  1. I purchased this book shortly after making the transition from the equity markets to futures markets. I was interested in Volman's use of tick charts, and this book was my introduction. I found the book to be organized and well written. The author steps through an explanation for each of the basic setups, then goes on to explain the reason for the trade, pitfalls, and includes insightful notes about trading. There is a chapter on trade management that offers the reader a look at how to manage a trade once the trade has been entered. Volman also addresses account management and risk. I have a book cart full of trading books... I would say that this is one of the better ones. The writing is direct and the concepts are well defined. If you've been around for a while I think you would find the insights offered by the author ring true. In addition, the writing is good enough that I think a novice would find the concepts easily understandable. I don't trade forex, but this is a method that translates well to other markets. If you are interested in scalping I would recommend it as a great read and well worth the price
  2. Amazon Description: Forex Price Action Scalping provides a unique look into the field of professional scalping. Packed with countless charts, this extensive guide on intraday tactics takes the reader straight into the heart of short-term speculation. The book is written to accommodate all aspiring traders who aim to go professional and who want to prepare themselves as thoroughly as possible for the task ahead. Few books have been published, if any, that take the matter of scalping to such a fine and detailed level as does Forex Price Action Scalping. Hundreds of setups, entries and exits (all to the pip) and price action principles are discussed in full detail, along with the notorious issues on the psychological side of the job, as well as the highly important but often overlooked aspects of clever accounting. The book, counting 358 pages, opens up a wealth of information and shares insights and techniques that are simply invaluable to any scalper who is serious about his trading.
  3. Hah... got up early today. Got my game face on and prepared for another glorious day of trading... freakin Presidents Day. Darn presidents anyway. :crap:
  4. Thanks to all for the replies. Special thanks to SIUYA for taking the time... appreciate it. I found a book on Amazon that seems to be what I was looking for: Foreign Exchange: A Practical Guide to the FX Markets (Wiley Finance): Tim Weithers: 9780471732037: Amazon.com: Books Also found an online source for similar material. I don't like reading extensive material online, but for those who don't mind it's free: Learning Center (UNIT A): Absolute Essentials
  5. LOL! I always hated that one... been on the receiving end too many times.
  6. Joseph... hello. I did some research on the matter of forming an LLC a couple of years ago. As I recall the lines drawn by the IRS of "trader" over "investor" are not well defined. The definition is so fuzzy that it may come down to the individual that conducts an audit. As I said, this was from some time ago, the criteria may be better defined today. In my mind, it's always best to hire a professional to conduct legal matters. If the benefits of forming an LLC are there for you, paying up for professional services shouldn't be of great concern. It's a one time cost that affords you some peace of mind.
  7. This book is a well written and straight forward read. Having read two of the books authored by Al Brooks... what a joy Bob Volman's writing is by comparison. This book was my introduction to tick charts, the use of which I've employed in my trading for the past 5 months... highly recommended book if you are interested in scalping strategies. I don't trade forex, but his methods translate well to other markets too. Good stuff... money well spent.
  8. I've traded the equity and futures markets successfully, and would like to consider adding currency trading to the mix. I'm looking for reference material that explains the currency markets in depth. The sort of material that would explain the how, why, and what of currencies, not trading strategies. I'll figure out how to trade it on my own. Thanks.
  9. It did not make mention of that... the gypsy guitarist... his entire story is interesting. The programming was jazz music that aires nightly in my area. I heard a cut from the Frank Vignola album, and had to have it. I had not come across a tribute album before (there may be others)... just thought I would share.
  10. this comical... please stop... I do this well trading the real stuff.
  11. I spend so much time thinking about trading that sometimes my personal life suffers. I happened to stumble across this album while listening to an NPR broadcast. I heard one cut from the album and ordered from Amazon within minutes. I'm always behind the times (it seems)... if you listen to stuff like this... possibly you are are behind the times... so be it. If you love the music of Django Reinhardt this is a tribute album that will find favor. I've played it several times... wonderful... what a nice tribute to a master: "Frank Vignola... 100 years of Django Reinhardt"
  12. No... I'd take it to the grave. Why deprive everyone of the adventure of discovery? Most folks don't have enough to do during the day anyway... let em figure it out. I would consider sharing with family, but with such a system why would I want to take the trouble to teach it... just buy them whatever they need/want... I'm swimming in cash.
  13. The son is but a gleam in daddy's eye... the child will be born in 9 months. 6 years = 72 months 21 years = 252 months (-9) + (252 + 72) = 315 315 / 12 = 26.25 (26 years and 3 months) 26.25 / 5 = 5.25 (5 years and 3 months) 5.25 - 6 = -.75 (9 months) Dad is somewhere very close to mom.
  14. Maybe we've all been in this trade too long. Smart money is backing out... the buy side isn't stepping up... maybe it's time to move on. Just a thought...
  15. No offense intended... it's been a fun problem to consider (thought I nailed it with post #88). Thanks for raising it. I'm just ready to hear the solution.
  16. I could live without knowing for a few more days... possibly a lifetime. I've kinda lost interest to be honest.
  17. 2 to 4 trades per day on the TF. More than 20 trades per week... usually means it's been a rough week.
  18. My last shot (I mean it this time). All bridges, even those that appear to be flat have at least a slight arc. Many for structural reasons, but if nothing else than to allow water drainage. If the railroad tracks where at the same level as the road surface, the bridge may have a considerable arch to allow clearance for the train. I'm using this example as it best illustrates where I'm headed. When traveling "across" a bridge you must drive/walk "around" the circumference of a circle. You can never go straight "across" a bridge as there is an arc, so you must travel "around" the arc.
  19. Ha! She wouldn't be the first to have pegged me with that description.
  20. A play on words? You can can't cross a bridge without being "around" it... "went around" as in being there.
  21. I'm considering adopting this phrase: I might add that... It makes it appear as if you care... really care.
  22. OK... last shot. He meandered about the bridge as he was crossing. This fills the "around" word in the puzzle... yet he still walked across the bridge.
  23. $5.00 divided 4 ways (3 men + the bellboy) = $1.25 each As he only returned a dollar to each of the men, he dragged off $.25 from each = $.75 The bellboy's take was $1.25 + $.75 = $2.00 The bellboy took $2.00 from the $5.00 owed the men... not from the original price of the rooms.
  24. OK... I've given up. PM with the answer...
  25. He came to the bridge and decided to walk down to the next bridge and cross there: He crossed a bridge, and went around a bridge at the same time. If that's not it... I give up.
