  1. Some observations up to this point of our first round of CG: 1) Don't pick fights (aka ATTACK). 2) If someone does attack you, retaliate until you just pummel them to the ground. See my previous screenshot for an example of what to do to someone else. I learned first hand that it sets you back a ton. 3) In the battlefield area, you have to be quick - get your recruits and/or money - and get out. You are VERY exposed here and another troop can pick you off easily. These ambushes in the battlefield do not appear to show on your attack screen (probably b/c they are not an official attack). I had one instance where I had over 30k in troops and LOST THEM ALL in a battlefield ambush. I have yet to get near that number again... 4) We'll have to figure out how to use our crew 'power'. That's a whole different part of the game. Also, I put $2B in our bank so we had money. Probably should use that sometime... 5) The max turns you can have waiting is 1500. If you have 1500 turns, USE THEM so you can get more!
  2. Yeah - those turns are precious. Have to use them wisely.
  3. I'm going to have to figure out this ATTACK thing b/c I've won most of the battles I initiated, but two players retaliated (that's fine) but just beat me down over and over and over again. I mean, look at this: Apparently if you attack someone, it basically gives them an open door policy on your troops. My win % is really attractive, but that doesn't mean anything as two of these attacks cost me a ton of money and recruits. Moral of the story - don't attack others in the beginning. Wait for someone to attack you and then you can go back and attack them whenever you want.
  4. Just making sure. Someone else could have read that and thought the same thing.
  5. nosast - Tom quoted you MARGINS, not COMMISSIONS. Two very different things. Make sure you get BOTH in writing.
  6. Crew update - we have 4 on the crew so far and at least 5 invites out to join. THE CREW CAN ONLY HOLD 10 MEMBERS. First come, first serve. ------------------------------------------------ Note - you can sign up for the game whether you join the crew or not. So even if our inaugural TL crew gets filled up, you can still join and play. If there's enough interest, someone else can start a new crew. Click here to sign up and get going (drop me a PM here or on the game site if you join) or use BF's link.
  7. HLM- tell us what's your trick! He's on a tear so far. I am not surprised.
  8. nick and BF - you should have invites to DTU.
  9. If you sign up under BF, you need to send me a message if you want part of DTU as I will not see your signup under my link.
  10. Website: http://www.themarlinletter.com/ I received an email to join Jack Broz's chat room today for a free viewing (albeit brief). I have to say that in the many different chat rooms that I've visited over the years, I was impressed with Jack's. You can tell this guy knows his stuff and he's tapped into the floor. You always hear about what 'they' are doing and this might be the closest you can get to 'them' w/o being on the floor yourself. As I said, this was a very brief viewing of his room and was there to wet the appetite. If I was a newbie or looking for a room that could provide some insight that you simply cannot get on your own, I would consider trialing Jack's room. He offers a few different options, but it sounded like the open-close chat room was really the sweet spot of what he's selling. For $500/mo, it's not the cheapest thing around, but I guess that could easily be made up with just a couple trades if the room proves worthwhile. Again, I was in there briefly - maybe 30 minutes if that - and was watching while I was trading. There is a trial (not free) but if you just mention that you were on the online webinar on 2-28-08, he will give you a discount off the trial period. Please do your own due diligence before placing any real funds at risk. And if anyone does trial his room, please report back here for the rest of us.
  11. Here's a little piece of interesting info I heard today ... I spent some time in Jack Broz's chat room today on a free invite via email. One person specifically asked if floor traders actually use floor pivots and his reply was priceless - he said if you come down to the floor and find ONE floor trader using them, he'll take you to dinner (your choice of where). In other words, in Jack's opinion (who is on the floor) pivots are NOT used. Take it for what it's worth. As a side note, I was impressed with the brief time I was in Jack's room today. Seems like the real deal and knows his stuff. He was showing his live, real-money dom's with real trades being placed on them. That alone says a lot since many of these other vendors will not do that.
