For speculations, I only buy calls\puts. This puts a floor to any potential losses and lets me ride out wild swings and sleep at night. MMS

Understanding the Felton Trading System
MadMarketScientist replied to Roger Felton's topic in Technical Analysis
That is correct - he is sharing details of his trading system. In our eyes, it is educational content. He is not putting any backlinks or soliciting sales. In the spirit of sharing, I've asked Roger to detail the method behind the indicators he is referring to. If he doesn't, then we will shut this thread down as an advert. Let's give him a chance. What is the value to the community? Well why don't we let the community decide that for themselves? If you don't like the thread please don't participate in it. Everyone sees value differently. And yes the last part of this post is getting off topic so I will leave my reply for a day or so and then I will delete it so we can get back to discussing Roger's method. thx MMS -
Because it was off-topic to the subject. The subject of the thread was a trading method and we want to keep the posts about that. onesmith's post was accusing him of fraud, clearly not on topic. If someone doesn't like the trading strategy being discussed, please ignore the thread. thx MMS
-
Probably yes. But I am an optimist by nature and I always hope everyone can just get along! MMS
-
No - moderating this thread is not something I enjoy! MMS
-
From his last post, gosu is unhappy with the level of moderation. He thinks we should allow personal insults and members to ridicule each other. But that is not the type of forum we want at TL. I hope gosu reconsiders but that is a rule we are non-negotiable about. thx MMS
-
Welcome to TL. When that happens to me I don't give up on it right away. I might just be a little early and the opportunity could still go my way later in the day. But while I am waiting I definitely try my damn hardest not to have trigger-finger - this is probably the hardest part. MMS

No I was referring to the previous discussion with SUIYA about why you don't provide statements in your course. SUIYA posted his review and I think we've come to a conclusion on what he thinks of your course. I hope you can take the feedback constructively. But as far as sharing on TL, NO ONE has to post statements here, that is ridiculous. So if you have something to contribute please start a new thread and do so. thx MMS

Lets all get on the same page. People can post charts and talk about their methods all they want. We draw the line when they are promoting the sale of it in the forums. Roger did nothing wrong posting that chart so lets all just relax and not jump on the guy so quickly. Now if he starts trying to sell it on the forums we will moderate and take appropriate steps. Here is my take: it should be a huge red flag for anyone that Roger wont provide statements. We dont need to be the guardians of people who know this and dont care. Lets not beat a dead horse. But unfortunately, Roger is right about the negativity Thx MMS

All remnants of the past - just haven't had time to remove them yet. Thanks for showing me this list, I will cleanup right away. MMS -
Hi, I've been trading options the last year so maybe I could help - definitely with the 'basics' as you've described. Noticed you are not interested in discussing options strategies, not sure why, but that's how you implement them! I'm sure you've seen the set of articles we have? MMS

How to Be a Trader and Having a Family Life?
MadMarketScientist posted a topic in Trading Psychology
From our TA Debunked thread, let's share how this is possible? For myself, one thing that is important is to have set time of the day away at the office, away from the wife and kids. I actually have an office to go - I couldn't do this working from home but I gather everyone is different. Another thing is to not discuss details of my positions with the wife. In May, at one point my positions were minus $30k. If she knew this would stress her out and that is never good. MMS -
This Is Why There Are No Jobs in America
MadMarketScientist replied to MadMarketScientist's topic in General Trading
You didn't think that article was entertaining and dead-on true? MMS -
Awesome article ... MMS --------------------------- I'd like to make you a business offer. Seriously. This is a real offer. In fact, you really can't turn me down, as you'll come to understand in a moment… Here's the deal. You're going to start a business or expand the one you've got now. It doesn't really matter what you do or what you're going to do. I'll partner with you no matter what business you're in – as long as it's legal. But I can't give you any capital – you have to come up with that on your own. I won't give you any labor – that's definitely up to you. What I will do, however, is demand you follow all sorts of rules about what products and services you can offer, how much (and how often) you pay your employees, and where and when you're allowed to operate your business. That's my role in the affair – to tell you what to do. Now in return for my rules, I'm going to take roughly half of whatever you make in the business each year. Half seems fair, doesn't it? I think so. Of course, that's half of your profits. You're also going to have to pay me about 12% of whatever you decide to pay your employees because you've got to cover my expenses for promulgating all of the rules about who you can employ, when, where, and how. Come on, you're my partner. It's only "fair." Now… after you've put your hard-earned savings at risk to start this business, and after you've worked hard at it for a few decades (paying me my 50% or a bit more along the way each year), you might decide you'd like to cash out – to finally live the good life. Whether or not this is "fair" – some people never can afford to retire – is a different argument. As your partner, I'm happy for you to sell whenever you'd like… because our agreement says, if you sell, you have to pay me an additional 20% of whatever the capitalized value of the business is at that time. I know… I know… you put up all the original capital. You took all the risks. You put in all of the labor. That's all true. But I've done my part, too. I've collected 50% of the profits each year. And I've always come up with more rules for you to follow each year. Therefore, I deserve another, final 20% slice of the business. Oh… and one more thing… Even after you've sold the business and paid all of my fees… I'd recommend buying lots of life insurance. You see, even after you've been retired for years, when you die, you'll have to pay me 50% of whatever your estate is worth. After all, I've got lots of partners and not all of them are as successful as you and your family. We don't think it's "fair" for your kids to have such a big advantage. But if you buy enough life insurance, you can finance this expense for your children. All in all, if you're a very successful entrepreneur… if you're one of the rare, lucky, and hard-working people who can create a new company, employ lots of people, and satisfy the public… you'll end up paying me more than 75% of your income over your life. Thanks so much. I'm sure you'll think my offer is reasonable and happily partner with me… but it doesn't really matter how you feel about it because if you ever try to stiff me – or cheat me on any of my fees or rules – I'll break down your door in the middle of the night, threaten you and your family with heavy, automatic weapons, and throw you in jail. That's how civil society is supposed to work, right? This is Amerika, isn't it? That's the offer Amerika gives its entrepreneurs. And the idiots in Washington wonder why there are no new jobs… Regards, Porter Stansberry

Luck- is It a Supportive Factor to Everyday Trading?
MadMarketScientist replied to Jack Francisco's topic in Beginners Forum
Working hard and doing the right things creates its own kind of luck. This is true in business and also in trading. However, I admit I have a little of envy of some people who just happen to have pure luck - and those people are out there trust me I know some of them! MMS -
What Happens if Greece Defaults?
MadMarketScientist replied to Obsidian's topic in Market News & Analysis
It's a beautiful place to vacation ... the only Greek product I know of is the Greek Yogurt my wife eats ... but I'm not even sure its made there. They need to start paying their taxes ... the average 'stated income' of doctors is $30,000! Pathetic. MMS -
Off Topic and Moderation
MadMarketScientist replied to MadMarketScientist's topic in Announcements and Support
That is not true, I only delete posts where insults are being thrown around. If someone questions a vendor (without insults) and he doesn't respond appropriately (or not at all), the original question stays and the whole world will see the vendor doesn't like to answer questions. Further, when possible, I try to edit the posts to just remove the insults but to keep the intent of the post intact. This takes a lot of my time! I do not favor vendors at all. They are all identified and are told strictly any advertisements are not allowed and will be removed. If there are any posts where you believe there is an advertisement please report the specific post. I went through this entire thread and removed all mention of classes\etc by Roger. He has also been warned not to mention them again. In addition, we will be actively monitoring this. I am not protecting him - if you recall my previous post this subject came up because of an entirely different thread - the TA Debunked one. Roger has been dealt with - he will moderated more closely. All his advertisements have been removed. MMS -
