hi, nycdweller, a very good review of Graifer's Book can be found in amazon.com, especially those comments made by dbphoenix and james lee (both are invaluable contributors to this forum) as usual, there's not so good comments about the Book as well, you've to make judgment on your own yes, it applies to daytrading as well link: http://www.amazon.com/Techniques-Tape-Reading-Vadym-Graifer/dp/0071414908/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1230189905&sr=8-2

Hi, Kiwi, I love to provide review of Pascal's Book "Value in Time", but it'll take a bit of time for my order to arrive as I ordered it thru Traderslibrary taking advantage of their free worldwide shipping offer. From past experience, they'll ship it by surface mail. In the meantime, members can visit Pascal's website: effectivevolume.eu. Btw, the author is a philanthropist: if one donates US$50 or above to the foundation for handicapped children, one can get his Excel Add On software.
-
How about adding the following: a. Vadym Graifer: Techniques of Tape Reading b. Suri Duddella: Trade Chart Patterns Like the Pros c. Pascal Willain:Value in Time: Better Trading through Effective Volume (I just ordered this book, to the best of knowledge, the author tries to unmask the selling/buying patterns of the big boys using his proprietary Effective Volume)
-
Vadym Graifer's Techniques of Tape Reading is an excellent book as well.
-
Vadym Graifer's "Techniques of Tape Reading" is an excellent beginner's guide to day trading, imho
-
I like #4: the use of walking a log over a river to explain the reasons why most traders (including me:crap::doh:) fail to let profits run, what a provoking analogy! Thanks very much.

Japanese Candlestick Charting Techniques, Second Edition by Steve Nison
jessechan replied to brownsfan019's topic in Books
Hi, Tim, I have Morris's book as well as Bigalow's book. Both of them are quite good for candlestick course. I'm not sure if I should get Nison's book as well. Thanks. Jesse -
Japanese Candlestick Charting Techniques, Second Edition by Steve Nison
jessechan replied to brownsfan019's topic in Books
How would one compare Nison's book with Bigalow's "High Profit Candlestick Patterns"? I like the latter very much, but I haven't read the former. -
Just learned that Jim Paul's book "What I Learned Losing A Million Dollars" is available for sale from traderspress for US$49.95.
-
This is an indispensable guide to patterns trading: one needs to put it next to his trading computer.
-
HSCEI(or HHI) is even more scaring, it's much more volatile than HSI given the fact that the latter's margin is lower than the former
-
Trading Hong Kong's HSI may be another choice, liquidity is not a problem, but very volatile recently.
-
it's a pity that I don't have a chance to work for Uncle Sam another good book not so related to trading superficially is: The New Psycho-Cybernetics
-
you mean "Unleash the Warrior Within"

Any suggestion? Thanks.

Can Soultrader or some other members recommend some good books on trading psychology? The ones that I like most so far are: a. Mark Douglas: Trading in the Zone b. Steenbarger: Enhancing Trader Performance c. Larry Phillips: Zen and the Art of Poker d. Roosevelt: Exceptional Trading Btw, heard that Jim Paul's "What I Losing A Million Dollars" is an excellent read, however, it's out of print and only available at very high prices. Thanks.

I like this book as well. This is a beginner textbook for tape reading. After having a grasp over it, one should read the following books as well: a. Tom Williams: Master the Market b. Bryce Gilmore: Price Action Manual 2007 c. Suri Duddella: Trade Chart Patterns like the Pros d. Linda Raschke: Street Smarts To be more complete, one should spend more time on trading psychology as trading success is a 90% mental game.
-
Just kidding, no pun intended. :embarassed:
-
Hi, OAC, In your case, I don't think you should buy the book, imho. Maybe you should borrow the book from someone if you're still interested in the remaining 5% trading patterns.
-
All of you post some interesting trading books, but some of them are not new trading books as mentioned in the title thread, :o, just joking. Another new trading book I'll mention is Bryce Gilmore's Price Action Manual - One Day at a Time 2007, another very practical S&P trading handbook. Bryce even offers his ES Price Action Chronicles Vol 1 for A$1 only.
-
I like the book, it's kind of price action type trading book, it seems that Tom develops the VSA concept from the Wyckoff method. However, having read through it several times, I've summarized the whole book into 2 A4 pages. It seems that maybe I've missed a lot of important points. Need to do more hard working on this subject.
-
I like very much the idea of integrating VSA with candles. Tom William's "Master the Trade" uses bar charts only. Thanks TG for starting this thread.

Sorry for posting twice as I mistakenly believed that the first message didn't send out and then found out I've spelled the author's name incorrectly.:crap:
-
contrary to some others' comments, i like his 2nd book better because it introduces some reliable setups like high/low close doji, 2nd hammer low plus other concepts like higher closing high and lower closing low for entries and exits (although the latter part resembles very much Michael Jardine's market structure high/low), anyway, it's very practical trading concepts btw, i'll re-read John's 1st book again to see if i've missed something important:crap:

Applying Poker Strategies to Trading The Markets
jessechan replied to Soultrader's topic in Trading Articles
Perhaps one should add Larry Phillips's "Zen and the Art of Poker" to his trading psychology reading list as well.
