  1. Hello Reaver Well... Since I started earlier this year I've taken a drawdown of 90%:embarassed:, I'm still in good mood, but for some reason I thought it would be easier to learn to trade or atleast easier not to act as an idiot sometimes. I don't give up, I'm in a nice learning process, but huhh... experience costs As long as I learn something every day I'm happy and my beliefs in the greater still drives me. ** I don't mind if it's subscription based as long it's good, but free stuff is allways nice :haha: Cheers - and thanks for asking.
  2. Hello.. I'm looking for the best online charting and indicator site? At my pc at home home I've a couple of charting applications installed, but what if I for instance was at my folks place or maybe a friend and I suddenly wanted to watch a stockquote. At the moment I use this one: http://investing.businessweek.com/research/stocks/charts/charts.asp?symbol=CW.L I like it because of the many indicators and possibilities, but unfortunately I can't build a watchlist etc. What online sites do you use? Kind regards Janus
  3. Absolute Silenzio - aka the sweet music of silence :p
  4. Funny you started this thread, I've actually done a lot of studying using tick charts and/ or timebased charts. I've also experimented with different tick numbers according to the stock price / stock volume. And I've found that some stocks behave very nicely using a 23 tick while other should be traded using 55 ticks etc. I've also traded using 233 sec for entering a trade and 5 tick to exit (I mentioned that in another thread, my writing now should express my newest findings since that) Anyway the Copenhagen Stock Exchange opens at 09:00 and closes 17:00, the closing auction starts 16:50 and therefore I use a 47 min chart as this gives me the last tradeable candle up to 16:50, it opens 16:03 and closes 16:50 - this is only when I'm looking for a good 'day to day' entry if I believe in a nice tomorrow morning
  5. torero, thanks for your input. I use a screen setup of 55minutes, 987 seconds, 233 seconds and 5-tick. I use the 233 sec to watch for setups. The 55minutes and 987sec are for the trend and the 5-tick is when I'm in a trade.
  6. Hi browsfan -> No I'm not looking for the same exit strategy everytime. Just a hint or two My screenshot was merely something to talk or discuss about. Anyway... I was messing around with eSignal and there's a feature called Tick Replay, I had absolutely no trouble getting into or out of a trade there. I tested my entry with 5 different papers, huh if I just could trade like that IRL. (without emotions) I guess that's what differentiates a good trader from a newbie *LOL* Okay... Guess I need more screen hours
  7. Yes okay.. I need a set of consistent exit rules. Sometimes a stock can raise as much as 4-5% so it's a bit hard for me just to exit before the first pullback and maybe just score 1-1.5% I need to be happy with the trade.. I know and there allways comes another great opportunity. Could someone be so kind to guide me into an exit-rule based upon my screenshot? What should definitely be the last exit and what signs are the strongest?
  8. How do I overcome my greed and my optimistic behavior? This is starting to irritate me a bit, it happens over and over again and again, I get caught into some sort of greed or closes my eyes for the reality. Please take a look at the attachment, I entered the trade yesterday at 16:41, price 425.00 as I saw a starting BBSqueeze and also a lightgreen at the Goslin, the TickDelta was also positive. This morning would have been a wonderfull experience to sell around 9:30 to the price 432 , but for some strange reason I did'nt succeed. More wanted more... :o I sold later to a bargain of 427.00  8 out of 10 entries are with me in the start, but out of the 8 I only manage to get out of 3 with succes, the other 5 disappears into the thin air and I suffer a small loss everytime. How do you manage to get out in time?
  9. TheBramble-> No I don't think you misunderstood something, it' was perhaps me who answered a question without any thoughts. So if I understand you correct, then we need to know what the throughput normally would be to keep the price unchanged. What marketmakers buys and whom sells and at what rate. Could a sort of a advanced broker statistic tell us what we need to know? - For the last couple of months I've been thinking about a system which collects sell and buy for a specific stock, it should be self-learning in that manner that every time a broker buy stocks it would accumulate his total holding and vice versa with the selling. If the broker sells more stocks than he owns could we then say it's shorting or do we need to adjust his total holding? In the beginning such a system would be very very unprecise, but as time goes it would reflect broker holdings and maybe also behavioral patterns.
  10. Another evidence that automated trading is getting bigger and bigger: Traders Online: The stock dealers and institutional traders complete interactive news and information service of Traders Magazine I'm tired and amazed... it's 01:23 midnight here in Denmark wonder if I'll be able to sleep... there's so many things to read
  11. Just wanted to share: Progress Apama Algorithmic Trading Platform for Buy-side and Sell-side Trading: Apama: Progress Software Corporation IMHO the future is getting darker and darker :s
  12. If the stock accumulates or distributes you can tell it by looking at A/D - Accumulation/Distribution Technical Indicators, Technical Analysis So back to my point, the scanner could then look for long entries by filtering what stocks that have a growth rate greater then 3% taken from bottom reversal, furthermore it could use some sort of a regressionline between two earlier top or bottoms to enhance the probability.... All this is only pure guess work, but it's something that I'm going to test as time goes by
  13. Hi torero... exactly my thoughts also. I've found this: NeoTicker Blog » Oddball System - An Update it's clear that the system performed very bad after 2002. Could that be the evidence that it has been over used? Horus -> You mentioned you're using a slightly improved variation of OddBall, do you mind to share - not the exact algorithm, but just some bits?
