YM suggests completion of a sequence at 09:54 but I fail to see how I should "see" a sequence completing on the ES at 09:55. At that time I have not had increasing B for the 2B.

Is this the B2B2R2B to which you refer?

Unfortunately, no. Would you be kind enough to point it out? Thanks

Or perhaps, more logically:

Is this what you understand the gaussians should look like? If not, would you please post you chart. Thanks

I don't know why Jack started referring to tapes as "bbt's". Bars building tapes?? Correction - Building Block Tapes. It is unfortunate that this thread has never fully addressed the process of forming tapes and traverses. As I understand it, all tapes begin with 2 bars, unless the 2nd bar is a flaw, in which case we wait for a bo of the 2nd bar in order to draw the RTL and LTL. Of course, if the 3rd bar high and low also fall inside the high and low of the 1st bar then we have a lateral tape. Having constructed our 2 or 3 bar tape, the tape continues until price closes outside the tape RTL, bearing in mind that the RTL is fanned as and when necessary to include all of the price action as long as price continues to close inside our tape. After we get our first close outside our initial tape, we can then begin to construct our next tape. The RTL bo of the 2nd tape forms the pt3 of our new Traverse, assuming that the the first tape began at pt1. This idea of 3 tapes forming a "Traverse" goes back to the beginning of the first Spyder journal on ET. However, we are reminded in this thread that it is the volume sequence that defines the presence of a Traverse so the above description cannot be considered complete unless we observe the mandatory b2b2r2b or r2r2b2r. It might also be worth mentioning that Spyder explained at the NY meeting that the absolute minimum number of bars for a Traverse is 5. Three bars to give us our "b2b", a 4th bar to give us "2r", and the 5th to give us our "2b" and sequence completion, and there MUST be a close outside each tape RTL in order to construct a Traverse. My apologies if this is going over old ground but I suspect it might be of use to someone who is more confused than myself, and it might even shed some light on my misuderstanding if someone wishes to correct this.

Thank you for your suggestion. How am I supposed to know which needs adjustment? How is one supposed to know where each fractal level begins?

Yes, that was spyder's convention a while back. However, it appears to me that one man's "traverse / channel" can easily be considered another man's "tape / traverse" on the same chart. It all depends upon perspective and the context that one begins with at the open..

I must be mistaken because I was under the impression that gaussians were not drawn exclusively from volume. See #143 "The Gaussians must match the trend lines." Perhaps you could help me by explaining how I should do this if the price pane is covered up? TIA

With the huge variety in gaussian interpretation, some guidance to put us all on the same page would be gratefully received. Or even perhaps some feedback as to why certain interpretations are incorrect.

It is not possible to have b2b2r2b followed immediately by b2b2r2b on the same fractal.

An R2R cannot immediately follow a B2B on the same fractal. Likewise, a B2B cannot immediately follow an R2R on the same fractal. The mandatory sequence is B2B2R2B or R2R2B2R on every fractal - no shortcuts, no incomplete sequences, on any fractal.

Your chart shows: 09:45 to 10:10 as B2B 10:10 to 10:45 as R2R 10:45 to 11:50 as B2B This cannot be a valid sequence.

Modified chart below.... "Accurately drawn trend lines in a chart Price Pane represent ‘containers’ of trend on the three trading fractals. We represent the fastest trading fractal using skinny lines (described as ‘tapes’) which, in turn, build the next slower fractal (represented by ‘medium’ weight lines) – known as a Traverse. These Medium fast trends (Traverses) build the slowest fractal (thick line weight) known as a ‘channel.’"...Spyder It appears now that some are using "skinny tapes" to form "fat tapes" and "fat tapes" to form "even fatter tapes" etc etc. It is no wonder that many here are utterly confused with the terminology.

With the greatest of respect, referring me to previous posts that I have read 100 times does not help. When someone remains unable to understand something it is often beneficial to offer an explanation from a different perspective or even, dare I say it, an annotated illustration. Responses of the nature "it's all been posted here before" serve only to frustrate.

With Spyder's definition of tapes on page 1, post #5, could someone PLEASE explain how on earth the blue trendline could be considered a "tape" and the green trendline a "traverse"??

It is self evident from all of the charts being posted here that misunderstanding and interpretation are rife, even from those that attended the NY meeting. A walk through of just a few days of real charts with a detailed explanation of how and why gaussians are drawn on 3 fractal levels would be worth a thousand posts like the above……

Then what is the point of drawing the gaussian?? And how is one supposed to track the b2b2r2b sequence at L1?

If we have a b2b2r2b gaussian sequence on every fractal, could someone please explain where is the b2b between p1 and p2 of the tapes illustrated?

It is my understanding that all laterals represent non-dominant movement. Could you please explain how you see dom and non dom lats? TIA

An amusing analogy but not entirely correct. Sesame Street actually points out the correct answer. To set tasks and never give an explanation is no way to achieve transference.

This is too vague. Since "context" has never been defined, this is also too vague. NR Comparison attached ftp differentiation.xls

Drawing "correct" gaussians continues to be a headache. Unsure as to when this morning's B2B actually ended (i.e. we have arrived at p2). Now thinking that maybe 11:20 is the real p2. Unsure what to do regarding the gaussians at any level through the lat from 11:20. I think a gaussian lesson or two is in order.
