i would totally agree - any novice trader should start with stocks and if possible dont start with day trading (most may disagree with it but i have found swing trading stocks rather more easy and relaxed in my days as a newbie) - go for the blue chips or mid caps with consistent trading zones in the past years..... (Yahoo,Msft,Arna,Intel,Blizzard,FB,Dell,HP,Groupon,Zillow etc) would be fine for swings as a starter - once u get better experience with them u may go to micro caps too...

One of the reasons i dont scalp anymore is because of the HTF (trading rooms manipulation also plays a part in it ,atleast in my view)....

If you are a fast scalper then L2 data may help, i know of some traders who trade stocks only looking at the L2 data and not even the charts for quick scalps..its not of any use to swing and position traders..

Speaking only technically- A bounce off the 1530-1550 support zone could be expected on the weekly chart...i'll wait a week more and see if the trends goes bullish at this suppport- then will take a 3-5 weeks long position in it...Gold is precious anyway afterall..:cheers::cheers:

Most of the news and updates on stocks are too lengthy for some to read it all ,so i thought to share fast tweet style posts from the variety of traders and trading websites/newsletters i follow everyday. It'll mostly cover small to medium cap stocks alongwith some big names we cant miss on...So here we go..

Common sense does makes sense sometimes..u just have to look at the bigger pictures and trade long terms. Look at the 3 to 1 year charts ,look at the current and near term economic events, look if the current market is stable/overvalued/undervalued or reaching overvalued/undervalued position. look at some of the fundamentals of the underlying assets and their recent progress alongwith near term events. In the end do some technicals (RSI,S/R,MACD) if u want to and make entries/exits. If we talk about scalping then indeed common sense dont make sense but from medium to long term positions common sense does make sense most of the times if not everytime.

Could HFT be responsible for it? or maybe the uncertainties of the global economies?

Afterall its a bluechip. Even if bluechips go down, they regain their original value with time...Same goes for Apple as it will retake its value to the mid 500's or upto 600.

Nice article..i think the Hanging Man and the Hammer also deserves a place in top 5 alongwith the Doji's....i may have had put either the Hammer/Hangingman /Doji ahead of the engulfing patterns as they play a big part in my trade entries/exits ...just my personal opinion.

Its typically based on forecasts and analysis about interest rates trends, the general flow of funds, political changes, government policies, inter-government relations, and other broad systemic factors...Like you go against the Euro cause u think its in crisis and there's no resolution in near future,in the same time you buy Australian or Canadian Dollar cause u think it'll head up based on current and future economic factors ... Global Macro can minimize the risk if u know how to use it...for example USD and EUR always go in the same direction while the AUD,JPY,Gold,Oil most of the time move in the opposite....Having a big position in USD or EUR favor (after full analysis and study) while taking some small positions in AUS or Oil may minimize the risk in long term if anything goes wrong... Pllzzz shed some more light aswell if i missed something regarding its definition...
