Vendors Vendors Vendors
MadMarketScientist replied to MadMarketScientist's topic in General Discussion
Thanks clmacdougall. I just want to reiterate the point that we are not here to do a witch-hunt nor is anyone making any statements about the value of their services\products. This is just identification for the community and lets leave it at that. thanks, MMS -

Vendors Vendors Vendors
MadMarketScientist replied to MadMarketScientist's topic in General Discussion
I think the moderators have been doing a pretty good job of keeping this stuff to a minimum. But we also rely on the the community to self-police, ignoring offending posts and reporting them is the best way to deal with it. Replying with a similarly offending comment just escalates the situation but I know its hard not to do. Can we improve in the moderation? thanks, MMS -
Yahoo Historical Data - Include After Hours?
MadMarketScientist replied to cjp231's topic in Beginners Forum
If you are using excel, try this plugin. It uses yahoo, msn, etc to get data and has a huge list of functions. I'm not sure if Yahoo has aftermarket but if it does, this plugin will have access to it. XLQ Good luck, MMS -

HOT TOPIC Technical Trading Axioms - http://www.traderslaboratory.com/forums/technical-analysis/10620-technical-trading-axioms-candidates-approval.html I would like people to suggest Technical Trading Axioms. So you will state or propose a Technical Trading "Truth" that you regard as self-evident, generally accepted, or has evidence of being well established. Vendors Vendors Vendors
MadMarketScientist replied to MadMarketScientist's topic in General Discussion
Hi Guys, Let's try to stay on topic here, this is not a thread to bring up past grudges in public. Thanks everyone for cooperating. Just to make a point about transparency, the only people paying TL are the advertisers that run display banners. There are no 'stealth' vendors paying TL. So to summarize some ideas from everyone - there are really two camps I see: 1. label 'vendors' so everyone knows who is what 2. let the members and community decide for themselves what to believe and what to ignore (without resorting to attacks) Any other comments? thx MMS -
Hi, To keep this thread on topic, I've moved all the vendor talk to another thread: http://www.traderslaboratory.com/forums/general-discussion/10633-vendors-vendors-vendors.html thanks, MMS
-
Ok I see a ton of threads degenerating into a 'vendor' bash ... so here is a thread for all of you to give your opinion on vendors. I'll be reviewing this thread for feedback. And if I see good threads going down a wrong path, I will also be moving offending posts here so people can continue those discussions outside of the main thread. thanks! MMS

Is It True That 90% of Traders Never Make a Dime!
MadMarketScientist replied to blindfingers's topic in Beginners Forum
Hi, I think the we need to clarify what 'make a mistake' means. Most people on this thread who are talking about making mistakes everyday are speaking about 'getting stopped out of a trade', is that right? If that is the case, then yes you will most definitely 'make mistakes' everyday. But according to steve46, getting stopped out is not a mistake, its just the natural course of trading. An example of a mistake would be screwing up your risk management and taking a loss bigger than you should have. If that is the case, then I agree with steve46, you better not be making mistakes everyday! So the answer depends on your definition of 'make a mistake' ... what is everyone's definition of it? thx MMS -
