I think it happens when someone has the good sense and skill to execute a search and find that the topic they want to discuss already has a thread devoted to it. Or, like you said, its a spammer (and not the case here). Now does anyone want to buy my $3,000 RSI system? Moving on...

Db - care to expand on your use of CVB (Constant Volume Bars, right? - just checking)? I have used them, and still do but I don't think I have found their real potential as yet. I tend to use them in combination, a longer-frame and a shorter-frame, like you could use hourly and 5-min bars/candles (for example) together. Brownsfan - if this is too far off topic let me know ... I know this is supposed to be about candles and you have a CV candle thread here.

Does Anyone Know a Good Stock Market?
mister ed replied to wasika55's topic in Swing Trading and Position Trading
Hi Wasika - yes there is plenty of information on this site, can I ask why the Peru stock market in particular? -
Hi all – as far as I can tell there is no thread on the forum devoted to issues with Metastock, such as questions about coding indicators, writing explorations etc. There may be a good reason for this … maybe no-one here uses Metastock. I used to use Metastock and on very rare occasions still do, but am still reasonably handy with its coding etc. There are many, many threads and forums devoted to Metastock out there, so maybe there is no real need for it here… but maybe we can bring the unique TL approach to this topic?

[VSA] Volume Spread Analysis Part II
mister ed replied to Soultrader's topic in Volume Spread Analysis
OK with that said I hope this is the end of the navel gazing. We have had enough of the distractions, now back to VSA and Wyckoff in this thread. Traders Laboratory has almost unlimited resources for starting new threads. Let us keep the focus here please and generate new threads as we generate new ideas or delve more deeply into related areas.- 2244 replies

[VSA] Volume Spread Analysis Part II
mister ed replied to Soultrader's topic in Volume Spread Analysis
zdo - sorry if this is a dumb question but the modified HA bars you have shown, does the modification you make have any impact on the acual range of each bar or does that remain the same? So, would a regular 1 minute bar have the same range as the modified HA bars you show in the chart?- 2244 replies

Want to Get Good Returns in Stock Market!!
mister ed replied to credika9's topic in Swing Trading and Position Trading
Hello credika9 - you have come to the right place! The best place to start is this thread, points the way to a lot solid information to get you going. -
This is a great thread Frank - thank-you for your summaries.

James, EBS are actual dealt prices whereas what other charting packages (especially the retail ones) rely on for FX prices are indicative rates provided by interbank dealers. The indicative prices have a lot more variability than the EBS dealt prices, and the indicative rates may very well never actually deal in the market. What this manifests itself on the chart as is more noisy bars, each half-hour bar on the charts you show have a greater range using the indicative prices than using the actual dealt EBS prices, but the extreme prices may very well never have dealt. I didn't know there was any way of getting EBS price feed outside of working in an institution, thanks for the heads-up on CQG. A caveat with EBS prices. The EBS is only one channel through which FX can be dealt. There are 'voice' brokers matching deals between banks, for considerable amounts, as well as banks dealing direct with each other without any broker intervention, in sometimes even greater amounts. Thus the price and volume figures for EBS are, again, only a guide to the whole of the FX market. Having said that, I believe they are a very reliable guide, in terms of sample size, and the best there is. I am not sure of the sort of % of the whole FX business that flows through EBS, but it is substantial. Also, some currencies are a lot more active on EBS than other currencies and thus those more active currencies will have better representative data. I know there are a few participants on the forum who work on the banking side of the FX business, be interested to hear what they have to say on your questions. They may perhaps be able to correct any errors in my information, and broaden on what I have said.

Hi James - this is basically a bump because your post cracked me up so much!

Bars Based on Contracts' Volume As % of Open Interest

Also Tresor - on first inspection the chart seems to show an ever-increasing OI (with the occasional wiggle) ... can you explain it a little further? -
Bars Based on Contracts' Volume As % of Open Interest
mister ed replied to a topic in Technical Analysis
Tresor - really fascinating idea ... and how cool is it to get OI that is so much more up-to-date than what is offered on US exchanges! I am going to look more closely at your chart ... great thread thanks. -
Thanks Torero - great site!

[VSA] Volume Spread Analysis Part II
mister ed replied to Soultrader's topic in Volume Spread Analysis
brownsfan - can I get an email address for you so I can avoid filling the thread with hate mail ...actually I already have one, its on its way now... I guess the simple way around this is to say "each to his (or her) own". But, on with my ramble... Don't forget bf - you have have been at this game for quite a while, probably a lot longer than many of the people who read this thread. I would hope that those new people are reading the threads in your Candlestick Corner section too - candles are useful to me and others. I guess what is being done on this thread is codifying a lot of knowledge that some people, like yourself, have already absorbed and are using. For example, the example you use is a high-volume hammer/doji/whatever buy 'signal', and a few posts here have sought to explain what is significant about the high volume on this candle. What about a low-volume hammer/doji/whatever buy 'signal' though, in what circumstances would the high volume not be necessary? These are the sorts of questions new entrants to the market might ask ... I know it is the sort of question I asked. Well, the posts discussing the action in the bars that followed point out where a low volume hammer/doji/whatever occured and say that this is a different sort of bar than the high volume hammer/doji/whatever (because, partly, the volume was a lot lower), but is still a valid entry point, for such-and-such reasons. I had occasion to be re-reading the original VSA thread today and in it (post 121) one of the posters says "One thing that I am very struck with is the overlap one finds in " things that are true" across various methods" ... he then goes on to compare VSA and candles and concludes "Two methods reaching like conclusions".- 2244 replies
