons better, Maverick was also awesome although it's a whole different kind of movie.

Perfect:thumbs up:, thanks for that. Must say the new summary thread looks awesome.
-
Hi Sergey, Here's something for you. Cheers
-
Thanks thrunner :thumbs up: As for MP, I think anyone who posts/sells some kind of MP has to pay royalties to CBOT. Even though the invention of the MP is not rocket science for some reason CBOT can charge for it. Carter tries to have all this free versions of the squeeze removed from sites, I am sure his business is doing fine, but that disqualifies him as a trader to me. The ntns is a zip file btw. Cheers for that

He had one blow up day shortly before that one and his biggest ever day followed it. That's when I though he was getting careless although, saying that in hindsight is easy and I refrained from leaving such a comment on his blog. I dunno what got into him that day, he used to racks up some nice profits all the time. Hope he'll get it back.

Don't think so, I simply renamed a few variables and stripped stuff from the description. Shouldn't cause difficulties, although my own code hardly ever runs the first time I try it .
