  1. I'm moving this to another forum which may be more appropriate: http://www.traderslaboratory.com/forums/trading-markets/10102-looking-other-traders.html
  2. You can also apply to join my Google group for this endeavor: http://groups.google.com/group/its-team/ Sent from my Xoom using Tapatalk
  3. Hi, I'm developing a new trading strategy based on insider buying and looking for four other traders to collaborate with. I am a web developer and plan on developing an automated strategy (as automated as possible, anyway). Please be serious. I'm a part time trader but am serious about this endeavor. Email me at investing(dot)phillips @ gmail com if you want to join me on this journey and tell me a little about yourself and your trading/professional experience. I'd really like to find others with different experience from my own to make this as complimentary as possible. Dave Sent from my Xoom using Tapatalk
  4. I'm read Idiots guide to Technical Analysis....my 7 year old daughter saw it and called me an idiot. Sheesh.... Sent from my Xoom using Tapatalk
  5. Hi all, I'm early new to investing (4 months) and I am in the process of developing my own trading strategy and am in need of doing some back testing. The problem I'm having is that all the back testing software I've seen so far require an automated strategy. I simply want to enter a symbol, a day (maybe ti e) and then a see what kind of performance I would get over several periods of time. I know I could do this manually looking at charts, but I'm looking for something a bit more helpful than that. Any suggestions? Am I making thus more complicated than it is? 6. i guess what i am trying to do is narrow the field, so to speak. I can't, nor do I want, to buy every security that insiders are buying, so if i can add some other pieces of the puzzle, maybe I can increase my chances for a win. Dave
  7. Hi, I'm following insider buys and am looking for maybe 3-5 technical indicators to evaluate within a few days of the insider buy, to determine if the security may be a good investment. I'm looking for indicators that will show that there is growth in the security. I'll probably plan to hold with a trailing stop loss in place for my exit strategy. Any suggestions? Thanks, Dave Sent from my Xoom using Tapatalk
  8. I could really use some feedback on this. I'd like to hear what others think would be good indicators to use, along with the insider buy, to determine if its a serious stock to look at. Please let me know if i posted in wrong forum. Sent from my Xoom using Tapatalk
  9. Hi, I am a programmer by trade, but have been doing some unfocused trading, myself over the last few months. With what I have read during, y self-educating research, a trader who ecpecta to be successful, whatever that means to him/her, must have a system and must stick to their system. I have been trying to identify a system tha t will capture insider trades from sec website, then allow me to add additional indicators and then screen those stock a that have insider trades to ultimately produce a watch list for potential investments and then notify me immediately by text/email when a stock reaches a certain threshold so i can then make a buy decision. I have not been able to identify a system like this and, so, am hoping someone hear knows of one. If not, I may endeavor to write my own. Ideally it would test the indicators the moment it sees the insider trade on the sec website and then if its a "good find", immediately send me an email and txt message alert. Hey, if it can enter my trade for me, that would be even better. Does anyone here know of such a system and, if so please share the info? If not, is anyone here willing to help me design such a system? I can build it, no question, but I don want to reinvent the wheel. Thanks for your input. 10. I've created a little service called InsiderTradeAlerts.com. site is not quite up yet. I'm actually looking for about ten other traders to try the service out free of course. Basically you sign up on the site and then you will get near real-time email (or txt msg if you like) alerts on insider trades as they are being reported to the SEC. They will even include real time quote details so you can quickly gauge the buy/sell and the price the insider paid along with current pricing. Another option would be to have recent news articles included in the email. The idea is to be able to make quick analysis to determine if a trade should be made or not, without having to jump around to different tools. I've seen several sites that list these filings, but I honestly wanted to get notified immediately to see if a trading opportunity exists. If you'd like to try it out, let me know and ill add you to my list. You'll be able to sign up sometimes friday or over the weekend. Again, I should remind everyone, the is a free service, so I'm not selling anything here, just looking for some honest feedback. Dave Sent from my Xoom using Tapatalk
  11. Yes, I'm loving tapatalk...way better than the laggy browser. :-) OK, let me try your idea. Can you give me a specific pattern to start with...something not too complex. Sent from my Xoom using Tapatalk
  12. Thanks! Tapatalk is in the android market. So for the idea, you're saying, a user should be able to specify an certain chart pattern and the system would run that sca n automticaly for you at a time you specify and then alert you when it is ready and present the chart with any relate news items, blog content,RSS feeds, that mention the company. Does that sound about right? Sent from my Xoom using Tapatalk
  13. Hi all, Well I decided I would finally introduce myself. I just started actively trading about a month or so ago. I'm loving it. Even though I've already had some hard lessons, I have also had some good ones too. :-) I am still trying to settle on a broker. I am only starting with about $5k and right now I have it split between Tradestation and fidelity. I love the Tradestation platform, especially the direct access trading, but disappointed you have to trade OTC by phone. As a web developer, the thought of programming my own strategies is also exciting as well. I will tell you that I am shocked at the number of websites out there trying to sell traders SOMETHING. There are alot of sites selling the same stuff. As a former .com entrepreneur inntgeblate 90's, I'm hoping to start my own site at some point, but I still need to learn the industry first. I AM looking for any ideas anyone has for some service that isn't currently offered. I can make a website do just about anything and I would only pursue something like that if I thought it would really help traders like myself. Well, thanks for the 'space' to introduce myself. Ill probably be lurking for awhile before I start posting. I don't want to look stupid! Dave Sent from my Xoom using Tapatalk
