Guess Not

Thanks Zdo and Blue , I think it depends on ones own mental state for trading whatever the amount of capital you have. For me , I actually prefer starting with a small account size. I did this when I started in the FX market. The reason being is that having a smaller account size forced me to only take the best set ups when I first started. My thoughts are having to much capital in the beginning may have an effect on the amount of risk you are willing to take. At least for me this held true. With $10,000 I would be more likely to trade more often due to feeling like "its ok" because I have $10,000 where as say, $2,000 I am forced to focus on the best set ups for the trades working out and cutting losses short. I used to have problem with cutting losses until I cut my capital way down. This forced me to protect what I had and trained my brain into preservation of capital mode. Again everyone is different but this is what worked(s) for me. :thumbs up:

so can we have the answer then? :helloooo:

Zdo , Thanks for the response. The reason I chose the YM at first is that it has a small tick value size. I feel , since this is my first time trading futures , that a small tick size is the best for me right now. $12.50 on the ES is to much for me to handle right now. I use tick charts as well as I believe they give a better representation of price rather than time bars. I have been tweaking my method from the FX world on a demo account and so far has pretty good results , just like FX , market did. The think that I am trying to figure out it how to manage the trades the best way. In FX I trades 2 mini lots , I used one for the trade target and let the other one run. In futures since the margin is different I am only starting out trading one contract , which is fine , but it doe snot lend itself well to letting winners run. I have seen many of my trades hit profit only to see them continue but I have already gotten out of the trade and I have a problem getting back in sometimes due to feeling like I am "chasing" Gekko

New to futures ( not trading) and wanting to here from others that trade the YM. Not really interested in any other futures market at present as I just want to focus on the YM. I have a method that I used in the FX market that lends itself well to YM. Please comment on the successes / failures that you have had in trading this contract. Thanks !!

I remember this from when I was going for my AA degree in a critical thinking class......If I remember correctly you should give the keys to your friend for saving your life , ask him to drive the old lady to the hospital and wait for the bus with you soulmate.

Wow , you got all that from 2 sentences......Nice!

I was stopped out on this riddle, I have already accepted that a few days ago but , in order for me to move on I need to know what I did wrong so I can try and avoid it in the future. This cannot be done without the answer.
-
........until it bends.

I understand you theory here , as far as taking SL, and that you want people to admit when the situation goes against them. If we had real money on this riddle many would have given in a long time ago ....since we are in DEMO mode here the guesses will keep on coming. Most people do not like to admit defeat so the will BHP ( Buy , Hold , Pray) until they are proven right even if it means the lose 90% of the funds. We are playing an emotional game here where there is nothing of real value to be lost. Perhaps those of us that already accepted that we were wrong could get told the answer in a PM so we can move on to the next trade?? Gekko

TA works many times because so many people use it , it tends to be self full-filling. Everyone is looking at the same head and shoulders , or double top or cup and handle , triangle etc..... Most sell/buy according to the people who wrote the so called "books" on these methods....Some people don't but some do ....and we all know that all it takes is a few traders with somewhat large orders to start freaking everyone out and there it goes........Day trading it tough , IMO due to the number of trades and emotional impact it has. I do not think patterns are very useful in charts shorter than 4hrs or so.....they might work sometimes but more often than not they don't .....I day trade and don't look for "patterns" I just look at PA to give me a clue as to what "MAY" happen. just regular candlesticks tell me more in day trading than any pattern.
-
For FX I use 2. MA and a set of Bands as a guide but PA is always king....it is the only non - lagging indicator I know of. For futures I use PA only .....using S/R

Yes seriously I am dying to know the answer to this.... UNCLE ,UNCLE!!

I have been reading books on the financial markets for over 6 years and I also have a degree in finance and I can say that this book was the BEST book I have ever read to learn about trading. If you can understand and implement what the author is telling you in this book, there is no reason you cannot be successful at trading. Whether you are a day trader or longer term investor this book will help you make money. There are not any "methods" per se or "systems" in this book that is not what it is about. The author is trying to explain to the reader what his/her problem is when it comes to trading.....IT'S YOU!! Your emotions.....I would suggest this be the first book people read before learning anything else about trading.....I wish I had discovered it first it would have helped me save much $$$ back when I first started. I have the audio and print version ........I suggest the audio version as you will retain it better. I listen to this book all the time .....I listen in my car, Ipod at the gym or wherever. GREAT BOOK!:thumbs up:

Hello , I have been trading FX for about 6 years now. I started trading stocks first and did not really like it that much. I find FX better since , for me , it is easier to keep track of a few currency pairs than 3000 stocks and their charts. I am mostly a technical trader. I am going to be trading YM futures soon . After all my research I found the YM a good place to start in futures. In FX I trade 2 time frames ....the 5 min and the 1 hour. I trade my own method that I developed. If you are looking for the holy grail .....stop as you already posses it.....it is your brain. The best EA ever built was the human mind .....

Can anybody recommend some charts that are about 80% accurate.

If I knew the answer to this question I would be filthy rich ..... That being said the best indicator that I have ever seen is PRICE itself. -
Greetings everyone, New to the site , not new to trading. I have been trading FX for the past 6 years , had pretty good success with it. I am now moving into the futures world , mainly YM . Demoing a few brokers as I type this. I have a few different methods I am trying out from the FX world which seem to work ok but need a little tweeking. I say "methods" because I do not really believe in systems as my definition of a system gives no play. A method , in my opinion , is a guide that allows for change every so often. Anyway I am looking forward to communicating with everyone on here.Any brokers that anyone can recommend would be helpful, currently I am considering AMP due to low commissions ans the great Customer service I have received from them just in my demo account.
