It's coming, you can just feel it.

fs - the process is rather simple. Available futures accounts to get at a heavily discounted price. Take over all accounts immediately vs. hoping to get some new accounts when people look for a new broker. The same reason why JPM bought Bear Stearns, just on a small, micro scale. Could JPM have simply waited and tried to get that business? Sure. But if you buy it, you got it. Again, same premise just on a much smaller scale. Done for illustration purposes.

Leave it to FS to try and dig something up on OEC. Not sure if FS is pissed at me b/c I put him in his place (as did others) or what. But, for your viewing pleasure, here is the response from OEC: In other words, OEC CAME TO SAVE THE FUTURES ACCOUNTS AND ASSETS BEHIND THOSE ACCOUNTS. If you actually took the time to read the entire release AND understood that NFA was involved in this, you would understand how this process actually worked. Instead, you attempt to discredit OEC simply due to your lack of knowledge. Make sure to send your Thank You note FS to the wonderful team at OEC.

Looks like I got a little lucky here - after finding the part to replace I decided to give it another try with the canned air and something worked b/c now it's running fine. There must have been a small enough buildup of dust to cause it to overheat but small enough that I did not see it. Running like a champ once again. I know what part to change out if it does happen again though.

My guess is that James_gsx and Hlm are too busy trading.

But you fail to read my entire post young grasshopper. CONTEXT, CONTEXT, CONTEXT. The context of that spinner is what I posted. NOT PLAY 'FIND A SHAPE' WHICH IS WHAT YOU ARE SUGGESTING HERE. Good luck!

That is a combo - candle/WRB type analysis. You guys can translate it into your own lingo. Bottom line is that there was no follow through after your WRB on your chart. As I've mentioned previously about WRB's - they show a TEMPORARY imbalance between the bulls and bears. That imbalance WILL come back into harmony sooner or later. The very next candle that printed - a spinning top on low volume - gave a hint that that up move may have been short lived.

You got me hlm. I never understood that at all. Spend the $5k or $10k and get it done right the first time. Makes you wonder why they can't <afford to> do that.

That's what I was thinking MC. It's 3 yrs old and I'm not going to spend hundreds to fix something when a brand new is about the same. She doesn't need much, so a $500 or so laptop would be plenty.

Here's the fan/heatsink part if that helps at all. If that needs replaced, looks like something I could do.

My girlfriend's laptop this past week started shutting itself down with no warning. Today I finally had time to look at it and after running for maybe 5 minutes, the bottom of the thing was very hot - in particular, where the fan is located. I unscrewed the cover and used some compressed air to clean, but no luck. I am all over google, but thought with our tech guys here someone might be able to suggest what to do. First, what can I do here before taking to a shop? Second, if it is the fan, what should that cost to replace for parts and labor? Third, if I can't fix on my own, is it even worth spending the money to repair? The laptop is a Gateway. Here's a link to the product page. Thanks!

I got an email back from Brett with this explaining how to do in Excel: Ummm... ok..... Thanks to thrunner for the TS code! I will try in MC tomorrow. I would also like to get the Excel sheet working as well for anyone that can help figure this '5 minute' project out... THANKS
-
th - thanks!! Can you post the EL that goes with this that you mentioned? I have MultiCharts and can import into that. Thanks! Any other takers?

I am trying to get my Excel to mimic this post from Brett Steenbarger but have been unable to. I was hoping some our programming experts might be able to help. The programming part needed is: He says a matter of minutes to create... Guess that depends on how much Excel you know. Any help would be appreciated as always.

Review of TraderFeed with Brett Steenbarger

No big deal, thought there might have been an issue that could have been fixed. Not much you can do if the DNS is not working. LOL -
There you go. 2 hammers on the daily. I would have liked it to come down a little more actually but nice hammers on the daily *near* my support level.

...and a lot of inconsiderate people as well. different forums have different attitudes and camaraderie fs. If TL is not for you, you'll love elitetrader.

link does not work for me. -
Thanks to this thread, I started going through some of Brett's blog entries again. I wanted to put a review so that anyone that searches in the future can find this. In summary, Brett's blog, books, etc are just phenomenal. I have never seen a blog that just gives away so much information. He could easily charge a fee for what he gives to the trading community. And I would gladly pay it. As many know here, I am very cautious about recommending anything b/c I realize it's my <online> reputation behind it. And to be honest, I value my online rep, esp here at TL. I can't possibly go into the details of what Brett's blog offers, so I will say this - If you are a new trader, you'd be better off spending your TIME on his blog vs. paying a shady vendor. You'd come out so far ahead of the curve. The catch is that it requires your TIME commitment. And if you are a seasoned trader, there are some really good posts on the blog that could help your trading, even if just a tad. Brett's blog: http://traderfeed.blogspot.com/ Brett's books on Amazon (I highly recommend!): ENHANCING TRADER PERFORMANCE PSYCHOLOGY OF TRADING SFO SERIES ON PSYCHOLOGY Note - Brett has a piece in this book. This is not one of his own. And for anyone interested, there are a few other books, not trading related: The Art and Science of Brief Psychotherapies The Essential Guide to Group Practice in Mental Health

SPY Opening Range Volume Vs Days Range
brownsfan019 replied to darthtrader's topic in Technical Analysis
darth - good stuff on Brett's blog about this topic. I have entered number crunching mode and will let you know what I find. For me, the value is using the first 15-30 minutes to gauge the odds of a trend vs. range day. Actually, that would be basically my version of the holy grail. It won't be perfect and I'm sure most here understand that, but if a simple analysis can provide an idea of the likelihood of the following movements, that's great! I would suggest anyone looking to improve on their trading to take the time to read Brett's blog. -
CME Group Announces New S&P MidCap 400 Fee Waivers

Actually, the very first post of this thread is in fact a duplicate. The thread did not become about Infinity until AFTER the first post, which was the duplicate.
