hlm - neat idea, feel free to run w/ it. As I said in post #1, what the person posts or provides is up to them. Firewalker suggested posting the total pt gain vs. actual $. That's cool too, whatever works for you. Let me know if you get yours up and running so we can watch! As for the blog, I have no idea. Not sure how the software is setup so I'll have to poke around tomorrow unless someone that has used it before can suggest what to do. Attached are some books I would recommend. Having all that programming knowledge would be a tremendous start IMO. Now you'll need to see what kind of trading you like and then work on it. Keep in mind this could take years before you really start to get it, so don't give up. Some things you'll wan to consider: Can/will you go long and short, or just long Focus on a few stocks or create a scanner to go find stocks in play that day Will you try to catch the monster move of the day or take small profits over and over Go with the overall trend or against it? 3/10/09 Not bad, but not great. In the TL chat room I posted a pretty nice LIVE ES trade but that was done in a different account from this smaller one that I am using in this thread. I thought about including it to boost the number, but it's really not fair to myself since I am focusing more on my bond trades and this smaller account for this thread. On a side note, the TL chat room is an interesting thing. There's a couple that actually post trades live (props to eminiME and firewalker) and there's others that would give the appearance of trading, yet will not post when a trade is showing up and/or whether or not they took the trade. What's the point of pretending on an anonymous chat room? If you aren't trading, then WORK ON IT AND STOP PRETENDING. I guess it's sometimes easier to just keep the deception going than to admit what is really occurring. I haven't used the TL blog space here before but I think I may use that to document my personal views and opinions of this chat room. It will be MY opinions so hopefully they can be respected w/o moderation...

I will join the slow day club: Once again I missed a couple trades. For whatever reason the trades that show up at 8am or close to it seem to catch me off guard. I'm there and ready to go by 8 (and sometimes just getting to the computer by 8) and I think it takes me a little to settle in sometimes which is costing me trades. Good news is that I really saw this b/c of this thread and it's something I can work on.

It wasn't swingfade. My own posts have been deleted. I thought I had been here long enough to get the respect of having posts remain, but since the posts in question were directed to DB, they are now magically removed. IMO when you have an active poster who has exhibited very liberal uses of his moderation privileges, it's time to evaluate that person as a mod. As I asked you to set me as a mod to ONLY the candlestick corner and OEC, I'd suggest you do the same w/ others. DB has his area and is appropriate to be a mod there.

There's only 2 of us posting James, so I think we are ok there. If you want to discuss further, drop me a pm. thanks!

While the forum has grown and we know James can't possibly do all the moderation himself, there also needs to be a watchful eye on the mod's that are given full privileges. I was involved in a thread where my opinion was not favored by a few (incl a mod) and now the thread has changed. IMO mod's are probably best suited to those that want to remain neutral and do not easily get offended. We used to have a few of those around.

My reply was directed at steve46, who had posted in the thread.

Good question Steve. There are 2 valuable insights provided if you, DB and any other regulars were to post some blotters: 1) It would lend some credibility to all the different things you guys discuss. There's some great stuff in your thread, but we have never seen any proof that it can work when it counts - in real-time, with real money. Posting a daily blotter (even w/o times) would just show the newer traders around that it can be done AND you'd shut up guys like t28 - a win/win. 2) It would provide some motivation to everyone, myself incl. We all hit ruts and can use an added kick in the butt and if you and DB would post, it could help motivate me to get the job done more too! Again, it goes to help the community which is a fundamental reason we are here. You have to understand Steve the public's perception when someone that posts a lot on the forums refuses to post any proof that his ideas actually work. It's the same thing w/ vendors - we are apprehensive until they can show some proof. Same premise here - it's nice to see ideas discussed on after the fact charts, but what about when it counts? Does anyone using the ideas make real money? After all, that's why we are in this business. So seeing some evidence that the ideas can work is a marvelous thing! I'm not sure why you, DB, etc refuse to do that...

Sorry you won't be joining us Steve as I think it might lend some credibility to all the different things you discuss in your thread. It'd just be nice to see some evidence that the ideas actually work in real-time. We'll be here if you'd like to join us!

If there's EL code for it, more than likely it can be installed into the OEC software. See if you can find the EL code somewhere (might be on this forum). If not, we can suggest it to OEC for a future release.

Welcome back to the forums Steve! If you or anyone using the ideas here want showcase the results, feel free to come on over to this thread. It's just 2 of us posting now, so hoping some seasoned traders like yourself can step up to the plate and give the thread some momentum!

At the very least I think James should start a 'buyer beware' thread and let all of us post our thoughts in one thread and then sticky it.

You and I are on the same page then. To trade all day, every day is incredibly taxing on your brain and it doesn't work for me. Now I carve out 4 hours in the AM to get my job done and then move on to other things. While I love trading and love the markets, it still is a 'job' or a means to an end. I'm not looking to trade 8am-415pm every day and make $50k in that time. While it's possible in the futures world, I've seen first hand what focus and determination is needed and quite frankly... I don't have it. That was probably the biggest break through for me in my trading - realizing that I don't want to / can't trade all day, every day and make a good living at it w/o going crazy. Yes, there's a lot buried in that one sentence but those that have been around the block will get it. Personally my holy grail in my trading so far has been realizing that I can't trade all day. That's my grail. Literally. That one change altered my life in so many ways that I couldn't get them all on paper right now. Maybe that'll be for another thread when time permits.

I'm w/ ya hlm. It would be nice to see something streamed live on a real account but if that's the bar we are setting, might just be easier to say all vendors are a sham unless they can prove otherwise. A 'guilty until proven innocent' approach.
