My sim diary Long: 535 Short: -584 Net Profit: -49 I was caught in the early AM volatility when I had all my shorts..They all reversed and rallied against me. My Long play hedge still couldn't protect me.
-
Apr/7/10 Sim results --------------- Got nicely chopped. Short Stocks (8 trades): 68$ Long Trades (3 Trades): -94.4 Net Profit: -26.4 Nothing really to write about..May be don't trade when Bernanke says anything.

I wish I could post charts, but I am trying program trading with many positions. So it's hard..but I did good in the SIM land.. Short (took 2 short positions), Got stopped out: -75$ Long position (4 trades eminis): 450$ Net Profit for day: 375$ I will have to keep sim trading live to build confidence into my system.

April/5/2010 : Sim trading results.. I had many problems with my system (not mine, but my broker's simulated trading just hung and didn't execute market orders). IB's simulated trading time and again has such issues. I meddled with it manually while the auto was running, so it was messy in the books. But I am going to post what the auto could have/should have done based on my entry logs for some of the positions (little bit of cheating, still I am happy with my entries). Basically I entered long reversal with TF emini while my shorts got stopped out. --------------- LONG: 520 SHORT: -226 NET: 294$ -----------------------------------

Apr/1/2010 ----- I finally got my long plays ready..Still I need to work on entries, but it is in my paper trading system. So some marginal progress. -------------------- -96 -60 -53 -35 -33 -25 54 55 55 ----------------------------- -138$ (Bearish Stocks) -------------------------------- 240-180 (Long eminis) = 60$ Net Profit For day = -78$ ----------------------------
-
My Sim results ----------- -9 5 8 29 -27 -22 -95 -66 -------------- Net Profit = -177$ Problem was I went all short and market reversed and took my stops. Note to self: Need to get my long plays going. Still working on my long signals.

Sorry to see your losses, but hang in there Dinero. Can you backtest with sim for those loss days and see if the entries/exit were same ? May be some emotional element caught you while being live.

I second that! I also find these posts motivating..Bathrobe - Stick around please

I plan to post my paper trading results. MySim Results (Mar/30) ----------------------------- -28 -16 -11 -7 -6 -5 21 51 53 62 ---------------- Profit = 187 Loss = -73 Net = 114 ------------------------------ I still need to fix few things with my system. For some reason, the positions were not flattended by end of day. Seems to be a Interactive Broker issue (may be paper trade only issue) where it doesn't take MOC orders. So I assume Close price of stocks to be my closing trade. I'd probably implement my own engine to flatten if IB doesn't do it.

Jason - You may remember me from another board..I recently came across this thread and started following religiously. Sorry to see you leave, but I understand. Your posts have been greatly motivating me to keep working on my trading system. Dinero - Congrats on going live and all the best! I have my sim trading mostly ready..Will start posting my results soon. I feel this thread is an awesome thread to see how seasoned traders do. Most importantly, watching their drawdowns and their losses and how they spring back with bigger gains is quite helpful.

Hello all I just bumped into this forum and am kicking myself for not checking this earlier. There is so much TA info for a novice like me! Quick question - I see Wyckoff methods mostly discussed on Futures trading..Can those with more knowledge tell if they have experimented with stocks as well ? Probably a dumb question since price/volume action should be similar - but thought someone could provide pointers.. Thanks a bunch momop