  12. And don't worry if we suck at first guys. There is a brand new game every 10 days, so we can do some trial and error for awhile. One thing I have learned - get recruits. The only way to move up the ranks is based on your recruits, so get them! It appears the quickest way is via battlefields, but you are also majorly exposed while doing these. I had about 30k in recruits and put them all into the battlefield b/c you earn more the more recruits that are there... works great until someone comes along and just picks you apart. I left with 0 recruits... So, be careful on the battlefields. You want recruits there as they will get you more $$$ but you are pretty much defenseless against any attackers.
  13. CALLING ALL DTU MEMBERS: I apparently pissed the wrong dude off and he is DESTROYING me... Screenname: Crymsonite If you are able to attack this person, please do and kick some butt. He has just wailed on me all day long and I don't have nearly enough to fight back at this point. Lesson learned - be careful who you attack as they may not like that...
  14. Here is under my name and who I just sent invites to for the DTU crew: Soultrader HLM Shreem OpenSeason TraderGrunt (these are the screennames on the game, not necessarily here on TL). If your name is above, you should have received an invite into DTU. Please let me know if you did not as I am learning how to use this software as well.
  15. Ok guys, here's some bits of advice given to me: ========================================= Here is what you are going to want to do....Go to where it says recruit under manage troops and spend 200 turns until you get 15 K troops..then go to raise funds and put 200 turns in the raise lvl option (left hand bottom) until you have a lvl of 3000. Then go to the battlefield and select high risk...you have to be careful here...You pick take over territory then put all troops..then select exploit resources..be careful people can attack your troops and you can lose them all..( it is called sniping) once you get 2-3 mill go to nuke countries and spend 50 turns and nuke all the places you can ========================================= You should buy the outposts and medical centers max and you should buy like you first couple cheap things 5000 each under defense attack and combo but you you should focus on buying aircraft or cruise missiles when you can
  16. Hal, 1) Sign up under this link: http://tinyurl.com/39cyug (I will then see you in my tree). 2) Drop me a line here or on the game site and I will send you an invite to the crew. 3) After that, read the FAQ and then go kick some butt!
  17. OK, so I made a crew! Name: DayTradersUnite In order to get on the DTU crew, you need to let me know that you want on the crew! Just drop me a line here or on the game site and I will send an invite your way. Max capacity of crew is 10. I can only send out a total of 15 invites. First come, first serve.
  18. So far Soultrader and HLM have signed up. Should we start a 'crew'? Why not... I just got my ass handed to me in a battlefield... ouch... :frustrated:
  19. Just found out about a cool little online war game. It's a fun little war game. It's not a graphic intense fight game, just planning and behind-the-scenes stuff. Something different. Click here to get there and drop me a message if you sign up! We can get an TL Crew together! A crew is a group of leaders that join together to be stronger vs. being on your own.
  20. No prob MrEd - anything that makes the software better can only help all of us, even if you don't use it at that time.
  21. Here's a few other things that OEC implemented in this new release that I had asked for: 1) Buy Bid/Sell Ask buttons directly on DOM (incredible time saver if you use that type of function) 2) Customize right/left click buttons on your mouse 3) Type directly on chart to change contract ================================= A few other things of note: 1) RSS news feeds 2) Market Delta plug-in 3) Custom indicators through easylanguage compatibility ------------------- So there you go. That's just one minor release from OEC and there's a ton of stuff in there.
  22. I'm guessing you are referring to this one (screenshots help when trying to explain one candle when I've posted 2 different charts): On that hammer, you could long there for sure. And depending on how you enter, you may or may not have been filled. From that point forward, it's about trade management.
  23. Walter - there's a few ways to enter: 1) Aggressive - have a resting order there to buy. 2) Buy @ close. 3) Buy above the high. Just depends on how quick you want to get in, of course knowing that you can take some heat, esp. on resting orders.
  24. All sorts of things to consider James! I did not know that VAH and PDH was there as well. The more, the merrier!
