Site doesn't remember login right away
brownsfan019 replied to brownsfan019's topic in Announcements and Support
Firefox. Not sure what to change though b/c as soon as I click into a thread it remembers me. I do not have to actually log in as long as I click a thread. -
I had a very bad experience with DTN when plugging their data in MultiCharts. Could be an isolated incident, but just an FYI.

BINGO! Open a small account at OEC and charting with all the data you could possibly want is FREE to customers. Now, I am guessing that they will want to see some sort of trading at some point, but even if not I believe it's $25/mo. I think you'll be hard pressed to beat that. And to top it off, it's good stuff! Even though free, better than what I was previously paying $500/mo for... Send me a PM with any specific questions on OEC if you'd like. http://www.openecry.com/

James - when I first come to TL it does not see my login info. When I click into any thread, it then remembers my login info and shows me logged in. Not a big deal, but just an FYI.

The ONLY debate I have here James is that you are using INTRADAY data to dictate your DAILY trade. I'm long and we'll see how it goes. As I told you in the chat room, we need some afternoon bulls to step in or this may be one of the failures. Stop not in danger (yet).

Well, no fill here and this thing could be running away. I was tempted to grab some before off to be and I should have now in hindsight. James is currently up approx 19 pts on the trade during the overnight session. Not too bad so far. This brings up a very interesting observation on my end - while looking at after the fact charts, you cannot assume you always got a fill since the mini's trade round the clock. In other words, the preferred entry here was at the close on 1/7 and you needed to pull the trigger right @ the close or right at the open at 4:30pm. By the time I got to the party, price had pulled away and very well may not come back to my entry price now. This is a potential problem for a number of reasons for any swing trader: 1) At some point you have to decide if you want to chase or not. If you chase, the stop just got bigger. 2) If the trade works and you are not in the trade due to poor planning, it will bite you in the butt real quick. The word bitter comes to mind. So our little exercise here has proven so far that you have to be ready to act when the time comes. If James and I had found this sooner, there may have been a shot to get my preferred entry. Now, James is in profit while I was sleeping and now I have to decide whether to chase or let it go and wait. I think I may chase.

Off to bed here... We'll see what the overnight session holds for this trade. Still working the mentioned limit order.

[evening star] Doji or Evening star?

You just have to get back in the game. We've all been there. -
James - might just be my laptop, but I can barely hear your audio.
-
One observation - take a look if you did enter right at the close @ 12867. Price is at 12890 now, a quick and easy +23 on proper trade planning... 23 x $5 = $115/ct. Trade 5 or so and and quick 500 bucks.

There you go, that's what this is about. Whether this trade works or not is irrelevant, even though it may not seem that way when looking at your P&L. Placing the trade is a big step. Now let it work and do it's job. Some work, some don't. That's part of the game. NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS, YOU CANNOT GET TOO COCKY OR DISCOURAGED AT THE OUTCOME OF THIS ONE TRADE. PS You have my email address if you need it tomorrow. If you want my cell, send me an email as I will be trading intraday tomorrow and rest of the week.

[evening star] Doji or Evening star?

That's cool. Remember there are other ways to play oil - an ETF perhaps. Key here is doing it with real money. Even just one share for the sake of doing it. I know it doesn't seem like much, but well worth it. -
note - proper trade planning would have entered @ the close of business on 1/7/08. That is what 'proper planning' would have done. So, I may not get the fill that I should have, but that's ok. James and I will work this trade live and see how it goes. Anyone else in?

I'm going to let this work. I am looking to enter @ the close of the spinning top, so I need a little down move. I may get a nice fill here or be stuck watching... Looking to enter @ 12867. IF it triggers, stop will go out @ 12781 (one tick from low of spinning top). No profit target out there right now. I'll see how this looks tomorrow morning. PS I think I blurred out the important stuff, but if you see something, please let me know.

Did you take the NQ trade in a live account? If not, why not? Yes, I am going to push the envelope b/c you've done the work. You are putting in the time required whereas many won't. You should be paid for your efforts. The YM long is a nice setup here with a great risk/reward. How about we both take this and see what happens? I'm in if you are in. 1 contract on the YM. You in?

So is this being done on a fake, after the fact account or is this what you did in yours? Sorry if that's too pushy, but you are doing well here James and need to make the money that is right there in front of you. It's like waiting for a big hand to play on a high stakes no-limit cash poker table and folding them... You waited for the rockets and let it go b/c you might lose... -
.... expected to.... oh, the suspense.
-
Pick your poison.

This looks like a great risk/reward setup on the daily. Minimal risk with a small spinning top from 1/7/08. We chatted about it in the room today, so thought I'd put a follow up here. Question is where to cover... this baby could go. Or it might not.

So the question is James, did you make MONEY from your great find here? It's time to start cashing in on these as you found a beauty here. -
I never found much value in scaling in or out. No matter how many times I crunch the numbers, scaling out just doesn't work for me as digger said.
-
You could also use SnagIt and/or Camtasia Studio as well, just be aware of how large the files can become.

PaintBarFactory.com? (not spam, a question!)

There you go Disco. Doesn't get any better than that. Blu-Ray the coding machine to the rescue yet again. -
Stone - that is one thing I love about Open ECry - they do in fact listen to their customers and take all suggestions into consideration. And sometimes even if it's just ONE client. I am speaking from personal experience. Hard to beat that in my opinion.
