  1. Actually I find these MP books very interesting read and not boring at all. Each chapter seems to go in a natural progression, a new chapter feeds off the previous ones. What I find boring are trading books that read like an encyclopedia where you find 20 chapters totally unrelated to each other.
  2. QuoteTracker is a very sophisticated program. The Paintbar feature is awesome. I used to play with it and my charts looked like they came off TradeStation.
  3. LBR's Short Skirt trade may be worth a try after a strong ORB, but it is only a scalp trade. I did one during the last Fed Day and it turned out to be more than a scalp. You just have to trail your stop.
  4. Actually we had a larger ABC that came down from 9/19 high and the length of A leg = length of C leg
  5. Yeah I know. It is two courses he did together with Ken Calhoun. One consists of 8 DVDs and the other 14 DVDs. Both are pretty recent.
  6. Dogpile, Have you ever read "How Markets Really Work - A Quantitative Guide to Stock Market Behavior" by Larry Connors ,who also co-authored Street Smarts with LBR ? It is also full of mechanical strategies you might want to look into if haven't already. I believe it is self-published and only available from his website. It is a 150-page hard cover book that sells for $25. Hmm, I wonder why it is so cheap ?
  7. Ha, looks like that down thrust ended in a Three Little Indians. All that talk about LBR by you two made me digged up my old dusty copy of StreetSmart from my attic. Its been there since the late 90s.
  8. The volume on daily rallies from the Aug 16 low has benn rather poor except a couple days inspired by the Fed. Now we are approaching 90% retracement back to the summer high. Does the low-volume phenomena means we will have serious trouble breaking the old high :hmmmm:
  9. No question learning MMA is the quickest way to learn to defend yourself if that is your goal. But if you really want to be practical, you have to go one step beyond and practice stuff out-lawed by MMA competition such eye-gouge, groin kick, and strike to the neck. Don't laugh because that is necessary when defending against multiple assailants. Also if you are a boxer, you have to learn to do the palm strike instead. Many professional boxers break their hands during a bar fight. Also If you are small guy, you may want to learn the art of pressure point knockout from Dim-Mak or Kyusho. And that may take years.
  10. Don't ever estimate Judo because of its gentleness. Watch MMA great Frank Shamrock practice his daily flow routine with the medicine ball so he can "flow like water" ::thumbs up: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qHP6rLBoW-s
  11. The other possibility is the shape of composite profile do have meaning, but the shapes and interpretations of them are different from the daily profile. Just a thought
  12. Dogpile, Ant had a composite profile up couple days ago and this is an area we are breaking out of. I noticed that the shape is more like a p. I know that p-shape means short-covering in a daily profile. But I am just wondering whether the shape of a composite profile has any meaning ? Just want your opinion.
  13. Go with Judo for now. You will learn the basic skills like balance, fluidity of motion, and how to take a fall. You can gravitate to other arts later
  14. Brownsfan: There is very little info on VBC available on the web. Can you give us some pointers on how to read a VBC chart? For instance what do I look for in (1) a trend reveral ? (2) Congestion prior to a break out ? Since you use very short-term VBCs, do you think Volume HLC bar chart in this case would work just as well ? Thanks
  15. It all depend on your style of trading. some stocktraders only concentrate on 1 or 2 stocks and become an expert at it. they become very familiar with the way the stocks move and direction of the futures is just an added confirmation. The other school is to scan a large universe of stocks for specific patterns and setups. Again they only use direction of the futures to help in their entry. If you are trying to scalp stocks for tinnies by watching Level II quotes, people used to do that in the 90s, but I think those days are over.
  16. Geez! Nobody recommends Johnh Carter anymore ? I thought he is an idol to some of you.
  17. Another thing is if I take a paper clip and try to burn it with the flame on my gas stove, it would turn red and I don't think it is hot enough to ever melt. If you are telling me that jet fuel fire is ten times hot. I am a layman, I don't know. It just appear to me ,that if will take huge amount of energy to make this huge verticle steel beam that run straight through the center WTC tower to just magically melt down, not to mention that it is covered by thick layers of fire proofing material. These findings and calculations by the independent engineering professional just confirm my gut instinct and common sense, That's all.
  18. There is a thing in trading , I think in the army too, called KISS principle. Kiss It Simple and Stupid. Lawyers use fancy words and many people would'nt trust them. I believe if I drop a rock from the top of a 100 story bldg, when it hit the pavement, it may break into smaller pieces, but it won't be in powder form. When all the jet fuel get ignited, most is waisted in a large ball of fire in the air. What ever is left is no way enough to convert most of that concrete that we see into powder form. Energy are not created but only from one form to another, if I remember correctly from high school.
  19. I agree. People obsessed with conspiracy theory probably has mental problems like someone is always out to get them. I was kind of curious how it looks from the law of physics point of view. I live 30 minutes outside of NYC and I can tell you there was just a absolutely huge dusk cloud generated from the collapse. As the engineering professor pointed out in the film clip. When the concrete converts to dusk cloud, tremendous kinetic energy is released. As we know Einstein's equation E=MC2, when all the energy is released, where did the mass go. Without mass , there would'nt be the Pankcake effect claimed by FEMA which one floor cave into the next floor below and so on. Also when one floor cave into another floor, the flloor below create temporay support( Like our pivots ?). They estimate for 100 floors or so to fall like a domino, it will take minimum of 45 seconds. But if you view the footage , it only took 15 seconds. To make the long story short, the only plausible explanation is the TWC was brought down by explosives placed at various strategic locations. As who has planted there explosives ? I will let you guys figure it out. Do I believe there are evil people who are in very powerful positions in our society, well I would'nt rule that one out either.
  20. Yeah, I totally agree with Dogpile, 15 months is the right number and that is doing it full-time without a mentor. With a mentor ? I don't know, I never had one:(
  21. Also, EXCUSE ME. May be I should have it put under the Trading Psychology section. Even if all facts can be proven beyond a reasonable doubt, I would have a very tought time accepting it emotionally. the natural reaction is to laugh it off as totally ridiculous. because I don't care what culture you came from, we were conditioned at a very young age to trust our leaders. If some other deeply imbedded belief that is holding you back from being a successful trader, you will know that you have a lot of work ahead of you.
  22. Please Note: General Discussion Need to take a break? Talk politics, business, entertainment, etc... Anything goes!
  23. We traders pride ourselves on our ability to think independently. As we are approaching the eve of the 6th anniversary of 9/11. What do you think of the following film clip ? http://www.infowars.com/articles/sept11/video_improbable_collapse.htm
