  1. try trading real time in a range bound market with an moving average of any length and u will know? Std deviations are good for statistics and it has its use in backtesting, but then one has to use it wisely, and again the fat tails is another issue, std gaussian/bell curve does fit nicely here.
  2. William J. O'Neil is more famous for CANSLIM method, one can search for it and get tons of related article/data on it. here is an bird's eye view...The Greatest Investors: William J. O'Neil as per today's standards he is a long term investor IMO.

  4. Well at the first place should I ask or shouldn't I? anyway its a very trivial question.... Dbphoenix and other market wizards, how much have you gained from the markets(consistently trading for a living ) by trading the method by Wyckoff? just curious, no debates from my side, just plain curious.
  5. First if one wants to relocate outside his own house/work area, the issue of strategy code being plagiarized arises, which can be avoided by encrypting the strategy code proper leaving the execution part open, well co-locating ones server with the exchanges has its advantages like reducing the latency , but then would the cost associated would be appropriate for an individual non-institutional type trader? anyway , the whole process is about reliability rather than cost alone. And yes the edge of one's system with all the positive expectancy etc, would take care of all the costs in due course. So if the system is a profitable one anything can be worked out. And still baby sitting would be required at times with the full auto mode.
  6. hi picker304, can u give your setup for the Aroon Indicator/Oscillator ? well, Developed by Tushar Chande in 1995, Aroon is an indicator system that determines whether a stock is trending or not and how strong the trend is. "Aroon" means "Dawn's Early Light" in Sanskrit. :)The Aroon indicators measure the number of periods since price recorded an x-day high or low. imo its a lagging one, if you can post some of your back tests then it would be nice.
