Many thks Db for the chart and explanation. I had one of the levels right the S level but had the R level wrong. More importantly my whole thought process was wrong compared to what you described. That is experience on your part and thanks for sharing it. Need more work on my end. However, the S/R levels need to be paid attention to and how the P/A behaves at these levels. Regards Pat

That is quite right gringo... My comment was based on Price/ Vol histogram and it was my understanding that very old levels are not relevant but when the price drops thru near by levels it may look for those previous levels. Last Fri drop was one of those days where all the nearby levels were broken and my only good act on Fri was not to look for S level to hold ... Thus I did not attempt any L trade but as my post in the 90 min forum which led to my frustration of missing the earlier S .. Db posted a chart and comments along with it ..and gave me something to think about and how he interprets the P/A it was great help for me. I need to adjust my smaller tf chart of 5T to something bigger so it does not become distraction during the Live session. May be someone has tried some other small tf and found it helpful. Look forward to go thru this forum in future. Thank you Regards Pat

Db I read the 90 mins trading thread last 3 weeks and found it valuable. I find the idea of following the price action [P/A] without any indicators better way to understand what the buyers/sellers are doing. Reading thru that forum made sense to me and what thot process that you and others posted taking place in live trading. The simple act of looking at few SL/DL, hinges, ranges plus the S/R is suffcient to understand the PA. I will look at the PA action without the trades next week and also pst my S/R levels from htf charts. Of course one can plot many S/R levels and so many lines that one will be hit. It seems to me S/R going back 2 days is sufficient plus the pre-mkt TR on the day of trading. I will mark up the charts and S/R. Hope I can find a way to post them. Meanwhile I will check the Trading in Foresight. Thank you again for taking the time to post comments. Regards Pat

Many thks Db. I saw your post and link to this forum. I read your comments and the explanation on the chart. Along with your thoughts/comments as to price behavior on the chart. I see now what to look for (still a lot of learning to do) & think about the price behavior. Taking trades bring another dimension in the picture and will watch the next few days to see the 1m chart and observe. Plot the S/R levels and see how price behaves at these locations. btw what is C notch that you refered to? I do look at 5-10t chart along with the 1m chart but find it more distracting as it moves too fast/quick! may be look at higher tick chart for some nuaces to the price with in 1m charts . I will look thru this forum now. Thank you for posting the chart for Fri. Just to check my S/R levels - Do you post these in Wyckoff forum? Warm Regards Pat

Fri was just a frustrating day ..missed the S at the R level and then tried to get entry but just cud not pull the trigger as price fell so fast ..did not want to chase but yesterday was one of those days even if one chased they cud make $$. Was looking back over the 1m chart and cud see some potential 1 or 2 places to enter but while during the Live session it just dazed me how quickly the price fell. Would appreciate if someone cud comment or how they traded the day this Fri 19, 2012. Thank you. Pat

Thank you Skies for this important aspect of trading and understanding it. Hope you will expand more on this subject and get valuable comments/explanations from others on this forum. I hope that those who will comment -ve or see no value stay away. One Q on speed of Price action . many times such an action is so directional that getting an entry is difficult ..and it happens so fast over a period of 15-20 -30 mins that it becomes a matter of faith to pull the trigger and hope for the best ... once the move is over there will be some pull-back but by then the entry is a bit iffy and reward way too small. Would appreciate your thoughts on such an intense P/A ... Thank you Pat

Shooly see your point on S/R on higher timeframes (htf) and use of BB ... one thing I find hard to tackle is the entry looking at htf say 10m chart you posted on TF... Do you use small tf to get the entry once you see the setup on htf? If so what tf you use for entry on TF? TF is so volatile that a stop of over 1.5 to 2 is needed to take care of the noise in this instrument. What tf do you use to look at S/R areas for TF? Thank you.

Great post Tradewinds ... Something to think about.... Thanks.

Hope Volttrader comes back and posts his thots. Unfortunately, there are many whose sole purpose is to criticize others rathen than ask Q and learn.. What a pity.

Many comments by others and Wahshan has not evern posted any charts or methodology what the setup is like? may be he is spooked by the -ve comments bu others ... Pl give the guy a chance to explain his setups. Some charts will help to see what he looks for in ES.. Pat

Thanks ake and JMC for the charts and examples of CL trades. I currently looking at TF and use .9 fixed stop. I try to be very careful on Tf but JMC your setup has merits and I will continue to trade the 100ema. So far limited success as someone pointed out the virtue of patience in setups. Regards pat

Hi ...I recently discovered this topic and was very intrigued by it. Going thru the tutorials and videos that jper posted. It has been almost 3-4 years since this discussion was started. Can someone pl post their experince trading this setups and what worked and any nuances to it, Jper did a very good job on his presentation. I will appreciate any input from those who have been using it for the last 2-3 years. Thank you Regards Pat

The only negative was that the webinars were all at 11:30pm on my side. It made it a bit difficult to stay focused and alert, but the recordings solved that. Pipsqueak Hi Could you pl post the link where the webnars are located ... very interesting discussion. Thank you Pat

Thanks estrader...i do watch NQ TF and sometimes oil. TF can be deadly if entry is not good stops can be taken out in a hurry. NQ may be a good choice and I will look at it this coming week. CL is good and does trend well..again it is not for the faint hearted. Regards Pat

Good advice. I trade ES and it can be tuff to trade but since it moves slow moast of the times, I can get out quick if I see it is not going in the direction I was looking for. I never add to losers so a small loss is ok with me. estrader Could you pl espouse your thots on the reason for not trading ES and what did you move to in terms of trading. Thank you Pat

Thks passion for posting charts. Also pl explain your setup and how you read the setup on the chart based on indicators or price action. Refer to the setup Phantom provided. He showed what he looks for and how he reads it. Many others have also provided some insight into reading the setup on the chart. Is there some kind of software that charts uses to put those markers? Is this a properitary software? Cheers Pat

I am curious that JMC and others have posted charts for this setup on 1m timeframe ...see the previous posts ...However, it seems that on 5m chart one must have some logical stop as it will be wider than on a 1m chart? Is that a fair statement? Looking back on the 5m chart posted I know JMC and others keep a tight stop. Looking back on the 5m chart ...the Shorts on the chart worked looking back on the left side of the chart ... Pl let us know what stop are you using if any and how did you arrive at that stop. Thank you for posting the chart. Pat

Great post ...been thru that but was able to stay humble and mkt is always right just need to be in synch with it .. Pat

Thks ake for the chart. Josh your trades on Cl are of big help. I hesitate to trade CL cuz of volatlity in it and spikes ..but I want to try it on ES and possibly on TF. Do you watch other time frame charts to see the big picture (context as some one pointed out in one fo the posts) ... say 5m or 15m to see the trend OR simple the setup on 1m. Do you trade anything else beside CL? I like the simplicity of the setup ..no indicators just the retest of the price to this MA. Thank you all for the charts.

ake nice chart and setup ..Just curious Is what timeframe the chart is and what instrument ? The ma is 20 ema? Also nice chart JMC still working to get the entries right ...but this gives a good setup .. Pat

Thanks JMC for the charts ...I will watch again this setup ...one need to be careful I was watching ES on this setup ..and took some heat ...Is there any nuance or something else you look for the entry? I currently looking at ES but will start looking at TF too...and see what else I can use for the entry ..What stop do you usde on TF if any? Thank you
