What is Your Biggest Weakness As a Trader?
Obsidian replied to Jack Francisco's topic in Beginners Forum
applying what you have learned (i.e. the strategy you plan to use) in real time would help you master your plan, you wont be thinking for hours if you should click the button or not. analyze your trades, what pairs are more profitable for you or suits your trading style (you may not use the same strategy on different pairs because they have their own characteristics), what went wrong and your sl was taken, how did prices move after you entered the trade etc... most of beginners biggest weakness is being human. by being human, I am not talking about discipline. I am talking about following the simplest rules. Reading tons of pages cant make you a trader. you should be able to use what you learned... -

Market Sense and Nonsense: How the Markets Really Work (and How They Don't)
Obsidian replied to brownsfan019's topic in Books
alright, please keep us updated if you do -
imagine yourself carrying 5 positions and things turned against you... if you are opening 2-3 positions/day, then you take huge risks... lets say you have 2 winners and 1 loser everyday, 2% each trade...that means 2% everyday! never met a trader who can do that however if you are opening 2-3 positions/month, then 2% would make sense...in my opinion of course

How Do You Feel After the Trading Day is Over?
Obsidian replied to Vince50's topic in Trading Psychology
If it is a profitable day, I do not think about it. I spend rest of my time with wife and son. After they sleep, I check-update-mark charts to find new setups If it is not a profitable day, I do not think about it. I spend rest of my time with wife and son. How to Overcome Your Emotion Distress After a Big Trade Loss?
Obsidian replied to wmck6167's topic in Trading Psychology
a big loss is of course hard to forget BUT it is a precious knowledge that you will never ever forget. on the other hand, changing your system just because of a single bad trade might be worse. you shouldn't be risking too much. -

when some people new electronic devices they read the manual before using it...some just open the package and try to figure out on their own... when I started trading, I had no idea about fundamentals and technical stuff...I would pick random stuff. I would buy stocks without any valid reason and hope they will skyrocket the next day. Some time later (after losing half of my investment) I noticed how stupid (or brave) I was because I was in a battle which I can not win. then I started learning...I would read for hours at night, check the internet, find more sources...I have no idea how many weeks-months I spent using metastock...but at the end I learned how to survive and hunt...

hmm all 3 votes are bearish today the market is focused on the U.S. election, but would the outcome make huge difference on eur/usd?

During early years of my trading journey I would pay too much attention to the news, reports, analyses from so called experts. Since I was not into very short term trades, I thought I have somehow follow fundamental stuff. But that made me more confused because people have different point of view and even opposite ideas sound logical at the same time. I would change the direction of my position after I read something more logical. Of course some time later, got my lessons: -Markets can be wrong but I have to follow the trend to make money. if the market says it is "black" for instance, then black it is...even if it is "white" -Only trade what is triggered by your system.
