  1. Oh hell no! We're not going all the way back here: http://www.traderslaboratory.com/forums/34/price-volume-relationship-6320-6.html#post71055  A few questions as you walk through bar by bar, no context other than what's in this series: To get to point 2, any point 2, what does volume have to do? Where is the first place you saw that happen? Does anything before that point matter for this fractal? Can you draw in a non-dom container anywhere? Why or why not? If you believe you can, is it on this fractal? The bigger questions: Where does the move finish? Why? Is the move finished? When will we know for sure?
  2. Well - you tell me if the hole got bigger or filled in. As I see it one bar, the FTT, is going to be the final bar for all the fractals and they are done, finished. See "non-stationary window" if you want to complicate it. And it's the point one of every new container regardless of the fractal level. So in that sense not gone, but they have absolutely no bearing on what will be built next. With that said, in the tape example, we know we are building another tape because we broke out of the old one, had an FTT, (sequence completed, signal for change, etc). We could build that tape without any sub fractals. But not right into a traverse as a traverse needs 3 tapes.

  4. Containers RE: Clean page 4 More on containers: http://www.traderslaboratory.com/forums/34/price-volume-relationship-6320-92.html#post96963 http://www.traderslaboratory.com/forums/34/price-volume-relationship-6320-92.html#post97027
  5. When you break a RTL you are coming out of the lower level, maybe several. Maybe you're having trouble with acceleration and deceleration of the containers? Or not properly accounting for acceleration? That would be my guess. A traverse could only go on forever if it never broke a RTL. On that note, since there have been tapes lasting for more than a day, a traverse could go on a while. If I have a tape, and there are several fractals within that tape, once the tape's RTL is broken all those fractals, no matter how many, are done. The tape doesn't change, though it might accelerate or decelerate. A tape has certain requirements. Could be you're using only price to separate fractals and that's the problem? If you're trying to make sure you have equal sets of sub-sub containers for each level you will run into trouble because they may not be there on the next leg. You end up try to force a type of symmetry that isn't visible anymore because market conditions changed. All of a sudden volume picks up in the afternoon, all the sub-subs disappear and your still trying to draw them in. If clean page 4 is a problem then throw it out. If there is a pair of trending bars, those 2 bars could represent a sub-tape, BBT or Tape. Regards, EZ
  6. Volume bars would be more helpful vs. gaussians. I see your drawings as 2 very different examples. It's not clear what exactly your question is because if you follow just the line thickness it's obvious - the first is a tape, the 2nd a BBT. That answer doesn't really have any value. As SK0 mentioned it doesn't matter where they end at this point. In the first case based on your drawing and labels alone your skinny blue lines represent a b2b tape for the new traverse. It's laying out a general container framework without regard for volume - and showing 3 observable fractal levels. Because the 2nd case is identical to the first except a fractal smaller, there must be another issue you are struggling with and the same answer as the first (a BBT in this case) is of little or no value. Lets take the 2nd case. You added smaller fractal levels and need volume to tell you whether you have built BBT's, sub-tapes, tapes, goats, whatever. To be accurate, in both cases volume tells you what you've built. But in the second, while you may see from volume you have sub-tapes, it could change. You might have sub-tapes on one leg and none on the next. It can get very difficult on the 5min ES to separate them out as you continue to drop fractals, and at some point unnecessary. One of the reasons we were focusing on the ES only was to simplify learning with the observable levels. (not that anyone has to stick with that) Once you go past that you have to use finer tools. Hope that helps. - EZ
  7. Gaussians must match your trend lines. Even though volume peaked early in the move, price continued in the dominant direction. There hasn't been any change yet. Continue the gaussian to match the price peak or price trough. On the flip side sometimes you may be drawing a decreasing gaussian to or through an increasing volume bar. For example if you went B2B pt1 to pt2, and then in the middle of going 2R (decreasing volume with decreasing price) you get an increasing volume bar, would you change your decreasing red gaussian to increasing red? Or draw in an R2R for that leg? No. There may be a dominant red on a lower fractal, but not on the same level you're annotating. One suggestion. Posting a larger section of the YM chart and the ES would have been helpful. Annotating gaussians to the max/min of price movement is different from some of the older charts you may have seen on another site.
