  1. So it's an overnight hold strategy? Post some screenshots as some of us are visual learners.
  2. Buck, That is the inherent issue with pivots - when you have big moves, those things can get pretty wide as you've seen. Likewise, when there is a tight range day, you find the pivots very close together as well. My suggestion is to either accept what they are or look at something else. What that something else is, that is up to you. DB's area is a good place to start and has some good stuff there. My thread about the 20 EMA has some ideas in there as well. Good luck!
  3. I'm a die-hard SnagIt user. I used to use paint and now I do so much on SnagIt it's not even funny for $49.95. You can easily screenshot, annotate the hell out of it, save if any format, do live screen recordings, etc. It's not just a basic screen capture. Version 9 just came out and it has a nice feel to it along w/ some much needed upgrades.
  4. Good point Steve. I'd like to see if Ben could create a thread that discusses ideas of how people use the information he presents to trade off of b/c it is rather difficult/confusing if you just jump into it w/o any initial guidance. Kind of like putting something together w/o the manual - might eventually get it, but could be a lot quicker using the manual.
  5. Ben - I don't want to invade Steve's thread, so if you are game, please start a thread for those interested to discuss things w/ you. I personally have never found any value w/ the squawk and would love to see how you can parlay your service into winning trades. That's not meant to be a dig but rather the speculation you probably hear or see, but the group here is very open-minded and I'm sure an educational thread on how to USE the squawk would be great.
  6. MC - tried the contacts thing twice now and each time couldn't get used to it. Don't know if it's the touching my eyes or when I rub them and the contacts fold over and stuck in the corner of my eye... but, just couldn't get used to it.
  7. Yeah, it's not a huge deal for me either as I can wear my glasses while playing golf or poker, and those are the 2 things consuming my time. I used to play football, basketball and softball but it's not very convenient to wear glasses in those sports, so have to wear those weird looking goggle things. Maybe that's why I've leaned towards playing poker more now recently... hmm...
  8. I've requested this and have been told it's on their list. The one issue w/ internals - tick, trin, etc. - is that is NYSE data and OEC (prior to the OX acquisition) was a futures exchange data firm. Maybe w/ the OX acquisition the internals could be pushed along.
  9. I'm the same way BF. As of now, I will not be doing this. While the stats may say 95% are happy, there is some serious question about this statistic. And even if it was 95% that means there are 5% that come out on the bad end of this. I've also read a few things of the 'newer' things coming post-Lasik and maybe that will be a little better. For now, glasses it is for me. I just can't risk being part of that 5% or whatever the real # is.
  10. Last I heard was just teach, but I don't follow his new stuff much anymore like I used to.
  11. http://www.visianinfo.com/html/what-is.html Interesting site for the 'other side of the coin' on these procedures.
  12. Like I said, never seen anyone able to do it in real-time with real money. I've read plenty on it.
  13. Got this email a few days ago.... Not sure if anyone would be interested, but putting it out there in case you are. I could see GSX considering it actually.
  14. Seriously considering it, just getting tired of these glasses. Any feedback?
  15. BG, At this point, nothing is going to replicate screen time. Maybe that seems futile to you, but it's the truth. Another book or course may just confuse you more or throw an unnecessary wrench into the mix. Here's my suggestion - if you are trading well and making money, ENJOY IT. After that, learn WHY you are making money NOW. As the above post says, things WILL change. The question then will be if your model can adapt and change w/ it. Right now is pretty volatile and big jumps are commonplace daily. There will come a time when the ES moves 4 pts the entire day. Can you sustain and make money then as well? If anything, buy a bunch of historical data and test your ideas out during all different periods of volatility. I think that would be a much better use of your time and money.
  16. Maybe too touchy of a subject, but I don't recall seeing any threads about the US Presidential race. I'll start us off w/ a great little youtube clip: Now, before it turns into a McCain v. Obama discussion, isn't that just sad? Here are people that can vote and they will vote Obama for whatever reason, b/c apparently they know NOTHING about what he actually stands for... Wow... You can laugh or be scared.
  17. No doubt. You'd be surprised how many come here or to ET expecting to become millionaires overnight. If that was the case here, I was providing a little dose of reality but it appears you get it. And that's good b/c some never will! Keep it up and good luck!
  18. I've often heard and read about 'reading the tape' but have never seen it practiced profitably. I'd love to see someone that could trade off of something so raw. At one point tape reading was a big thing on TL and that died a slow death. I'm guessing this is very difficult in application and maybe hunter can shed some light for everyone.
  19. Nice post hunter, it does clear some stuff up. I have one suggestion as a 'vet' on the forum circuit - post pictures. I've found many learn much more quickly seeing vs. reading. Just a suggestion. Depends how far you'd like to take the thread.
  20. I was not putting you down if that was directed to me. I was however just alerting you to the fact that this business takes years to conquer and your post mentioned working 'hours' at it. I was simply giving you some advice from someone that has been there that it takes more time than most anticipate, myself included.
  21. I know nothing about VSA but I am going to go out on a limb and say ANY method you may be looking at will take months and months and then years and years to master, esp VSA. Hours is just the tip of the iceberg. Good luck!
  22. BG - if you feel you got the hang of it, instead of spending $ with a vendor, why not give it a shot in real-time? Why prolong the inevitable? You'll learn real quick whether or not you got it.
  23. Great! That's all you need to know to trade?
  24. You can trade in any IRA, but you have to have a broker that offers it. Here's how it works with futures: 1) Open regular brokerage account 2) Then open a custodial IRA account at a firm that works w/ your broker 3) Trade away It sounds easy and is in theory. Sometimes getting the custodian to do their job is not always easy or quick. And, be prepared for extra fees, that's how the custodian makes their $. If it helps, Open ECry offers this feature, but there are other brokers that do it as well. Sometimes you just have to ask b/c it requires more work for everyone to do it, but it can be done!
  25. Yeah, why can't we ask? I believe he said don't ask. So you ask. :crap:
