since that other thread got too long and knowing human nature, its a slim chance anyone will read the whole damn thing. I am interested in getting one of those video cards but not at retail price. eBay has 3 sellers of bulk orders. 5 video cards. eBay.ca: NEW 100505131 FireMV 2400 PCI 128M QUAD bulk 100-505131 (item 110093152009 end time 18-Mar-07 16:34:16 EDT) What I had in mind was anyone interested in upgrading their system or building a new one and already shopping around for a quad output card to consider this proposal. one of us gets the 5 cards and pays the shipper and ships the rest to who ever wants one for about the same price individually plus shipping. the options can either be: relist the product on ebay (if you are concerned about fraud) or just do a direct payment via paypal or some other avenue.

FireMV comes in both bus formats, PCI and PCIe. that adapter sounds to me like a digital to analog adpater. all depends on your monitors and their input format and which output from your video card. they have ones are are analog to digital. this is why it may be so intimidating shopping for a computer. funny how a video card question has turned into a computer component topic. :p

dual channel ram is like a 2 lane road where traffic may flow both directions, information processing is speed up, and it will process as fast as your CPU permits. regular ram is like a 1 lane road, traffic needs to clear before the other way may move forward, so a system running on regular ram will be slower. ram is your computers short term memory, all will be lost once the power is turned off. Tradestation does not us the CPU once the program is running, just are start up, I think all the indicator crunching and what not is done through the ram. btw, how are you running the 2 video card setup? in the past I tried to run an AGP and a PCI video card without success and have not even bothered trying that again. If you are doing that and working fine, I just might get the FireMV 2400 PCI and upgrade my ram to 2 GB.
-
ASUSTeK Computer Inc. your board does support dual channel, but not DDR2. I use something similar, its a p4p800 something.

Sorting out differences in video cards found it online from google search. yeah, there is lots to putting together a computer system for your specific task. I mean, what you are doing, an off the shelf, upgrade some parts will not do, in my opinion, but for best performance, it is best to just build a system to meet your requirements. I am doing alot more research this time round for my trading computer system, do it once and thats it for another 10 years or so.

PCIe is the new replacement for APG so you won't see any new AGP cards. What are the benefits, I have no clue. I happen to like Asus. :p Any idea which motherboard you have? you can check Asus site for product info to see if it will support dual channel, but if I can recall, dual channel only came out these past couple of years, still new technology. Sounds like you need a complete upgrade. If you've never built a computer from scratch before, its not that hard, just remember to ground yourself and make sure no static electricity transmit to your components. I think I fried a motherboard like that ignorantly.
-
hehe, forgiven. have you thought about using dual channel ram, only thing is your motherboard must be able to support it, other wise you putting in premium fuel in a 4 cyclinder econo car. what you have here is a "bottleneck" affect. The tough part is figuring out which component is causing the back log. there are programs out there for diagnostic. I had to stop and think for a moment when I was sending an email to brother-in-law who has a friend that works at ATI. It just might be your ram since video editing is almost like a game, you want that dual channel ram to work for you. just a thought. I think one is called cpu-z, but I figure that techy site would have more knowledgable people then us traders. :p
-
oh just in case if you have no clue how dual channel operates, from what I read it acts like a two lane road, so data can be flow both ways at the same time, which speeds up processing. normal ram is a like a one lane road, traffic must clear before more transferring may happen. mainly used for gaming from what I read.

I see, I was about to say 256 bit is more for watching stuff or games because we only need so much speed but you are also recording. well we all have our own reasons to get this and that, but keep us informed. You said you currently use a 64 bit card and the tape action is "choppy"? here's my arguement, there will always be some lag from what you see, execute and get filled. Unless you get a direct connection to the exchanges server and have a broker that has some connection as well, there will be a lag. heck, have you ever traded anything with a pit involved? getting a reported fill under 1 minute was considered fast, namely SP500. fast market, you're looking upwards of 10-20 minutes and you have to bug the broker to get your fill. Oh I remember those days.
-
bit what??? please explain, I'm not very techno inclined so the bit rate is what? 128 mb DDR is for what purpose? thanks I figure ATI designed the card in mind for traders so they have their reasons for using 32 bit or what ever that number was compared to larger amount.

eBay.ca: NEW 100505131 FireMV 2400 PCI 128M QUAD bulk 100-505131 (item 110093152009 end time 18-Mar-07 16:34:16 EDT) even cheaper. the way I was thinking on making this transaction if anyone else is interested in getting a quad output card for cheap was relist it on ebay with "buy it now", but send an email or arrange a predetermined time for interested buyers to scoop it up at "cost" when it gets listed. that way no one has to be afraid of fraud and money may be sent via paypal or some other sort.