  14. I work as a systemdeveloper for a living and I don't think it's possible to program a piece of SW that can do better than an experienced trader. However I've a strong believe that a program can do scan through a list of stocks and filter out the most potential ones. For instance, give me all stocks which is accumulating along with a growing momentum or scan for stocks with ma(50)day is crossing ma(200)day from above or.... but to create the Holy Grail huh... imho impossible, however I do think that a nice implemented trading system can perform alot better than the average trader.
  15. I'm not trading automated but I'm studying a lot about it. The seach for the holy Grail.... well dreams are free :P First of all I think I need to trade by myself and if that succeed (ie. not losing money) then and only then I should be able to develop a semi-automated trading system. However I stumpled across this website: Collective2 - The Trading System Authority which compares a lot of different automated trading systems. I've found this one: Collective2: woowy 2007/3 especially interesting
  16. Folks.... Very nice with all this feedback, I'll get back with a tradingplan and some more screenshots. No it's not, could look like one. I'm just a n00b trying to learn, the best way to that imho is to be honest and openminded!
  17. I'm having a usual review of my tradingday right now and.. I just need to share. Quite horrible, I'm having so much trouble understanding how much stupidity a man can handle without going crazy. What went wrong 10:55 and 11:50 and 13:00 and and and... 29 trades Drawdown 2% without commision
  18. Hello I've earlier received some help regarding the indicators used in TTM Squeeze video, I've created 2 screenshots; one displaying the BB Period:20, SD:1. Keltner Channel Period:20, ATRPeriod:10, ATRFactor:1,5 - As I understand the periods, sd and atr would those then be correct? In the other attachment I've adjusted BB SD:1 to SD:1.5 and it gives me a much cleaner cut. This is all indicators I know I know etc etc... But the best way to learn imho is to study what others have been doing in the past and trying to reimplement this into ones own world. So if anybody could take a look, comment and tell me if I'm doing something wrong or point me in another direction I would be happy Kind regards
  19. What can I say... I just love this forum and the contributors.
  20. torero-> Sorry but I can't see the $99/ month, could it be when you're using TS as broker? walterw-> No particular reason for the choice of market, I just thought it would be a good idea to learn the basics in my own region Yes just started looking at prophet.net(thanks to your advice) dalby-> huh... but I need the OMX - Copenhagen Stock Exchange data so... but the more knowledge I get the more hooked I'm at trading other than the Nordics.
  21. Hello. I've read alot of The Squeeze Indicator and the different enhanced ones that comes into play - very interesting! I'm trying to grasp some base knowledge and wanted to try program such an indicator by myself for use in Wealth-Lab. I've also watched the video The Squeeze Indicator It's concept is based on capturing breakout moves by using the Bollinger Bands and the Keltner Channels and by using the momentum also. 1. What periods and standard deviation are used in Bollinger Band? 2. What EMA and ATR are used for the Keltner Channel? Kind regards Janus
  22. Tradestation 8.0 costs $250/ month without broker. eSignal costs as I remember $82/ month Roughly it totals to $350 in monthly fees - expensive for me :o Well okay... thank you all, maybe I can afford that in the future. And if I can't then me existence at the market is inadequate imho.
  23. Hello It seems that the majority of people in here are using TS for their needs. I'm curious if anybody know how much Tradestation costs and if this is a good solution for informational purposes for trading the Nordic Exchanges. I've my own broker, so actually I don't need the tradingmodule in TS. Any advice are welcome for a tradingplatform where it's possible to use own dataprovider if the vendor doesn't supply the OMX-Nordic Exchange. NB, I dont like eSignal, I think their usability and user interface looks like something from the 90' Kind regards Janus
  24. I'm confused now, are you telling me that a cannot build a strategy in only daytrading at a bullday? I thought the whole idea of developing a rocksolid strategy should be a way of doing things under different circumstances ie. difference strategies in different scenarios?
  25. Soultrader-> I trade the the OMX Nordic Market, just started out at the Copenhagen Stock Exchange. My timeframe could span from minut to minut or day to day, maybe longer depends on the trend (I've heard it should be my friend ) I've read alot about risk/ money management, very enlightning. I just bought Mastering the Trade: Proven Techniques for Profiting from Intraday and Swing Trading Setups (McGraw-Hill Trader's Edge) by John Carter (Author) I've also studied different indicators, for instance Ichimoku Kinko Hyo and so forth. I've bought WealthLab to do backtesting and studying. All of this this does'nt actually make me a mastertrader, I believe the best way to learn is to be in the market and do the same mistakes over and over again with a little twist to the better side each time If you know... Beside to be in the market is also to have good communication with people who actually are 'in the markets', making money and learn from them. I can read and read and do the 'try and error' over and over again, but if I don't get to know the correct path from the beginning it could it could turn out to be a very hard ride But folks, You both have been very kind and brownsfan019 thank you for candle crashcourse. The next time I'll be more specific in my questionline. You both just pointed me in a wishfull direction. Kind regards Janus
