By accident I hit the scroll down for that forum across the street (now deleted). Haven't been there in months, and will never go back to that kiddie land, but I saw that Traderzones is still sucking Baron's dick to make a living, nice.

Sometimes I have things to say but need to hold back because I don't want my rants to pollute the home page. As such, I started a Rubber Room in the Private Section. Anyone who wants in is invited.

I haven't read through all the posts in this thread, but in my opinion you should know what is the lowest starting amount based on your system. For me, I hit between 50% and 60% and I know this because of my trading data, not backtested data. As with any system, the risk of ruin is highest at the starting gate, so I would give yourself enough room to place at least five trades (unless you have a much higher win rate), with the 5th starting at a balance of around $510 if your margin is $500. I know that at some point I will run off a few losers in a row, so this takes into account the chance that it may happen at the start. While my balance is much greater than the $1,000, this is not different than the way I trade everyday. Each time I up the number of contracts I trade, I make sure that always eat 5 losses in a row before I am required downsize due to margin. So to answer the question, if your average loss is around $100-$150 per contract, then yes, you can easily start with around $1,000. At the same time, if you do not use sound money management, you will eventually get crushed. I move cash from my trading account to my bank account each time I double, and I maintain a cash reserve in order to post up more cash for those times when I experience a number of losses in a row which happens a few times a year.

I've been using dailyfx.com but I am getting more and more unhappy with the accuracy of its schedule. News releases unexpectedly change times or even days. I wake up at 4:00 only to find the news was at 3:00. I trade one of my accounts with another person, and he is getting pissed since i am missing trades, as I am the night shift. So, is there a comprehensive calendar out there that I can print off on Friday for the following week and won't have to constantly check for changes? Even just the prior day would work too. I would think that the majority of releases never change times, but I may be wrong.

I did scale back last night, but I think my broker is akin to a drug dealer. Last night all my margins got cut in half for some reason. I think he wants the rest of my money.

Man, I really got my ass kicked the past 24 hours. Doubled my contracts traded to my most ever earlier in the week, then today decided to completely abandon the system that got me here, a system that I have no problems with. I always used stops, except today for some reason. In fact, I decided to cancel my stops when the price approached and let my losers run, and did they ever. Biggest one day loss ever for me, but the best of all is, had I just used my system I would have had a good day. The Yen really took me for a ride, and speaking of which, please deleate that "cars" thread as I may no longer have one. I was in long, after I let it pass my stop by about 20 points, I completed ignored my confirmation to get in short and stayed long. It didn't end up like I hoped. Anyway, back at it tonight, the booze should calm me down by then.

That's good to know. Really considering this system, but if I have more negative trading days like I had yesterday I'll be eating a lot of bologna for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I guess the only downfall of previous models was just about an hour of life when unplugged, but that wouldn't be a problem for me. At that price I would like to give it a test run first.

How Many Contracts Have You Traded on Currency Futures?
sicktrader replied to sicktrader's topic in Futures
Thanks. Not worried about slippage, I am usually in it for somewhere between 15 and 40 points. However, I suppose I am worried about unloading at say a double top, and only half of my contracts get unloaded and I take a bath on the others. That doesn't fit well into my plan. It is good to know though that the liquidity is there. Thanks for the heads up. -
While pondering my move to forex, I was wondering if I could execute 40 contracts on currency futures, I suppose I'll find out this week, but jumping from 20 to 40 I am not sure if I'll face some unknown problems. I hate unknown problems. What is the the most you have traded, or have witnessed others on currency futures? Thanks.

I am going to be travelling quite a bit (inside US) during the summer and I am in the market for a good laptop trading setup. Not much in the know on what is out there and what is best for trading. Not even sure what a good setup will cost, but I am hoping that about 5k will sufficient. Last thing I want to do is spend a lot of cash and later find out I didn't buy the right equipment. Any help would be appreciated.

It may be better to ask for a %'age of bankroll as opposed to $ amount. There are many here who win or lose many more times than those amounts on a single trade, and would rather not discuss those figures. As for myself, in my early and much more alcoholic days I have lost about 90% of my bankroll a few times. Back then if I would lose three in row I would get pretty pissed off and just flip a coin and let my last trade run. That never once worked in my favor. In a strange way I miss those days because every time I took some time off, I modified my system and came back stronger. Never would have gotten to the point where I am without that downtime. Finally, I fall into the category with most other gamblers where I can easily remember my worst losses easier than my best winners.

What type of help are you and your team looking for? Offsite I charge $350/hour. Could probably get you guys back on track, send me a PM. -
Went pretty large on the colts last week at -5 and the money line, but that was before Freeney got hurt, and now Wayne may have some issues. After some deliberation, I put an equal amount on the under. Could get absolutely crushed, but I don't expect that to happen. The majority of sharps and squares are betting the same side, which would be the colts. When this has happened in the past it has been good for the books. Hopefully the under comes in. Should be an interesting game.

I prefer to trade the news, and trade the currency from which the news is reported. Usually a lot of movement during the first 30 minutes or so. Normally have about 10 trades a day, which is good for me.

Any Gambling/Sports Discussion At This Place?
sicktrader replied to sicktrader's topic in General Discussion
Heard a few stories of this type of software, in fact, Billy Walters, the most successful handicapper today runs one and does the "Computer Group" syndicate. Myself and few friends developed a robot to scalp live betting programs, it worked well for a few years. Then the offshore gambling industry went to shit, companies became no pay or slow play, so we had to stop. That was years ago, and actually was the reason I stepped into the trading arena. -

I don't think that the Saints are anything special. I put down a considerable amout on the Colts ealry last week, though I am concerned a bit now with the Freeney injury. That is a massive loss, and Pittsburgh proved this year that a defense can go from from one of the best ever to a trainwreck with the loss of a one-of-a-kind player. Still think the Colts will win, but not sure about the cover. -

I would actually like to see Clevland have a decent team, some of the rowdiest games I have ever been to were Steelers/Browns when the Browns were good. Although, considering the last time they had back to back winning records was over 20 years ago, I am a bit older and having trouble remembering those days. In regard to OSU, I would like to see Pryor become a top qb. I think he has the skills, but can't figure out if it's the system or his brain that is holding him back.
