I am just about to finish reading that thread of Optiontimer. Awaiting you over there with a couple of questions, as you are the vet in there:) Can't understand why you say the 2% rule is flawed. I am presently having tough times recouping the losses from 4 trades in a row in the last contest, that didn't even total 2% of my account. Sure I don't have a fixed strategy either. Still struggling to stick to one.

Hi Ingot, I might be getting some thing wrong but this kind of results, plus or minus 10+% in one single trade makes me wonder if you limit yourself to the "generally accepted" norm of 2% risk per trade? Kuokam
-
Definitely with you on the discussion idea, Ingot, either here or somewhere else.
-
Bravissimo ! Ingot we trust !

I am with the 50% who think neither of these guys will change any thing, since they are on custody and monitored by lobbies and "brotherhoods" whose agendas might not be that sexy if made naked.

If you mean how to post a chart, this is how I do it: 1- save it on the computer 2- go to manage attachments, below the the thread/post, on the "additional options" panel 3- go fetch the image where it is on the computer and 4- upload it Btw, this is a weekly chart of Eur/Nzd I shorted last night, but trailed my SL too early this morning and got out at BE. Will look to re enter short ASAP. If only I had "sit tight", I'd be 40 pips ahead ! Ok if you will explain to me how to do that I will gladly.
-
I will re read the whole thing then. Thank you
-
Maybe you should try and see for yourself, on a demo account ? I just got directed to this thread, finishing reading the book by S Kroll and then try the system.
-
Well done Option, and thank you for pointing to that thread, I didn't know existed. I've also started reading Stanley Kroll's book you recommand, great author I also ignored. I must say that I could not find the answer to the question of Bob, since the strategy in your thread, as taught by SK is one of long term trend following. But here you hit so fast and hard !

I just re-signed to the contest
-
I see "rejected by administrator" on my record. Wonder what it means. I have got some trades on metals rejected and Oanda could not tell me why.
-
Just re entered the contest. okay, Sir ?

How Do You Determine Your Direction at the Start of the Day?
kuokam replied to suby's topic in Technical Analysis
Pardon my ignorance. How are those instruments correlated? -
I don't trade CAD but if my calendar is up to date, the next rate statement is next week on the 23.

Agree with your bias but, as always, the COT is an indicator and you still have to time your trade. Now, this an extreme! BTW do you think Upperman a better teacher on the subject than Larry Williams?
-
We might be in for a ride down in gold
-
I thought these swings in account balance were impossible with Oanda. How is that possible with 50% leverage?
-
Bravo Nico, this time you played that opening gap right .
-
Amin! Anyway they mirror one another must of the time
-
Some authors say follow the specs, some say the comm lead the way. Some even add the small specs in I am puzzled which way to go, though I reckon reading the COT well might be of great help.
-
Who do you follow, the specs or the commercials?
-
Take profits? How about the forth commandment "let your profits run" ?
-
I believe the longer the term the harder it will be to have contestants, but I might be wrong. If I get it right, nothing is closed at the end of the month and the trades and balances are carried forward into the next month comp. Will the results not be the same after 3 months?
-
Totally agree that changing time frame might solve part of the problem, but not trained to take a trade on say the hourly and set the stop on the daily. Maybe should try. Is there any difference between distribution line an resistance? Why do you use distribution and not accumulation? BTW I recently viewed a webinar where they talked of "supply zones" and "demand zones", which to me equaled S/R zones, but they never outed the words S/R. As for sufficient funds, we are assuming there are. Anyway if the likes of LTCM, Enron, Lehman, Madoff and PFGBEST could not have enough capital, will you and I ever have?
