Entered long EURUSD @13295

EURUSD looks to be in consolidation in a very small range. I will look at where it wants to go in the morning to decide on direction. Anyone have any ideas?

Day 2: I am not at my computer for NY open this week. My buy stop did not trigger when I got back to the computer. To make the trade happen I manually entered. Open trade 11:51 EST Long @ 1.3307 Closed trade 17:05 EST @1.3303 Result for the day -4 pips Total to date: -5 pips

As noted on the contest thread, I am doing an experiment to see whether daytrade (Predict account) or swingtrade (my Onemove account) would be more profitable. The daytrade is documented here http://www.traderslaboratory.com/forums/forex-trading-laboratory/16994-predict-experiment.html. Today was the first day of the August Contest. I meant to take the same trade in my account as in the daytrade account, except hold it for an extended time until the direction changes. However, I already goofed. Price was far from where I intended to enter, but thinking I needed to enter one trade a day I entered a trade in the daytrade account. But then was called away. My buy order in the swing account did not trigger thus no trades today.

Day 1: Entered long at 1.3258 Exit 1.3257 -1 pip Tomorrow, it still looks up.
-
My prediction for EURUSD for Monday is up as daily price is above the two moving averages and the stochRSI is pointing up. I would prefer to enter somewhere between 13140 to 13215ish.

This will be a very interesting! August Trading Contest will have several matches - to summarize: 1. Highest Portfolio Return: the traditional contest per Oanda 2. Highest Portfolio Return per Volume of trade: In my mind this is "Smart trading" - the largest reward per unit of swing. 3. Coin-Flip versus Non-Coin-Flip (Predict): This should be an interesting experiment and the discussions for this will be found as per Mysticforex above and reposted here "Coin-Flip" http://www.traderslaboratory.com/forums/forex-trading-laboratory/16846-lets-try-experiment.html "Predict" Collective predicting of market direction http://www.traderslaboratory.com/forums/forex-trading-laboratory/16994-predict-experiment.html Volunteers are needed in both threads, please feel free to participate 4. Daytrading versus Swingtrading - Predict will be a daytrading account, I will be taking swing trades in my regular account Interesting - he?

Thank you Mysticforex for signing up! Looking forward to seeing the experiment unfold!

Thank you Mysticforex for starting this experiment, this is very interesting! The adjacent thread for the "Predict" part of the experiment is to be found here http://www.traderslaboratory.com/forums/forex-trading-laboratory/16994-predict-experiment.html I have a few questions: 1. Are the trades opened at 09:30 EST disregarding ideal entry location? 2. I created a $100,000 account for this experiment - is this the size account you wish to use? I can change it before Sunday so the 2% of the accounts will be similar in size so one is not stopped out prematurely. 3. What size contract are we entering? Additional Question: 4. I was thinking risk:reward=2%:2% - doesn't that mean over the long run our expectancy is breakeven? What about having a 2% risk, but let the trade run until end of the day and not take the 2% target? Thank you!

Thank you 4EverMaAT for signing up! "Predict" is an experimental account, it will trade the EURUSD based on collective predictions - See here http://www.traderslaboratory.com/forums/forex-trading-laboratory/16994-predict-experiment.html

Hello Everyone, I have created an account called "Predict" as the counterpart to the "Coin-Flip" experiment that is to be found here http://www.traderslaboratory.com/forums/forex-trading-laboratory/16846-lets-try-experiment.html The parameters for the "Predict" account will be the same as the "Coin-Flip" using: 1. One trade per day, Trade only EURUSD 2. 2% loss and 2% target 3. Account is USD, Leverage 1:50 4. Entry will be after market opens at 09:30 EST 5. Trade will close at 5pm EST same day Except ofcourse the "Predict" account will be based on our selected predictions. I need a few volunteers to provide guidance and predictions for the next day's EURUSD market. Everyone is invited to participate. Please post your predictions by noting Direction, Reason,Entry Preference (if any), Let'e see whether "predicting" or "random guessing" of direction gains more pips after 4 weeks. The first trade will be taken on August 5th, 2013 as the "Predict" entity in the Forex Trading Contest found here https://fx2.oanda.com/mod_perl/fxcontest/fxcontestadmin.pl?rm=manageContest&contestId=2795

Congratulations Nicoacademia! Thank you Mysticforex for administering the contest. Looking forward to the next one. No objections to change of format.
-
That is amazing! Did this happened on certain pairs only?? I did not notice that in my account.
-
Wow, Nicoacademia, which 3 trades is able to take one +28% in a day?
-
Thank you - it takes courage to share that. Being aware is the first step to control that whisper. That whisper makes its rounds by the way, so know that you are not alone. Next time imagine all of us in the contest backing you when you whisper back to that little guy "I can make up my own mind regarding position size - Thank you very much!" Imho both averaging down and heavily leveraged positions will work under the right market conditions and circumstances. It also comes with associated risks and consequences - an advanced technique indeed with very little margin for error.
-
Let every setback be a learning experience. What went wrong? And how would you avoid that in the future?

Here is the final for April Contest as of end of the day in April. Nicoacademia led the contest almost the entire way and completed the contest with an RUNAWAY Portfolio Return more than doubling that account size - CONGRATULATIONS!!! Mr_Black[bG] sprinted the last few days turning a negative return to a SUBSTANTIAL Portfolio Return - CONGRATULATIONS!! HONORABLE MENTIONS to the ones in POSITIVE: Awarenessforex (4EverMaAT) and wg! Traderunner shows remarkable restraints to not take any trades when conditions are not absolutely perfect.