  8. Obviously you do not understand how volume is being used here. It works perfectly fine for our purposes. We are not using volume to predict (as mentioned in your original post). I understand where you are coming from and it's well understood that futures moves with the cash. You are not the only one here with 20 plus years of experience in volume and other analysis - running actual back tests. Several times I've personally had other indexes and the cash running alongside the ES in real time. So again I know where you're coming from and held a similar view at one time. Quotes from Jack Hershey: With your current line of thinking you'd have to consider the other indexes too - Valueline, Russell's, the rest of the S&P's, etc. Which cash to use? And there are those times where the futures leads the cash - it happens. What about leading markets? A lot of those things don't have a bearing on what we're doing here. If you wish to pursue it further I'd suggest posting to Jack over on ET. He loves debating that sort of thing. That's not what this thread is about. It's surprising there wasn't more mudslinging considering you came into a thread dedicated to a certain methodology and then suggested it wasn't valid because of the data it was based upon. One last quote:
  9. FWIW, that chart has received a lot of attention. Both ways of annotating work. At that time the non dom gaussian was drawn in to the end of the lateral, where there was a BO and return to dominance. It was illustrating everything in the lateral being non-dominant on the traverse level. But the new sequence down does start at the point 3. Just though I'd throw that out for anyone wondering. Being a non-dominant 2-3 leg that might be expected. Though not always.
  10. Just keep it on topic so the thread doesn't go in another direction.
  11. The 10-12 sequence is on a smaller or finer level, you won't see all the movement on a 5min ES bar. But I'd bet the YM or a finer ES level would show the sequence ending on bar 12 or 13. So however you view it, there is a 2b for some fractal, but it's below the level you were looking for. 21 - 27 however has the full visible non dom volume sequence. So yeah, looks like you got it.
  12. There's no new code, though you might find the regular lateral code on ET. To be more specific, the lateral movement concept is no longer used. See this link, it might help you with those 2b's too: http://www.traderslaboratory.com/forums/34/price-volume-relationship-6320-18.html#post71337 A lateral starts with 2 bars inside the first. Look at the volume in your 2b's. They are different. Also look at the price movement, but mostly your volume sequence.
  13. Compare your 2b following bar 10 with the 2B following bar 21. Also looks like you have the old lateral movement code on your charts. It's no longer used FWIW.
  14. I've added a few of the older posts and files of interest from MSN and Usenet days, including various drills. Happy New Year

  16. What is unsavory is the other torrent sites that loop you through their advertisers, lie and tell you they have the files and you can download them at high speed for a fee, or if you register. These sites don't have the files on their servers, they don't host them. After I posted the torrents they were already claiming to have the files, which had not even been uploaded to anyone - except to one of my own computers for testing and seeding. The evil bastids By putting the links at PirateBay you get the link to the files hosted on my computer, no BS runaround or transferring you to another site, and at a trusted virus and spyware fee source - me! Without a good virus program (shameless plug for Avast and Malawarebytes, both free) any site can give you a virus and, some of the advertisements on the sites can infect you without ever clicking on them. Though unsavory types use these sites and give them a bad name, they and other sites like them are the reason P2P software and streaming has come so far, and you are able to DL .99 songs and stream Pay Per View Sports at a reasonable price online. I've gotten more viruses from standard program updates from mainstream companies than from Torrents. - End Rant BTW, have a new link for the files at a hosting site. They work. :thumbs up: PM if you're interested. - EZ
  17. Torrents didn't work out. Will have to get something else going.
  18. The torrents up and running. The more people that seed them the faster they will download. Go to: The Pirate Bay - JHM
  19. I'm going to be getting the Hershey videos and materials set up on Torrent. If someone wants to help with the seeding and trial run send me a PM. Thanks - EZ
  20. I see Gucci already covered this one for you. Put another way, price showed you a pt3, volume didn't.
  21. If you're looking for a traverse FTT, then the tapes for that leg must be completed. Where is your tape point 3?
  22. Not to confuse but thought it was worth mentioning, it's been said the smallest possible tape is 5 bars - though I can't remember seeing one personally. Food for thought on tape breaks and volume. Probably should have said container instead of tape, but you get the idea. Sheep, goat, poodle.
  23. When you reply, on the toolbar between the "mountain icon" and the "#", there is a button that looks like text. Highlight each individual section of text in the message then click that icon, it wraps your text with quote code. Do that for each section. Or type (without the spaces and including the brackets): [ Quote ] before the text and [ / quote ] after the text.