lost out on my second attempt by $1.00 at the last second, bidding "bot" I assume.

eBay.ca: ATI FireMV 2400 PCI 128M QUAD bulk 100-505131 (item 320084430201 end time 21-Mar-07 10:22:59 EDT) anyone interested if one of these? bulk order of 5 ATI FireMV 2400 PCI quad output video card. works out to be $85.50 USD per card before shipping.
-
ha, looks like we're in the same boat, but I've got my eyes on the ATI FireMV 2400 PCI BUS Quad 128MB Display Adapter. please don't outbid me. :p I lost out by $0.87 from my first attempt.

I'm looking to build a system just for trading running off XP pro. Here are some components I have looked at already: Intel Pentium 4 631, 3.0 GHz, 2MB L2, 800 MHz FSB, Socket LGA775, EM64T, HT Technology (Retail Box) Asus P5L-MX Socket 775 Intel 945G + ICH7 Chipset Dual-Channel DDR2 533/667 Intergrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 5.1 Channel Intel High Definition Audio Gigabit Lan PCI-Express Graphics Slot Support Core 2 Duo Processor Micro-ATX Western Digital Caviar EIDE (WD800JB) 80GB ATA-100 7200RPM 8MB Buffer ATI FireMV 2400 PCI 128MB DDR DVI PCI Graphics Adapter here's where I have a minor problem, do I go with: OCZ (OCZ26672048ELGEGXT-K) DDR2 PC2-5400 667MHz EL Gold Edition 2GB (2X1024MB) Dual Channel Kit or Kingston ValueRAM DDR2-667 2GB Kit (2 X 1024MB) PC-5300 (KVR667D2N5K2/2G) or Kingmax 2GB Kit (2x1024MB) PC5300 DDR2 667MHz 240-pin Unbuffered DIMM w/Heat Sink My question is, do I really need dual channel ram to run Tradestation with 4 desktops?

Its an intangible skill in my opinion. If you've ever had a losing trade get out of hand, you'll know what he's talking about. If you've never had one trade get out of hand, you'll never understand what one goes through mentally.

He sees the light, sort off.

What the heck is that I keep hearing about an RSS feed. I know its something internet related, I see that little orange symbol with "sound" waved coming from the white dot. Bring me up to speed with this techno stuff. heck for crying out loud, I am still using smoke signals to contact people. :p

damn, I have too many to list. But those two in my signature are my favourite.

Jason Jankovsky is the man! Mark Douglas' stuff is great as well! JAJ has three great CBOT webinars. its scary to hear JAJ took 10 years to understand this stuff. Just survive the learning process everyone the end of the tunnel is your pot of gold.

TS is out to get you Nasdaq. jk, I had no problems when I logged in at 1000h -
Since I am not the developer of the personality assessment, I can only speak from my own personal experiance. I, try to use stuff like market relationships to understand what is going on, in other words, market internals if you trade index futures, John Murphy's Intermarket Technical Analysis would give you some ideas and direction to look at, but in the end, supply and demand is king. N, just trust your judgement when time comes, believe in your own observations over time, document things that catch your attention to a trade set-up and when it "repeats" go with it and manage your trade. T, have a clear exit strategy in place, fixed exit levels from your entry, if you have the capital to trade multiple contracts/shares, only the last holding should you use your discretion if you are adventurous. example, 2 lot multiples, mechanical exit at -10 stop and +10 profit, last 1 lot, up to you, some trade in thirds, some exit in 50%, 25%, 25%, there are many ways to scale out. J, trying using pivots or market profile since they are predetermined levels that are known before the start of the trading day, but this is Soul's specialty, maybe he can explain how he uses those methods that work for him since he has set-ups and a trading plan for those methods.

The one beef I have with TS's matrix is the drop down menu for market orders. I've already made one entry mistake using it, I hastly clicked the buy button instead of sell. *shrugs shoulders* what can I do other than don't make the same mistake twice, the ironic part was I was telling myself before hand NOT to click the buy button when there was a potential sell signal happening. but it did take some time to get used to it and I like it. Any matrix is good when you have multiple exit orders, no mental math, just click and drag to your new price. Infinity has an awesome platform or would say Transact has an awesome in which can be opened through Infinity. They have seperate buy and sell buttons to click on, flatten position and reverse position button. Once you get used to the matrix, there is a good possibilty you won;t go back to other forms of order entry.

I believe each time I rub my belly and tap my head before a trade, it will work out, but if I tap my head and rub my belly, my stop will be taken out.
